ChromeOS will not have local Application support....I don't know if that is gonna go down well... even on a Netbook. But 2010 is going to be a very interesting year
Check out the Gadgets API and OpenSocial, it's amazing what you can build even whithin the browser, but yes it reminds me of the first iteration of the iPhone for developers.
It isnt competing with windows its releasing in its own little niche like nintendo has done with the wii. Its an O.S made specifically for netbooks or internet only computers. What i read in a pc magazine anyway
If I would like something like chrome os, I would buy a new cellphone, don't get me wrong, go opensource!!!

If Chrome browser is free, then how about Ubuntu+Chrome+snazzy control panel+snazzy application launcher
minus the crappy gnome or crappy kde of course.
Perhaps there *is* something to be said for a new "OS"...

A stock Linux distro with a simplified control panel, and the Firefox browser, easily competes with CromeOS.
But Google is doing something extra I think. We're going to see vector like applications in a new language.

Unfortunately, the developers are forced to shoehorn their application inside a browser. This really sucks, because it's keeping us in the stone age.
