  • YO, I have been a fan of HAWKWIND since 1976! I live in New Jersey.

This band was the inspiration for soooo many sci fi and fantasy books and games! But yeah most in the US missed these guys, probably becaues of Pink Flyod

  • ahh, before the captain had his guitar custom painted. fantastic performance

  • Alan had a bit less hair at Sonic Rock Solstice!

  • Why didnt that drummer stay on ??? FAR better than chadwick.

  • @iowdave no!!!! dont say that

  • Their music is so atmospheric...love 'em.

  • Huw is the man, why isn't he still in the band ?

  • Huw - the Man. Nobody comes close.

  • they got 40+yrs of musical genious and are just ....you'll find out ;]

  • New to Hawkwind, but can't wait to see them at Hellfest in June

  • great line up great days and even went to see huw with his own band in newport south wales around this time ,saw him at hawkwinds 40 party in porchester hall ,looks a tad older but still entertained us . saw hawkwind for the fourteenth time 2 weeks ago and they put on a superb performance ,and alan davey was amazing at the sonic solstice fest in builth wells this year

  • Good to see Alan Davey in the band

  • Excellent Mullet there, Mr. Lloyd-Langton!!!!

  • Theres a live version of this old standard on new album blood of the earth. It seems a reguar in the set these days

  • In the mood for these guys...Maybe 'The Offspring' with 'Stuff Is Messed' up would be more appropriate.....

  • It does not get any better than this. Amazing. Huw, you rule.

  • the most entertaining live band i've ever seen, especialy on mushrooms....

  • I was born to blaze my nuclear way thru space.

  • "...The U.S. never heard of?" They spent half their life touring the states.

(Well, not _quite_ half... lol ;) )

  • I Watched this Tape in the UK On a Channel 4 program called ECT.

    Period 1985.

  • Cool Vid and Great song. Is Hawkwind the best band of all time that no one in the U.S. has ever heard of?

  • @11fastway slayer knows this band. Check their version of Angels of Death

  • @11fastway ya ,, i jst stumbled on to it ,, and it fkn rocks!

  • Saw Hawkwind in 1980 at Oxford New Theatre, brilliant live, played this song.

  • I saw this on TV at the time. Can't remember the name of the show, but I think it went out on a Friday. They also played the Bob Calvert song "The Right Stuff".

  • great dave brock

  • "ENORME"

  • "INTEMPOREL"!!!!!!!!!

  • Dave Brock is nearly 70!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's just wrong

  • You Brits are lucky as hell to have had the Hawks touring the UK so heavily for the last 40 years! I lost thousands of LPs in a fire in '86 and haven't been able to replace many on CD. One of my few regrets in life---never seeing them in concert---especially around 1980. Levitation and Live '79 are full of great music and I'd give my left nut to find them on CD!

  • They are being reissued on the Atomhenge label part of Cherry Red Records , Levitation is due Sept with a replica of the tour programme apparently

  • Fuckin' hell mate, come to think of it, I actually think they have been on tour perpetually for the whole 40years! Hardest working Hippys

in the business. Except for maybe Julian Cope. (And I think he just makes it look hard sometimes)

  • The Teardrop that never stops Exploding.

  • wow this takes me back in time,my 1st hawkwind gig was 1979 the live album they did.but i think they lost the plot a few years later.thank fk 4 lemmy+MOTORHEAD they still rock it

  • yep it was ect..i was there.....waheyyy

saw them at stonehenge 83 and 84..then in 85 the police were bastards....say no more....

  • my first ever gig was hawkwind,on the live 79' tour,...........liverpool empire ...epic,..........

  • wow i was there too m8,those where the days hey,i saw loads of bands at the empire in those days

  • Excellent stuff, haven't seen this since it was on originally. This was just about when I got into HW so I have a lot of affection for this lineup. They weren't the same without Huw, even though he only had one solo!

  • If you people think this is good, then you need to check out all their other stuff...this is NOT one of their better songs! Too pop and repititous...check out Hall of the Mountain Grill and get enlightened.

  • Saw these at Monsters of Rock, Donington early 80s. Top drawer Show, Top Band!!

  • Ditto

  • CLASSIC ...5 STARS!

  • This would never be aired now. Classic performance!

  • Damn, Hawkwind is one of the greatest of all time!!! too bad Alan Davey is no longer playing with them. He was my favorite since Lemmy

  • think the show was called 'the friday zone' early evening CH4, the other track they played was 'the right stuff'

  • The show was called ect. This a great version of classic Hawkwind track.Hawkwind were never the same after Huw Lloyd Langton left. The line up they had for The Chronicle tour was the last great Hawkwind line up.

  • SHIT HOT POSTING, about 1985, i rememebr it well,, Peace

  • What year was this shown...excellent stuff

  • all round classic,great stuff!

  • Okay I talked shit about this band on another video but this performance is killer.

  • Huw is the greatest

  • Yes folks! This is alright! hawkwind is still

    the roots for Lemmy!!!!!!!

  • Drummer is Clive Deamer.

  • Thanks, he's a good drummer.

  • Excellent man! Need to find the full set. Not many vids of this incarnation of the Hawks around :D

Drummer is defo not Richard Chadwick

  • its not richard chadwick, not sure who the drummer is

  • Drummer looks like Richard Chadwick. Might be wrong.

  • who's the drummer.... anyone?

  • Dont miss Wye Festival on 7 June at Hereford when Just Fuzz, awesome new indie rock band, play with hawkwind!

  • Hawkwind fucked up when they kicked lemmy out.

  • oh well at least they didn't fuck down.

  • Super sound, znakomity kawałek, świetny rif, głos Dave'a Brocka jest głęboki i przejmujacy, zdecydowanie częściej powinien śpiewać, zamiast angażować przeważnie miernych wokalistów.

  • A great version of Angels, they are only a shadow of the band they were without Huwey on lead.

  • I just bought a bloack Westone Spectrum. Looks just like CAptain Brocks one in this vid .

  • I like them live, and this is a great video. I have seen them a few times, and they are worth seeing live.

  • One of the best live Hawks performances ever. Huw - you are the MAN.

  • nice

  • great song

  • Brilliant and Alan Davey looks so young.

    Love his style.

  • ta weno

  • Amazing performance. I just love Huwey's twiddley lead work. Nice to see a live footage with Clive Deamer on drums. Must have been in late 1984 or early 1985, when Alan Davey had joined and Clive was still in the band.

  • Great to see Huwy wail on this.

I hadn't seen it until today, it's on John from Chaos Illuminations' page.

Top vid, very impressed, the band were on top form here.

Huwy is wailing again now btw.

    Regards, Croog.

  • Forgot to mensh...it was ECT, broadcast on Channel 4 early evening (5.30ish) on Friday nights, presumably when the Tube was 'out of season'?

  • Not sure about repeating it. Most of the bands on it were SHITE! Tobruk, Magnum, Venom, Heavy Pettin to name but a few. I've got most of this show on VHS somewhere in the attic. Hawkwind were by far the highlight for me, at a time when I'd just discovered them....and the Hawkwind lifestyle! ;-)

    Great memories!

  • IT WAS ECT ON CH4.THEY SHOULD REPEAT IT

  • Yep it was ECT they did The Right Stuff with Dave saying he smoked the right stuff, Doctor and the Medics did a cover of Silver machine on the same show

  • HAWKMUNGUS!!!

  • long live the leadmill

  • Good to see Brocky wearing his Sheffield University Tolk Soc badge, and Clive Deamer on drums. Wasn't the programme called ECT and was on C4?

  • Yeah I think you're right about the programme. I remember Huw touring around this time, jeez he could play.

  • @oaap Still can.
