The flood was really bad as it flooded the downtown business district on Balsam and Ridgecrest Blvd. The Ridgdecrest Daily Independent newspaper website had a lot of photo's on just how bad it got. If you do a Google search, maybe they still have them posted. All that water in my front yard really brought the weeds up, I was weeding for days for about a week after the flood. It really perked up the plants I did want, so I can't complain.
This is the corner convience store I walk to every morning to buy the newspaper. That's the only thing I buy there as the prices are sky high. For everything else I go to Wal Mart.
Convenience stores as a rule are always much higher in price than discount stores. You "pay" for the convenience so to speak.
Sammy is a friendly bloke who used to work at this store and then up and moved to Canada. I made the video so he could see his former co-workers and the newly remodeled store.
Sammy is from Lebanon and his real name is Osama, I'm not kidding. Last time I talked to him he was doing great. He got married to a lovely lady and has a great job.

When I moved here 8 years ago it was "Ed's Mini Mart." It changed hand's about 4 years ago and now it's "Alvord Street Market." I made this video for a clerk (Sammy) who used to work here and has since moved to Canada.

i miss ridgecrest so much! i use to go to howards mini mart on Upjohn ave. all the time. How was the flood last month? i just found out about it.
