  • THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL HUMBLE HYMNAL...IT IS FOUND IN MANY CONGREGATIONS....PLEASE LISTEN AND READ THE WORDS AMEN. GOD BLESS ONE AND ALL...

  • I'm generally not the kind of person to collect and listen to worship music casually, but I've always reserved an exception for this one... simply my favorite classic hymn of all time.

  • This really appeals to my senses. Thank you for sharing your talents.

  • I can't tell you how many times I come back to this video/song.... In great times of pain it reminds me of where my trust, loyalty and whole being belong... I've also "creatively borrowed" this version for our choir... Many, many thanks to you.

    Rob

  • This rendition of the song is beautiful yet haunting, to say the least.

  • Oh man. If I could get in touch with the singer, it would mean so much to me!

  • I have watched this over and over and over and over and over! wonderful job my brother/sister! God bless you and your loved ones!

  • Wow this is absolutely beautiful and fantastic <3

  • where can I get a mp3 of this?

  • nice version, but you forgot to include pictures of the Last Supper, after all this song is based on the preparation prayer for the Liturgy of St James the Just of Jerusalem [from about the mid-300s A.D.---right about the time the NT was gathered in one place] , in anticipation of Christ becoming fully Present in His Body-Blood & Soul-Divinity upon the altar under the "appearance" of "bread & wine." The song was never about the Incarnation per se, but the Eucharist.

  • Is there anyway I can get the accompaniment track to this song?

  • is there anyway to get the accompaniment track to this song?

  • it was wonderful to sing this song in church today

  • This video/song has been an awesoe reminder during this season of lent. Daily I worship and praise and remember His sacrifine for me! (us)

  • My darkest times so far on earth - some came when I doubted, some came when I was full of faith and could meet them in strength. When I doubted, and was crushed with despair, God did something - something in his own time - to restore my faith. Sometimes it was gradual. Sometimes it was a very profound act that I think only I myself could really comprehend because it was so personally directed at my own life and circumstances. But it has always happened. I think God really likes me and loves me.

  • For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

  • Holy God,

    Holy Might One,

Have mercy on us and on the whole world.

    Amen

  • @mottledbrain "Holy God, Holy and Mighty One, Holy and Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world" is the prayer in full...it is from Christ's revelation to St Mary Faustina in the 1930's about His Divine Mercy. Drawn from the Eastern Churches' liturgy of the Eucharist.

  • @burkardhanis Dominus vobiscum!

  • @mottledbrain et cum spiritu tuo

  • I really like this song. I've never had much care for Psalms and things like that, but this is so good.

  • Beautiful!!! Thank you and God Bless!+

  • could someone give me definitive proof that God exist. I'm not just saying this to get attention. For some reason I keep questioning my faith in Him. I just need something to put my mind at peace. please someone help me.

  • @jalepenomack How about the fact that everything in the universe runs so smoothly? I believe that only if it were intelligently designed would it have the ability to do that. Don't mistake that for meaning I don't believe in evolution. Evolution, in fact, is a perfect example. If one species dies another evolves to take it's place. When unbalance occurs, balance always comes back. I see God in that.

  • I've personally found that the cosmological proofs of His existence are quite sound, although no matter what you do you must clearly define every premise that you acknowledge when trying to think through something like this.

    Consider the "Prime Mover" standpoint and try as hard as you can to understand every facet of it (not just a particular prime mover argument, but the entire prime mover standpoint);

Consider, especially, the definition of "God."

  • @jalepenomack Watch the movies or read the books by Lee Strobel titled The Case for Faith and The Case for Christ. They are amazing and will surely do your faith good. Knock and the door will be opened unto you, seek and you shall find.

  • @jalepenomack, no i can't but i've been there pal. Talk to God. Tell Him. Trust me, He will answer.

  • @jalepenomack - could you message me so that I could help you? I think it would take more than a few comments to resolve this. ^_^

  • 0:39 best picutre ever

  • I used this song for the Eucharist this week... Was surprised that the oldies knew it well...

  • They made a concert band peice made around this song. It sounds really neat but it is really hard to play.

  • song is actually one form of prayer, and this is one of the best ones for keeping faith alive.

  • From the Divine Liturgy of St. James.

  • My 9th grade choir is learning this song, it's beautiful. But I do not think the rest of the people realize the beauty in it. I really don't.

  • The truth of God's love is so freakin powerful. I love how this video demonstrates His passionate transcendence of the ages in order to rescue us and carry us into the glorious victory of abiding in Him as his beloved.

  • H2O Tropicals?

  • lovely

  • Beautiful words & Bible quotes! Many people who've had Near Death Experiences have reported that the Angels really DO have 6 wings..... we must always trust God's word! :-)

  • when i hear this song..i hve tears in my eyes

  • There are also videos of this number with a different melody - one I've never heard before.

  • This was made into a Christmas carol??? I don't recognise it as any Christmas song....which one is it???

  • Classic. Better than the junk they serve up in Churches these days.

  • @TempleOfLight888 - They serve up something so much better in Catholic Churches...the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ...the Eucharist

  • @TempleOfLight888 it was from my church that I learned of this song.

  • This is so incredibly beautiful!

  • Corpus Christi. Amen!

  • Thanks for this hymn. Glory to God in the Highest Heaven !!! God bless you for uploading this hymn. May I ask who sang this version and from where can I get it in CD? cheers.

  • SO TRUE. thats why it is in the Holy Communion section of the hymnal index.

    it's Hymn 197 in the 1940 Hymnal.

The Holy Eucharist is what it's all about. To many people don't know what that means. very sad.

  • This is the ancient liturgy of Jerusalem, the liturgy of St. James, turned into a Christmas carol so that Protestants with can sing it a clear conscience. It's basically Eucharistic and expressive of the Real Presence, but if you look the other way you can pretend it's simply about the Incarnation. Of course it is about the Incarnation, but it's about a whole lot more as well!

  • Great video, I am just learning about what it means to celebrate Advent and this song has become special to me during this Christmas season. Good job! Blessings in Christ~

  • My choir sings this every year..its my favorite.

  • my choir sang this song last year

  • Thanks for this GREAT video! :)

    + Soli Deo Gloria!

  • A bit eerie. And the transitions don't fit the movie I dont think. It's cool though.

  • nice video n song sis..lov ya

  • Beautiful video! Just gorgeous - the imagery and the soundtrack are fantastic and uplifting. Thank you!

  • does anyone know where the picture at 1.20 can be found?

  • Pic is Glory to God in the Highest by Tom Dubois...

  • thanx for that ur a legend

  • Yes, He reigns. And what a glorious sacrifice we have in the Perfect One, slain, without just cause, innocent, for the guilty. No greater act of injustice (the most guiltless destroyed by the most guilty) or mercy (the most guiltless one sacrificing Himself for his guilty accusers and for the whole, guilty world) will ever occur like it in the universe.

How wonderful a God there is, and how powerfully this music and video tries to capture a glimpse of it. Well done.

  • That is amazing. What a blessing. Praise God.

  • Thank you. :) God bless you.

  • happy soul

  • Minor typo around 6 mins 30 secs: Trust in the lord with all "you" heart - right near the end of the video - it should read "your".

Well done. Jeff sounds great and the transitions are smooth and moving.

  • Sorry for the typo! Oops.

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • THanks! ^^

  • 1. Beautifully done--my favorite hymn.

    2. Who is Jeff Macare? Never heard of him and he doesn't appear on searches.

    3. I believe the words are "Christ our God to Earth descendeth" (as He is PRESENT when the bread is confected) and not descended (which is the "past tense" Christ).

Thanks so much for posting this.

  • 1. Thanks, mine too!

    2. I've only heard of him on the album "Communion" where they have these various artists to sing solemn hymns like this one. You can google "Communion" and "Maranatha". (I'm not Maranatha but their song are great)

    3. Thanks for the correction! I will change it ASAP! =)

  • Re #3 - I'm not certain, but think it's appropriate--double check the words from another source.

    God Bless and thanks again

  • what video editing program are you using for the cool transitions?

  • OneTrueMedia (it's a free online website). :)

  • I love this song. We sang it, but a lil differently, at our last choir concert.

  • I've heard different versions, like some are faster tempo. So I know what you mean.

  • I Love the parts like 'descended and faithful and -llelujah

  • Anyone know the name of the image/painting of Jesus holding the man up? It's the screenshot with the passage from Collosians.

  • I think it's called "Forgiven" by Thomas Blackshear II.

  • Is this on a CD somewhere or something? The song I mean..

  • Yes, it's from the album "Communion".

  • i sang this at my highschool choir concert, you should check out my vid, it is only 30 seconds

  • OK, I'll check it out soon. :)

  • this a beautiful touching song im crying

  • I feel the same way about it.

  • great

  • Thanks. :)

  • Thanks!

  • :))

  • God bless you, avpd85, and keep you safe from the Agnostics that deride your good works. If you believe, you WILL see the glory of God.

  • AMEN

  • Thankyou so much great vid and music

    cheets :-)

  • You're welcome. :)

  • I loved this video and the singing is truly amazing too. Who is the guy singin????

  • Thank you. :)

The guy singing it is Jeff Macare from the "Communion" album. It's various artists.

  • Awesome! Excellent work!

  • Thanks, Alan. ^_^
