I just get a series of white frames. Even in the little preview section where you can choose the section of the video you want, if I play the video its just white.

You have to go to Window and click on Animation

I think you automatically get timeline animation so you have to go to the upper right corner of the animation window and click the three lines and click Convert to Frame animation.

Hey guys I'm using CS5 64bit, when I try to import video frames to layers, I get an error message saying 64bit version is not able to preform the task and I have to use 34bit. I've only got 64bit version installed, is there a plug-in or update to fix this?

@ParadoxDiscrepancy I had the same problem when I first made gifs in Photoshop. If you want the gif to work on Tumblr, the file size should not exceed 500kb. Learn how to optimize the image to make the file size smaller. It will work just fine on Tumblr if it's 500kb or less.

For everyone who is wondering how to cut the black sides off their .gif. You do it the same way you'd do a picture. You select all the frames, hit the crop icon, crop it the way you want it, then hit image > crop. :3
