  • So good.

  • Awesome, all that sound from one man. LOVE IT, I got my Harmonic Capo on my guitar right now, after seeing this I should take it off. I better practice more

  • @saltytsp Don't feel bad. I'd have to practice for months to relearn this tune. This is one of the hardest ones I ever came up with. It's a killer.

PLEASE DON'T TAKE THE CAPO OFF!!! ;)

  • fabulous and the love the overpowering emotion pouring out!!!

  • @moorethanart Thank you so much. It was an emotional piece to play.

  • Good work. I likey...

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • good work, what model is your martin?

  • Thanks! It's a D-16M. (1990) It was still fairly new when this video was made.

  • we were just talking about your harmonic capo, looks like you've made a new and improved version! cool !!! when are you going to post some new music??? cheers -ag

  • Thanks for watching! This video still gets a lot of hits even though it's nearly 20 years old now. My most recent videos are "Metamorphosis 1", "Grasshopper", "Catspaw","June Bug" and "Dogwood". Those will all be on my next CD, which will hopefully be out in the fall. More are coming...

  • wow

  • I can see how you quote Reich as your influence, however this does NOT sound like something Reich would write. Too much harmonic movement. Beautiful, however. This would probably sound nice on piano or vibes or something. Nicely done. Thanks for the upload. And I love the additive melody!

  • i hope to get one of those harmonic capos soon. that will open up a world of opportunities for my guitar playing! hopefully i can get as good as you, man. (check out my vids if you ever have the chance...looking for recognition.)

  • Hey Bob,

Your "Cloudburst" has always been one of my fav videos. Your performance is one-of-a-kind!

    Keep on shreddin!!

    Jan

  • As I was watching this I was thinking to myself "Man, this kind of sounds like something Steve Reich would write" and then I read the video description haha.

  • cloudburst is also the title of an eric whitacre piece. you should seek it out, you`d almost certainly enjoy it!

  • dude i can't wait to download your first 2 albums so i can play along on drums, you my friend are disgusting for lack of a better word.

  • Hey, thanks for all the positive comments today. I'm glad you like the tunes! With any luck, I'll have a third CD out this summer.

  • Thanks for this!

    Sounds very Michael Hedges-esque!

    Really, bravo, enjoyed the tune!

  • Hooray Philip Glass!

  • wow man, u r seriously amazing! great job!

  • This looks easy??!! Wow, I'd hate to see hard! Awesome video

  • Just awesome, Sounds like its should be in the film KOYAANISQATSI.

    Nice work!

  • Great man!!! Just great!! Is that ur own composition? I play guitar but i usually play blues and jazz. This was something extraordinary. Great feeling to. Inspireing ( right spelled?). God bless you!!

  • madonna k cagata

  • Wow I like this so much.

  • Shut up you r-tard, his fingers are in the 'right' places. I suggest your sort out your grammar before trying to critisize peoples work...Mayt U shud jst fcuk off innit.

  • is tuned different dumho

  • yeam he's totally faking... you can tell by the way he... ummm, wait he's not, don't you look like a dipshit

  • also, it's pretty sweet, nice stuff

  • tabs?

  • Sorry. I haven't done a tab for this one. I need to do that!

  • I thought i heard flute... My ears gone nuts man!

  • beautiful.well I play different style without tapping but like this stuff...

  • Very good but I like CloudBurst by Eric Whitacre for the choir better. It sounds more like rain.

  • fantastic rythm, really suits its name

  • amazing. Thins i didn't think could be done on the guitar wer5e just unraveled before a very mesmerized Musicman's eyes.

  • Theres also a song by Eric Whitacre entitled Cloudburst... same concept... but the songs are different...

  • is that a taylor?

  • It's a Martin D-16M

  • mewithoutshoe?

    more like youwithnoclue

  • that's skilled.

  • simular to some of andy mckee's stuff

  • can u tab this mann

  • I haven't tabbed any of the Harmonic Capo tunes yet because almost nobody has the capo, and you really couldn't play this tune without it. When the capos finally go on sale, I'll have to put together some tabs.

  • ok.i see ....thanks for the tips mann...they`ll be of big help...incredible work on the guitar though...it sounds kick-ass

  • That really is quite fantastic mate, amazing way of playing with the harmonic capo. Really reminds me of Micheal Hedges.

Well done, a very decent guitarist on youtube at last

  • Originality at its best. WONDERFUL playing.

  • How is the capo applied? You seem to have capoed some strings but not others.

  • The tuning is CGdgde, with the Harmonic Capo applied to the "dgde" strings. That transposes those open strings up one octave. The capo just barely touches the strings. When you press a string down to the fretboard, it breaks contact with the capo and plays normally.

  • can this be done on any guitar dude....

this is just so omg mann..this sound beutiful...it sound slike 4 guitars put in two hands..lol

  • The Harmonic Capo works on most guitars, but not all. Many guitars have a neck joint that prevents a strap from being positioned at the 12th fret, so that rules out most classical guitars and dobros. You can still use it at the 5th or 7th frets on those guitars. It also wouldn't work well on 12-string guitars. It should work on most "folk" acoustic and electric guitars. BTW, you can't buy them in stores yet. I'm working on mass-producing them, but they're not quite ready for sale.

  • okk...i se now...good work on the guitar mann..its awsum..would this technique...be able to work on ltd electrics??

  • It'll work on electrics, if the action isn't set too low. The ability to play "below" it depends on the strings being far enough off the fretboard so that pressing them down moves them enough at the 12th fret to break contact with the capo. Playing the lower frets doesn't move the strings much, so you may not be able to use the 1st or 2nd frets without the capo muting the strings. Very low action can make this worse. Adjust the capo for minimum pressure for best results.

  • ooo..i see wat u mean man!..thanks for the advice mann

  • Thats so Nice.wish i knew how to do such nice melodys.

  • Excellent Weasel! I play too for 30 years. People that bash you are morons and obviously can't play. Keep up the great work. Very hypnotic song.

  • everyone check out my video

its a "dear sister" parody haha its so funny

  • I really love your way of playing. I love the hypnotising melody's

    BIG respect

  • Think you need i new sofa..... btw nice guitaring there!

  • max resp

  • awesom. I wish I could play as good as you.

  • No effects, no cable and your face shows love for the music, respect.

  • amazing, much respect, you are good :)

  • Great Vid , man!! *****

    You 'll love this

  • has anyone else noticed the corny sound of the song and the name?

  • You must be thinking of Steve Vai.

  • everyone watchh my video! i'm gonna make a lot more!

  • w w w s o t t o i l m e t r o c o m

  • güzel olmus canım...

  • "a cuban landscape with rain" has the same idea.. i cant remember who wrote that though .. this is good, i liked it (some parts did indeed sound like rain)

  • wow, what coordination, very nice effect, I can hear the rain.

  • u got same guitar as me exept mine has gold tuning knobs and some kind of turquose shell that im not able to spell but its somthing like abalony in the neck

  • he took my guitar LOL, he has the same 1 as me... it is HARD to finger pick on an acoustic, unless you have an amp hooked up to it, great job

  • Just grow your nails. It looks nasty, but it'll give you a great sound on a steel string acoustic.

  • your amazing

  • very good song and technique but it looks like hes holding a shit, his facial expressions are really annoying

  • Awesome!!! Great!!!

    RESPECT!!! Good Song And technique!!

  • Tootybugz, you are a fool, I bet you don't know aoelian from phrygian, and being a drummer doesnt mean you suck, you are a stereotype who thinks they know music, but you dont. Come play something for me, I bet it will be blues scale or major, so shut up and stop dissing on stuff I bet you cant play.

  • Nice words bro. I would have said the same thing.

  • Wow' the reason I love acoustic and am learning how to finger pick... So I can some day play stuff that most people don't even recognize as music. Like all the dumb asses who commented poorly about the song you made "witch I think is fucking sweet" keep up the good work man. Fucking Awesome.

  • Very nice work, this kind of stuff is what keeps me focused on my acoustic playingf :). I love this song weas', very enjoyable, and stylistically blissfull yet, at the same time, poignant. I'm working on a few pieces myself (who knows, I might upload them once i've finished), but I can't say that I have the hang of such fine touchs as yous seem to (I have a ways to go :s ).Nice title, too, it fits so well!

  • shite mate check out guitar90

  • you should try to play the drums cause you suck

  • Still, I can barely keep the same beat with tapping my fingers and playing a guitar rhythm, it's crazy. I enjoyed the song, it was "Pretty." And arranged incredibly, but I was told to play rhythm for my band, and I couldn't keep it, I had to play lead or else I wouldn't be able to play right. lol

  • if repetition was non musical, then we wouldn't listen to our favorite songs again and again *LOL*

    Nice job, man ...

  • The damn monotony of his left hand.

  • lol what a loser he doesnt even know how to pluck the strings NOOB!!! jk jk (i know hes tapping dont flame me it was a joke)

  • Darn! I was gonna name a song Cloudburst. Ah well, nice song and vid.

  • you're really good dude. this is an interesting piece

  • Tapping on accoustic always sounds the same to me, but I really enojoyed this. Good luck with whatever your goal is with this talent.

  • c'est super ce qu'il fait ce gars!

  • great !!!! smoke weedzzzz!!!

  • CHEVERE!!!!!!

  • Stargazer???

  • This sounds like something taken out of a zelda game... That's actually quite refreshing :)

Nicely done, Oh! and good luck with your playing

  • awesome,five stars.

  • the monotony of his left hand is maddening

  • people who don't like repetition normally don't know anything about music :)

  • tru but wen u look at rap.... the "beat" repeats every 3 seconds and thats just too anoying

  • you're bad at listening to music

  • lol!

  • Great!

  • do you want to view more rare minimal miusic's videos? visit ambroa.blogspot, com

  • this reminds me of kyle gass from tenacious D, haha. great stuff.

  • Haha, he does!

  • i will call you HULK HANDS

  • Well keep up the good work man your music is amazing and soulful and would like to see more of it. Its people like you and Erik Mongrain and Mckee that keep the originality of acoustic guitar playing alive.

  • amazing man. Any chance you could give me a tab for it? it blew me away how awsome that was

  • Sorry, I haven't tabbed this one out yet. Unfortunately, a tab wouldn't do you much good without one of my Harmonic Capos. I'm pretty sure this tune would be impossible to play without it.

  • It's about time we had someone who could carry on from where Michael Hedges left off ...... fascinating.

  • Thank you! That's quite a compliment. I said the same thing about Erik Mongrain recently. Check out his Fates CD if you haven't already.

  • ur skillz kick ass but ur sofa/chair sucks...just kidding great music man

    ignore me im retarded lol

  • Best comment I have EVER read on You Tube, roflmao!

  • better than me - thats all i can say.

  • WOOOW, that was amazing, man, you're the best !!!

  • nice but stanley jordan is still the man

  • Very solid playing man, that was a great performance.

  • I liked it...228th comment and well I like it it actually relaxed me, and for somene who only takes interent in rock music I gotta hand it to you. =)

  • .....(yawn).....Sounds like kewl2006 wants the gingers length. And this STILL aint got nothing on Justin King.

  • Sounds great man, keep up the good work.

  • sounds like some thing from "Aerial Bourndries"

  • your an awesome player, wtg! love your work

  • Nice job bud I enjoyed lisoning to this piece keep up the good work and God bless

    Tyler

  • so cool man

  • he is phat

    and fat

    ha

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • it´s fat

  • ........whatever

  • Superb!

  • You are a very good guitarist

  • That's a whopping 99.8 on the old Inanometer, martialartsrodent! A new "high."

  • .....(yawn).....Its hardly Justin King is it? Or maybe i've no respect4this dude coz of his hair. Not sure.

  • typical... judging the guitarist not by his playing but by the way he looks. you're a penis.

Don't listen to judomouse, i lobed your piece, regardless of what your hair looks like.

  • Hahahahahahahaha!!! You LOBED it huh??? You put your ear RIGHT against the speaker whilst listening!?!? Cock end.

  • wow. that's just the kind of crappy comeback i expected from a penis.

  • Well done. I play something similar called Rain, but yours is more dynamic. I look forward to more of your pieces.

  • george winston...or maybe just a little

  • Verry very good!

  • well done

  • Amazing technical skills!

  • Cooool, now if only I keep on, someday I hope to do the same, kudos!

  • I really like the eerie vibe to this, very atmospheric. I much prefer this to the other generic, mindless shred guitar playing you see on a lot of youtube videos.

  • this music wud suit a scene in a rain forest

  • Wow, this was incredible. You are quite the musician. Keep on, dude. Very amazing!!! Makes me ashamed to call my self a musician.

  • Very nice!

  • As a minimalist fan I love this peice, its pretty, its interesting. Its not so much the complexity of the tune, its the thought put into it, the tuning, for example has been thought out well. If people dislike music because of stupid reasons like, "its not quick and technical enough" or "it dont sound good" they obviously arent true musicians. Keep up the good work

  • very very good, and we have the same guitar :D

  • nice

  • Wow nice, good job.

  • hedges fan?

  • reich influenced guitar is something ive been looking for. keep up the great work!

  • Thank you! If you're a serious Reich fan, check out "Epicycles" on my myspace page. It features guitar, but there's also piano, vibes, shakers and flute. It's a tribute to Steve Reich.

  • That was good!Keep it up!

  • Sweet, pretty good coordination you got there. Hope to see more vids!

  • look at what DelightfulSpleen plays, it's a totally different style as you play. You play very good and everything is right on how you play... DelightfulSpleen can't have a comment like that because he doesn't know a shit!

  • dosent sound good , remenber that simple things sound really much better than loads of technique. You try too much to put complicated tones and it sounds not good to me .

But it's my opinion i hope everyone will respect that.

  • Of course I respect your opinion. We just have different points of view. To me, this piece is all about simplicity and not at all about technique. It was inspired by the music Steve Reich and Philip Glass, and by their standards, it is "minimalist". This style of music is definitely not for everybody. But I like it.

  • My left hand would fall off after playing that.

  • People who think players use this technique to impress, then go shouting its not that hard piss me of. listen to the music, you feckin morons. every thing else is irrelevant.

  • Well, I also pointed out that it sounded good. :-)

  • Apart from that it's a nice piece, I think guitarists that advert theire songs with text like "The piece looks simple, but the rhythyms can be very tricky." should get back in touch with the music again.

It's not about tricky, it's about the song sounding good.

Which it does, but you get the point.

  • I was only pointing out that the piece is not as simple as it looks. I did not mean to suggest that complexity alone makes it worthwhile. That said, some people do find musical complexity satisfying, even when the complexity is for its own sake. I can appreciate that point of view, but I totally agree that it would be crazy to artificially make music harder to play just to impress someone. It's the difference between playing a Bach fugue for its musical intricacy and playing it blindfolded.

  • it flows within you my acoustic brother and your timing within this piece mirrors a metronome. check out my little tune under GRAHAM PINK - a little tune-

  • harmonic capo... gotta get me one of those

  • i wish i could play like tht

  • good job MAN!

  • so cool man, I don't think people realize how much harder it is to play actual melodic songs with two handed tapping on an acoustic, keep tyhe videos coming man, I appreciate it.

  • are you tuned down? =O

  • The tuning is CGdgde, with my Harmonic Capo applied to the "dgde" strings.

  • very good but the capo makes it a lot easier than it may sound. all that aside, excellent job

  • This one might be impossible without the Harmonic Capo. I know I couldn't do it without one. I can barely do it with one. ;)

  • agzim acik kaldi!oh my god thats more than good..its impossible...gratulations WOAW!!!!!

  • This sound like "Aerial Boundaries"

  • youre sooo good, hadnt seen that on accoustic, im impressed !!!

  • harmonic capo... must get... one... great job by the way reminded me a bit of Alex DiGrassi

  • wow,FUCKIN WOW

  • good job...from one artist to another!!

  • forget all the assholez that say against U... there are music loverz that really enjoy your music...
