You can play games, watch videos, etc. All those leisure activities on one bill.(Unless you buy things online)Reuse things from your childhood for entertainment. For me, I got sports and retro gaming. You can easily live on a lower income at these costs. Lower income has become a norm on its own. BC has expensive housing. With these I should be able to live here.

I AM a part of Generation Y. I was born in February of 1990. You got the identity thing spot on. I grew up in the lower middle class area though. I believe in hard work accomplishing things. Personally I am happy living with my video game consoles with my many games. These games are hours in length and are very enjoyable. They are also VERY REPLAYABLE. This fact for me is enough to stop myself from consuming so much. Now, I only need education, basic needs, and a faster internet.

You are right on the money. Not only material needs but social needs. They wil be vulnerable when they are alone, but in a group they may set aside their morals and be quite dangerous and foolish to show off for their friends. Having a lack of confidence is frowned upon to an irrational extreme, and they will easily set aside important morals and values to become a part of something. In ones, they won't say a word, in two's they'll have a good old time making fun of you. Power in numbers.
