  • HI Ron, Nice demo, many thanks.

Could you tell me about the control plate with the angled pickup selector switch on that guitar.

  • @seansixfive Mark Rutter makes an angled pickup selector plate; don't know if that's what's on this guitar though. Rutter's are about $30 and very well made from aluminum.

  • what kind of amp and settings? im looking to replace at least the bridge pickup in my tele and i dont know if my amp is causing part of my tone problems.

  • @oldskoolnoma Hi and thanks for the kind words.I'm using a Tech 21 NYC trademark 60 solid state amp direct into the camera/video recorder with a little bleed into the mic I was talking through. The pickups are amazing as well as the amp. Many people have asked what kind of tube amp and what brand of tubes I used ?? If you like Tele tone I HIGHLY recommend these pickups.

  • @oldskoolnoma I used a 1968 Deluxe Reverb on some of the earlier vids and I can't tell any difference in tone.

  • What playing! Awesome. The pickups sound mediocre but the playing is utterly jaw dropping. Thanks for the video!

  • L45S sounds great !! :)

  • Great playing. What would you say are the tonal differences between this set vs Bill's L-280TN, L-290TL? I can't decide which to get.

  • Hey Ron, where did you pick up that control plate with the angled 3-way slot? Was that a custom order?

  • pope

  • Wow, it breaks up just at the right points. How very tasteful

  • Screw Bardens....these are so much sweeter at 1/3 the price

  • Ron Jeffrey's.....my long lost picker!!!!!

  • whoaa, that bridge pickup gives THE tele tone, hot damn

  • where can I get a bridge like that ...I invented that style about 10 years ago I had that same idea ...to have a separate plate for the pup ...I used plastic so it would not tend to feedback ...but that looks great ....lotta tone you have there ...who needs bardens!!!!

  • cool control plate with the curved pickup selector...

could you please tell me who makes thhose control panels

    -thanks so much

  • How do these compare to Bardens ??? I also like the bridge setup you have I did that on my sons tele ..except I had a plastic surround for the pickup ..no feedback issues since I did that .....what is the output of these ..??? sounds great ...and great playing by the way ..very tasteful !!!

  • Thanks for the answer Ron. Im prob gonna start with .022 if I wire it myself, or .047 if I decide to order a prewired control plate. Good to know that standard tele pots and caps work fine with these pickups.

So I take it you don't use a treble bleed circuit either?

  • Great Tone and Great Playing!

Love these pups so much I just ordered a set for my pinecaster build.

Understand tone pot is 250K w/ .001 cap.

What vol pot goes with these, 250 or 500K ?

    Thanks!

  • @MrWhit30 THANKS FOR THE VERY KIND WORDS.I use 250k pots and have been experimenting w/tone caps.Since I rarely use my tone control I have a hard time deciding on the value of tone caps, usually .05 .022 or .01.Right now I'm using a .05 in the same guitar it seems just a little warmer to my ear when I do roll it back. Absolutely 250k pots for these pickups unless your are using a lot of pedals or cables or both and feel like you need more brightness. In that case maybe a 500k pot.

  • @MrWhit30 .01 or .015 caps are the most useful. the .01 is the rage in nashville.

  • THANK YOU! I was looking for a good, clear demonstration of that Neck pickup - and you gave its some lovin' there!

  • hell yeah now thats baad ass ,tone and pickin and all ..

    awsome hoss

  • @PRIESTWORLD Thanks,I'm glad you like it.These pickups kill l!!!

  • @PRIESTWORLD Thank you for your kind word.....Ron

  • Is that twang your getting you or the pickups? I am looking at the keystones, but you seem to get a lot of tele-twang out of these and I would like a hotter humbucking style if I could keep the twang

  • @jimmy5634 I love the blades myself L 48 T.However the Keystones do sound so clean and smooth.Don't forget the price is so comparable so maybe a set of each?? I don't work for Bill and Becky,I just really love the pickups and have been using Bill's pickups since the mid 70s........Ron

  • Wonderful tone, mellow, just the way I like it.

  • @doneaster Very kind of you.Thanks.....Ron

  • great tele tone!

  • @FordIsBetter I really really thank you for the kind words....Ron

  • Man that's sweet ! Is that a Taipantone halfplate ? Which material is it ? And what material is the bridge ?

That's a great chicken pickin tone and you're great at it !

  • @silverderf Thanks!!! That's the non magnetic stainless steel.

  • @silverderf Taipantone bidge and half plate for sure as well as control plate with slanted switch, heavy knurled knobs and neck plate as well.I REALLY REALLY like Taipantone stuff and use it on pretty much all the guitars I build. Thanks for taking time to comment and thanks for the kind words....Ron

  • Sounds great!

  • @thatoneguy111 Thank you Bill is the best.I love these pickups.

  • I love that neck pup, it sounds amazing!

  • @tonesource Thanks I have always liked a strat style pickup in the neck position.
