After seeing this video I was so shocked! I do believe that if she was a white woman, she would not have her head like that. As a security officer who has shucked on a dangerous woman with a knife, what I would tell you is that from my POV, she was dangerous, extremely dangerous with that knife. It was the lady cop's job to neutralize the threat , not wait for back up. Whether theres fear or not, you do what you have to do. It is regrettable that the woman was hurt but the officer tried to wrest the gun away and was unable. At that point, the level of force was necessary.

In cases like this, people should have grabbed that cop & made a citizens arrest & called the State police, & filed formal charges. If EVERYBODY started doing that, & if THEY are charged with assaulting a P.O., juries consistently use their powers of "JURY NULLIFICATION" it would not only send a message that this behavior must stop, it might actually MAKE it stop. The police could have handled this situation a LOT better. They could have talked her down peacefully if they had caring, skilled people. What you do is just calm her down and talk meanwhile, call for help. Then if negotiating doesnt work, you gently restrain her and take the knife.
Slamming the old woman to the ground was absolutely horrible and worse TOTALLY unnecessary.

I also want to say that it appears the woman resisted arrest after shoplifting and pulled the knife on security, so the cops came. I do not believe other accounts.

As a security officer who has shucked on a dangerous woman with a knife, what I would tell you is that from my POV, she was dangerous, extremely dangerous with that knife. It was the lady cop's job to neutralize the threat , not wait for back up. Whether theres fear or not, you do what you have to do. It is regrettable that the woman was hurt but the officer tried to wrest the gun away and was unable. At that point, the level of force was necessary.
