PIneisland777, without betting, there is no horseracing. Horses as a hobby and sport would take a huge loss, and they would become expensive pets for rich people, and not able to be enjoyed be anyone...especially me, cause Im poor-but horse rich :)
More people need to see these clips! Very very touching. I love how Barbaro was a bit of a punk (as I affectionately call my horse when she is being pushy and rude) with all the adults, yet you can see him give Alex a little tap with his nose and then sniff his hat gently. I bet with anyone else he'd pull that hat right off!
horse racing has it's downside, all those terrible loss' every year, but theres more to it then a bunch of little men and their horses chasing each other around a track. its the feelings that come out of it. the glory and wonder of a winner, watching him pull away from the other horses without a care in the world, just flying down the stretch, THAT is the spirit that lies within this sport. i believe the betting is wrong, it gives people the wrong idea.
At the very end, Barbaro blows in his ear....you haven't lived until you've experienced something like that. Can't wait for this documentary to come out.
Yeah it's a terrible loss, just imagine if this horse was not forced to race he would still be alive! Horse racing is one of the most cruel and inhumane sports i know. How would YOU like to have some one sitting on you're back! and i grew up with horses!
Thank you for this personal moment on the backside with two incredible individuals, Barbaro and Michael Matz. Can't wait for the movie... VERY special.
I loved that nudge too.. and then again and son sort of pulled away and then felt comfortable petting his muzzle again. I can't stand the ache when I really focus on Barbaro and his presence I've felt all these months. He is no more, they actually cremated him rather than, I would have hoped, a full burial, not "head, hooves and heart." Winder why cremation.

Thanks for the clips! It's great to see Barbaro outside of his races too, just as a horse. I'm so jealous of Alex Matz!
