For somebody who never did any fancy tricks or showboating, Scholes' technical ability was so apparent in every game. Okay, his tackling would make Vinnie Jones wince, but his ability on the ball is the best the Prem has ever seen. He could pick a 30 yard pass out, straight to his team-mates' feet without even looking. He interviews like Karl Pilington though! He is actually one of my favourite ever players (and I support leeds!)

@fridjon83 Exactly. Some people use "of his generation", as an excuse to say it was just a petty remark - but Zidane and Scholes essentially played for the same seasons. He's clearly saying that Scholes is the best player he's ever played against. Some people say use that also to argue that Zidane never said Scholes was better than him - but that's not the point, his said his toughest opponent. He probably regards himself as better, who wouldn't say they're worse than someone else?
