  • How many videos are saying this 'add 4/5 inches?!' Does that mannequin really look like a 32B?! No, because it is a 28E! Very odd... I think it is probably because they want you to fit into the sizes they sell, instead of your true size. Girls, PLEASE go get fitted at a stockist which sells band sizes from 28-40, and cup sizes up to a K and beyond, so you get your true bra size!

  • At Alexandra Lingerie and Swimwear :)

  • @bridosbabe Agree totally! Adding 4-5 inches is an outdated method! I fit very comfortably in a 30K bra, yet by this method I am a 34DDD! I once went to Victoria's Secret where they measured me and told me I was 34DD interesting, they randomly knocked a cup size off what is supposedly my 'correct' size by this method; I wonder why..oh because they don't carry triple D(not to mention K). lol!

  • if the center panel doesnt fit does it mean you need a bigger size? and the cups pucker?

  • I'm pretty sure this is wrong. My bra size would be a 32C according to this video. Couldn't fit into that if my life depended on it.

  • So how many women is this video helping

    Gender Age

    Male 45-54

    Male 55-64

    Male 35-44

    good to know. :)

  • using the "traditional" method for calculating bra size in a modern bra results in a band size far too big, and a cup size which is too small. the materials have changed! nowadays bra bands are much more elastic. for some reason, many people feel intimidated by what are considered larger cup sizes. but it's a common misconception that a woman with D cups is extremely well endowed. take a look at the bravissimo homepage for example! :)

  • @LadieChaya --

I love you. (not in a creepy way.)

    (I wear 30K and I look like most people's idea of a D cup. :) )

  • I am 19 years old and I am not even sure I have been wearing the correct bra size my whole life........

  • If you do this, and don't come up with a measurement that makes sense, or if the size doesn't work for you, go someplace and have them measure you. If you get confused, go and get yourself measured someplace. Most bra stores (all of the ones I know of) are happy to help!

  • Ahhh wrong! You don't add! That's not the right way to do it! If you want to know the right way to do it, measure tightly under the bustline, that's your band. Now measure loosely around the bust, that's your bust measurement. Subtract the two measurements, convert to letters, that's your cup size. No addition involved! The mannequin is really about a 28E!

  • @runnernet a 28E? Does that look like a 28E to you? If you measure your breasts that way your bra will be too small and the cups will be too big (if you can even find one in that size).

  • you find lots of sizes like this at figleaves, bravissimo and brastop :)

  • @SpidersAreNotScary

you find lots of these sizes at bravissimo, brastop or figleaves.

  • @runnernet I completely agree with you. Just because it doesn't sound like a bra size doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. The mennequin would be wearing a 32B of theirs, but that is wrong. If I used those measurements that they did I would come out with a much to small size.

  • Hey supremeon1 She uses inches because she is in the US. If she were in another part of the world she would use the local measurements. Get over it and get a conversion chart.

  • what is a half inch difference?

  • @NiftyMs A half inch difference would round up to the next cup. If there is only a half inch differnece between your band and bust size, it would be an A cup. :) I hope I helped, though its been a few months since you posted the question.

  • i got 28 and i added 5 + 1 and its 34... but the chest is 32..... so i am a -A????? please help me i dont get it!

  • @TheRoyalMakeUp Add five if it's odd, four if its even. When you measure your chest, make sure you don't move the part on your back. She did it a little wrong in the video, but all the other videos about bra measuring say to add five if it's odd, four if its even.

  • @TheRoyalMakeUp Eh, their measurements are wrong. Try a 28D, or 30C instead please. o.0'

  • i wus 32 inchs is that a 32b? cause im confused

  • @alizaro u add 5 inches for the part under the breast

  • I found it to work for me and I couldn't believe my size!... For two years now I've been wearing a B cup and it was just awful but, I didn't think I was big enough for the other sizes untill I tried this out and it said I was a D so I jumped up and ran to the store and tried one on and it fit so perfect TY

  • In other news: the instructions that everyone is always given include "measure when wearing a well-fitted bra".

You might address the Catch-22 here...?

  • I hate to say this, but it's almost impossible to understand your company name when you say it, which is partially cause it's French, and partially cause you don't break it out of the copy enough when you say it.

  • what happens if they both are the same numbers like 32 and 32 :|

  • Okay, I got most of it.

But when your measuring your boobs, is it with a bra or without?

  • that method didint work for me -_-

  • @NISHIRU I know, it didn't work for me either. I ended up with a really stupid measurement, 42A. There is no such size as a 42A!

  • she can measure my penis anytime!!

  • why does she go up 4 inches for around the underboob

  • 26 inches? More accurately a 30C, not a 32B. Just because you don't have a size in stock doesn't mean it doesn't exist...

  • so do we measure with or without a bra on?

  • tip: better a bit tight than loose

  • umm the middle panel never touches my skin that trick really does not work for 36DDD's

  • is that her mum at the back? lol

  • This is completely irrelevant but her voice is awesome.

  • same!

  • 34C

    lol

  • i love breasts ! :)

  • so do i but i hate manikins

  • @yogre89 we all do! :D

  • @yogre89 Too bad the "Icing" on these "Cakes" is boring!!! Bras are supposed to be CLASSY sheer and lacy!

  • how are you going to get support if you add 5 inches to your band?

    INCORRECT SIZING!

  • 5 inches to the number not the size... that's how you get the size around. your size plus 5

  • or get a man to measure you up in bed at night. and discuss the size with him at next morning.

  • lol i only watched this to be able to estimate.....stuff......yea.....

  • she is hott

  • nice

  • Due to a birth defect, a bra will never sit flat against my chest. Any tip on getting something that fits well?

  • @Hadra568 : you're sure you have the correct size? We tend to blame or bodies and boobs for unfitting bras but it's completely the other way round. It's the incorrect size that makes us look bad. Check out bfcidade for examples.

  • @aleksandralm

I've been professionally fitted several times, and had a custom made bra so I'm sure my size is correct.

I have also spoken to others with the same defect and they have the same problem getting bras to fit.

  • @Hadra568: if you mean by a shop carrying all range of size by saying professionally than it's ok, I don't have questions or doubts;). But it was a shop that has only 30-40% of sizes available on the market, then sorry to say that, I'm always sceptical about advice given in such place....

  • measuring around your bust line and then adding five inches doesnt ALWAYS work, it works, but not always

  • What if your band size is 29 and you add 5 which is 34 and then your boob measurement is 32.5

32.5 - 34 you get a -1.5 which means you're between a B and a C? does it matter if its negative or positive? because all the examples are boob - band and not band - boob.

  • i've been told that it woulld be the difference between the band in this case 26 and then the bust 33, the difference is the cup size so in the example it should be a 32F.... i dunno that mannequin is out of proportion haha.

    i measure 27 band =32 and 31 bust=D, making me a 32D since the difference between 27 and 31 is 4 inches. that's what i've always been told.

  • Does that mannequin look like a F?

  • You always round up numbers when measuring. They also make a bra by playtex that is nearly C. I recommend it.

  • and why doesn't she do it in cm ? :) i hate those inches...

  • @supremeon1 OH YOU POOR THING....TALK ENGLISH IN THIS COUNTRY!

  • There must be a different method of measuring in the states, because the size she should have come up with was a 30D not 32B. I know the add 4/5 inch rule doesn't always apply, but in this case she measured 26 under bust which is an even number so you add 4 not 5. Which gives you 30 band size. If the bust is 30 it would be an A cup +1 =B +2=c +3=D and so on.

  • It's funny to do this on people and see how wrong it is.

I measure my friend, who is VERY large breasted, and it told her she was a 29 (30) B

so we got her one, and she couldn't breathe.

Then she tried on her old size which was 26 D and it fit perfectly..

The truth is, according to every specialist i've talked to (I have a weird bra size), that bras stretch 4 inches or more the first time you wear them, so you don't actually add 5 inches.

  • Uh, duh. You don't get a girl who you claim is very large breasted anything "B" sized; it's not a large size for anything.

  • Also ... it doesn't sit flat between the breasts, and since it is an under wire, it should sit flat between the breasts. @lordares69 ... bra off will give you the most accurate measurement, especially since she's wearing a wrong size bra anyway. Continuing my last comment ... the cup part is right .. measure and subtract the difference between your ribcage and cup measurement. But do NOT add 5 inches, thats ludicrous.

  • For one ... that bra doesn't fit the mannaquin . its pulling away from the ribcage, and should be sitting quite snug on there, also the bra doesnt sit flat between the breasts. for 2-get a mannaquin bigger than a 12 year old boy, seriously 26 inches? And For 3, this mannequin should be wearing a 28D. Not a 32B. You wear what you measure. 26 ribcage, 26 band, or in my case 30 inch ribcage, 30 inch band hich is snug so i wear a 32. Not a freaking 36. I HATE when ppl give bad bra fitting advice.

  • dont yall know that 75% of you women wear the wrong bra size? if thats what you measured at then that's your accurate size. Im a guy, but learning for my wife how to do this accurately, she thinks shes a dd, I think she's bigger, question is, do you measure the bust with a bra on already or what?

  • You can measure with a bra on or off, whichever gives the larger measurement. The bra used however should not be padded at all.

  • this can't be right.. if that's true I'm a negative AA cup... and i actually wear a B cup comfortably .. The add 5" thing seems wrong.. : /

  • @magicchickn : if you measured just like the woman did oon the video it'snot surprising - she did 't even measure the frame tightly - I that's how you should do it - exhale, squeeze the tape (which doesn't stretch but your bra will) and don't add 5 or 6 to that measurement. This system worked when bras were made of unelastic fabric, but some people seem not to have noticed it yet... Check out bfcidade for more brafitting info

  • I measured but, I AM not a B size, but that is what I measured at.

  • Me too!! I'm bigger! how frustrating!

  • no way...the 5" paart can't be right.

  • Measure your size and add 5 inches? o.O Why not make the size the way so it'll just be the measurement? 5 inches is quite a lot. 12.5 centimeters. That would mean a "fitting" bra would at least have 2.5 cm "slack" or spacing. And the same with the cups. It's a really course measurement, and I'd not go there with an inch measure. And I'll make sure I'll never ask for a 90C in America.

  • i havent got a cup i have a mug lol lol lol lol nope mine dont lay on my skin shes not very good at this - could we have it in cms plz instead of inches

  • erm i still dun understand

  • Nothing, just five steps: 1) Take the 1st measurements [26' here] 2) Take the 2nd Measurement [33' ] 3) Do this: Measurement2 - (Measurement1 + 5) Now if u get the answer as 1 = make it A 2 = make it B 3= make it C and so on [In this case: 33-(26+5)=33-31=2, so B] 4) If Measurement1 is a even number add 6, or else add 5 (In this case 26 is even, so 26+6=32) that's the bra size 5) Then you have the complete bra size wen u combine the number and alphabet (32B in this case)
  • umm im 13 and i have 40c bra size is that to big???

  • ask your bf....lol

  • not rli. C cup is fairly normal, but 40 is quite big, unless you are really tall and in that case you are still normal.

  • well im a 36D and im pretty skinny round top so id say its normal

  • @amazzzzzin : if you say you're quite skinny, then why do you wear a band size that is so wide? Skinny girls/women wear 28 or 30 back sizes - they do exist and they are not for teenagers.

  • Everybody is different, ya that is big, but you can;t do anything about it so feel proud!

  • do u do this while wearing a bra already or are u supposed to measure with ur natural stuff ???

  • whats the point of adding 5 to the band size, wouldnt that be too big?

  • Mannekins SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i always wanted 2 kno how 2 measure bra sizes.

    thnx expert village

  • becuase people who have 36Ds are usally fat (36) and big boobs are gross.

i dont think you know what D's look like.

  • A woman is supposed to have extra fat. That's how nature is. Any woman that doesn't have some nice little extra fat is not as pleasant to touch, like a bag of bones. I mean seriously, would you rather feel some miserable golf ball or something, than something that fits in your hand nicely like a baseball? I am a guy and my chest is probably bigger than that woman's. Those kinda tits are freakin embarassing

  • That's your personal opinion, not "how nature is". Ha, wow. Yes, we're supposed to have fat, but no, we're not all supposed to be at least 36Ds.

Women wear bras so they'll have some support for their breasts, and breasts smaller than 36Ds definitely require some support. You obviously suck at empathizing, but imagine walking with two pockets of fat hanging off your chest bouncing up and down.

  • They are not gonna bounce up and down... unless you are like 80 years old.

  • Ok, I know you've seen a topless woman. Her breasts weren't completely still were they?

Dude. I'm a teenage female with breasts. I know what they do.

  • @xjay19 : well, but 36D is not really a big breast... Well, just a woman who's frame measures about 34-35 inches and breasts 39,5 inches...

  • @aleksandralm And your point is that a smaller bust than a 36D wouldn't require support? Or, maybe that 36D is absolute smallest size true 'tits' can be?

    In either case, you're wrong.

  • @xjay19: I was only referring to you saying "we're not all supposed to be at least 36D" - from this statement I simply gleaned that you think these are big breasts - they are not. But I agree they do need to be supported. Actually all breasts need it, maybe apart from real AA or A cups (correctly measured) irrespective of the band size - they could actually do without a bra in quite a lot of situations...

  • @aleksandralm I hear assuming things is harmful to your health.

  • @xjay19: aren't you just getting catty at the moment?

    I

  • @aleksandralm I do enjoy knowledgeable people, but your unguarded and unreasonable arrogance is kinda getting to me, though I don't consider that last line to be catty. You assumed something, and I called you out.

  • i would so love this job

  • to the person who said to buy a smaller size.

  • She measured the band size way too loose!!

  • goob job

  • Odly enough, I 've always had people arguing over my bra size esp. the cup. My sister who is a DD says I'm a B cup and my mother who is a B says I'm a D cup. Instead of dragging on your freind's, family's, and random youtube vlogs opinions, go to your nearest Victoria secret and try on as many bras as possibly until you find yoyr perfect fit! Your opinion is always the best!

  • @PsychoMonkey94 : looking for your right size at Victoria's Secret? Don't make me laugh... They have ridiculously small range of size and dont't have a clue about proper bra-fitting. Actually not surprising - if they knew anything about it they would sell nothing to most women who go there. And now they just tell you everything looks fine even if it doesn't, and they tell you it always looks like that, etc

  • She talks like Fire Marshall Bill.LOL

  • this is wrong!

  • Also, keep in mind that you should ALWAYS by a bra so that you START at the biggest clasp so that as the bra stretches, you can adjust it to fit the same as when you bought it.

Example, if you're a 36 on the tightest clasp, buy a 34 and start on the biggest clasp. As you move around and wash and wear your bra more, there will naturally be more stretching to the fabric. Bras are a huge investment... make them last.

  • that stops your breast growth.

  • WRONG!!! "That's how we do it." That's why 48% if women are wearing the WRONG BRA SIZE!!! I got "professionally" measured and they told me I was a 40 C. Nothing wrong with that, however, when I tried on a 40 C, I was SWIMMING in it!!! So I then tried on about 15 or so more bras in various sized, turns out I'm actually a 34 DD. Sheesh. I say screw whatever they "measure" you as. Just wear what's comfortable and what fits/looks the best.

  • This video is so incorrect!

An underbust of 26 inches and fullbust of 33 inches, really should never be in more than a 30 band, but more likely a 26 or 28 band would fit better. How a 32 band would ever support someone with a 26 inch ribcage I don't know.

As for cup size it's a bit more tricky. But lets say she is a 28 band then it would someone in the region of a DD or E.

  • @Dee226 : in case of this mannequin it should be 28 band - she didn't even measure tighly, so I suppose it's actually less

  • ok, I'm really confused.

is this video correct or not?

  • 59017: She makes the mistake of adding 5 to the underbust measurement. You're not supposed to do that anymore, I'm pretty sure.

  • @59017 : it's not

  • hahaha...doesnt work for the big girls.....

i'm big, and big breasted, and the way she's showoing would make be a B cup

    -_-

  • Nothings supposed to work for the "big girls". This video is for the slim and the beautiful. Lose weight and society will cater to you, thanks.

  • nobody says you have to be an anorexic skinny stick. But nobody wants a fat horse either, put some muscle on for gods sake.

  • TheTerminator97 not everyone who is skinny is anorexic. I'm a 32A and I was just born this way and I eat a ton of food. Don't think everyone who is skinny only got that way because they decided that not eating was a smart idea.

  • Yes I'm totally lying. Because food is evil and that's what all skinny people believe *total sarcasm* if you choose not to believe me then fine. It's called a high metabolism, a lot of people have it.

  • No it's called being delusional, a LOT of people have that problem.

  • Fuck it. I wasn't trying to be rude to you in my first comment just stating a fact but you've turned this into some sort of personal attack.

  • well i m totally agree with u, wt u wrote down! not every skinny people hate eating. Some time is genetic too and they r more factor too

  • oh, i understand your problem...you like to eat too much so you're gaining weight and you have a low self-esteem. stop bothering people.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheTerminator97 Eating enough is about maintaining your health, not gaining weight. :/ Your comment doesn't make any sense.

There's also a HUGE difference between being skinny and being anorexic. Jesus, study even the basics of eating disorders and you'll quickly realize they're very intense mental *disorders*.

  • @TheTerminator97 I'm 16, I eat a ton, I'm a 32 A, and I'm very skinny. how can you say these are lies? I WAS just born this way, and I'm sure the other girl was too. =/

  • thats SO true, i have a really high metabolism and i cant stop eating :P

  • @VanillaflavoredSora : 32 band is not skinny - if you really are try 28 or 30 back sizes - they do exist with - not only for teenagers

  • @linkinladie328 : if you followed her advice you would probably end up with an usupporting bra, with the band riding up to your neck, boobs sagging down, sooner or later back pain etc etc. And the method show doens't work wor slim girls either - in most cases - oit works only for bras with tight, unstretchy bands...

  • KRIP100 : & we need to know this why? are you implying you have big breasts cause honestly, you don't. my friend is 13 and she has a C cup.

  • 30 a

  • Comment removed

  • I know this may sound weird, but I'm a 32F. The way the bra is, it looks like I'm a B or at the most, a C cup. The cup size isn't as big as people would think. I found this out because I recently got a bra fitting. Note: Ladies once your bust has stopped growing, get a bra fitting! Did you know not wearing the right bra can cause neck pain, shoulder pain, and even headaches?

  • dont worry its the same for me too. i am a 10G in Australian sizing which is equivalent to UK's 32FF and when i wear my bras they make my breasts look really small too like B or C cups. ur right, our sizes may seem massive and to me i think my size is just an average breast size. :) minimizer full figure bras are the most comfortable to wear.

  • I agree :) I have never had a bra strap fall off my shoulder, nor complained of discomfort :)

  • Woah that is some skill at fitting your bra. Bra straps always fall off my shoulder..

  • @BoOmBaStiC84 : don't wear minimizers - they just flatten your breast by pushing them towards your armpits and back. You're ruining your boobs with them. They onl invented them CURVY and this curviness differs from one to another. But why make shirts and other tops that would accomodate different sizes of breasts, let's make women flatted their breast - because big breasts have to hidden... etc etc

  • @BoOmBaStiC84 : don't wear minimizers - they just flatten your breast by pushing them towards your armpits and back. You're ruining your boobs with them. They onl invented them beacuse some clothes manufectures cant understand a simple fact that women are CURVY and this curviness differs from one to another. But why make shirts and other tops that would accomodate different sizes of breasts, let's make women flatted their breast - because big breasts have to hidden... etc etc

  • GAH! This is wrong, that is not a B cup model, because you can see there is more than 2 inches difference. There are some bra comapanies that still use the +5 technique, however, to figure out the cup you still use the difference between the original number. That would be 32-26= 6, which would make this a 32DD. However, many companies don't do the +5 and so it would actually be a 28DD. You can also see the bra doesn't fit on the maniquein because it raises off the rib cage.

  • becouse only "B" or "DD" it counts for nothing. We must have two sizes: underbust and cup. The cup is the diffrent between underbust and bust. And it is diffrent in 30 and 40, isn't it?

I can wear 36FF or 32HH and it is for the same circumference in bust (about 109cm [43inch]).

Maybe try to try on smaller underbust and larger cup?

  • This is total bullshit. The idea that you have to add five inches to the underbust measurement is a complete myth, and makes no sense at all! According to the instructions given in this video, I should be wearing a 34B, but I actually wear a 30F. A 34 band would offer no support whatsoever, and any so-called professional bra fitter who sells bras that fit like that should be ashamed of themselves. You are letting women down and purpetrating a lie.

  • If you are a bra fitter and you follow this method, then I'm sorry but you were trained wrong!

The best way to tell if you have the correct band size is that it should fit firmly on the biggest adjustment. You should be able to fit no more than a fist under the back of the bra. There is no way that the band will be a snug fit if you add five inches to it.

  • I have an updated version of my bra fitting guide on my website if anyone is interested, just google "belladonna eyes" and "bra fitting"

or alternatively, watch the other series of bra fitting videos, ironically also posted by expertvillage!

  • ok.... um i wear a 30a as i am onlyy young but it sais i shoulfd be a 32b! this is rubbish. u ukians, go 2 m&s...

  • Why do they add the inches? When I did that it said I should be a 38A, but I actually fit perfectly in a 34DD or 36D (depending on the brand).

  • for this measurment (26-34 inch or 66cm-86cm) the right size is UK 28F (60F). Or 26G (55G) but it is impossible to buy it.

  • Not impossible, but very difficult. Bravissimo in the UK and Nordstroms in the US should have that kind of size.

  • Sorry, I just noticed you said 28F or 26G. Yeah, it is pretty much impossible to get anything smaller than a 28 band size, even with the specialist brands. I did once see a bra that was supposed to come in a 26" band size, but they weren't very attractive!

  • Well, I'm not going to buy bra in every store then - If I do I would get a bra with the bad sliding, my boobs would end up dangling down on my belly, some of them bulging under my armpits some popping out under the band - hmmm, a well fitted bra according to you guys working in lingerie stores... And I'm NOT the only one who decided to give up shopping in "normal" stores - we buy online - full range of sizes IS there - we don't need you anymore, there are more and more of us - in well-fitted

  • bras. We just drop from time to time to do some "shop assistant baiting" - to see this panic/confusion in the eyes of the person working there - "28H? They don't make such sizes. Let me give you a 34D, it's the same" - just shows how LITTLE you guys know.

  • "The inches compensates for the parts of the bras that have the hooks and eyelets"

That doesn't make sense. The hook and eye section is about 2" wide, so if a 34" band measures 34" on the biggest set of eyes, it would be 32" on the smallest. Still 2" too big for a 30" underbust! This only justifies adding 2 inches at the most, and even then it's wrong because a new bra is meant to fit on the *biggest* adjustment - the purpose of the adjustability is to compensate for the bra wearing out!

  • Omg what a crap! o_O'

You heave to SUBTRACT 2-4", NOT ADD! Bra has to support your boobs, not just cover! If you do it just as that lady says, your boobs hang down sadly.. Do what you want, but I like my boobs looking forward, proud of how beautiful they are.

Bless ya, Lobby. You saved my Boobs. :)

  • Adding 5 inches to a band size is a complete BULLSHIT!!! A band that is so big doesn't even have a chance of giving a proper support, it will slide up and end up on your shoulder blades. Have they taught you that 80% of support should come from the band -otherwise you have the weight of your boobs on yopu shoulders. What shop do you work for? What sizes does it carry? Does it have bands from 28 to40 (or more) and cup sizes from AA to K (or higher)? Or perhaps VS - where they tried to fit me

  • into a 36 band, God only know what cup... I wear 30GG, I used to wear 34DD and the difference is emormous. first of all, my boobs don't pop out of the cups in every possible direction (down, up, sideways - under my armpits) and I put on my brain the morning, take it off in the eventing and I don't have to correct it even once during a day.

Sorry, but from what you say about adding inches I suspect that what you are trained at is just selling your clients badly fitting bras.

  • If you are a professional bra fitter and you use this method, then unfortunately you were trained incorrectly. The band needs to be able to support most of the weight of the bust, and in order to do this it needs to be a firm, snug fit. If I follow the instructions here it gives me a band two sizes too big! I know it's only meant to be a guide, but what's the point in using a measurement formula that is 0% accurate?
