There's only one violin in the audio, so no, it's not true that two violinists recorded this, in perfect unison down to the nanosecond, with impossibly perfect technique. So, not only is it not a live performance, but it's not even a studio performance of two violins "dueling," whatever that means.

I would like to point out that the two playing actually are well known for playing the violin and they actually are both wearing mics and those who play the violin are just mad because they are not playing in front of that many people. also it is impossible to saw on a violin like that and not make noises that you would not be able to here in the audience

Sure, you can play while moving around, but it's likely that there would be some modulation produced because of it. When you jump and land, the bow pushes harder against the strings, and the sound gets louder. Do you see that happening here?

@beritbe Actually, violins and other instruments that are hollow like that, ESPECIALLY the big ones like the cellos, Will continue to make sound for several seconds after you remove the bow from the strings, because it (the sound) is still reverberating in side the instrument. Guitars also do that, to a degree, but it's less noticeable on them for some reason, I haven't figured out why yet.

Not a play back, if you look, their feet tapping isn't in time with the music either so probably a second out of synch - don't have to be a genius to work that out.
@xxxcharlotte06021xxx If you look, you also see that one second the video is a little ahead of the audio, and two seconds later it is a bit behind. The video and audio never coincide for more than a second or so. So obviously it's not a synch issue, no matter how you set the synch they are not playing what you are hearing. note that in the end the music continues and the violins stop! So I think that the ugly is playing upon a burning one deceiving the people watching this! but the girls are pretty anyway!
ha i'm a viola/violin major and i could go on for hours about what a terrible experience watching this was. they could have at least taught them to fake a little better my goodness.
In fact... you can really tell it's a playback at 3:37 because once they lift their bows for the finale, you can still hear the last bits of the violins playing.

The string will still be vibrating and making sound even after the bow stops touching it.That's why they do not take their hands off the fret board at the end, so they can hold the note.
@agentsas55 Dude, they're holding on to the fret board because if they let go, the violins would drop to the ground. When you take the bow off the string, the volume drops 90% and you lose all the harmonics. You guys are hilarious :-)
@janelavisant janelavisant3....do you know why the music keeps playing after they lift their bow? its because they arent the only ones playing. if you listen in the background music there is an accordion and a tin whistle playing. once they life their bow, you dont hear the violin sound...you hear the tin whistle!!!!!
@usmcboi13 Yes, after they lift their bows you can hear the whistle and the accordion. You can also still hear the violin, it's quite obvious because of the vibrato. Lifting the bows has zero effect on the sound. The only explanation is that they are not playing what we're hearing. @janelavisant is correct.
@LouTaylor100 LouTaylor100...thats not vibrato from the fiddle. if you quickly move your finger up and down over the 2nd open hole on he whistle it creates the vibrato...thats what youre hearing at the end. Mrs Nesbitt is way too good of a irish violin player to ever fake what shes doing.

@janelavisant i am not saying that this is not a playback because im pretty sure it is.... but your reason is retarded, have you ever played any string instrument?
The string will still be vibrating and making sound even after the bow stops touching it.That's why they do not take their hands off the fret board at the end, so they can hold the note.

@agentsas55 Dude, they're holding on to the fret board because if they let go, the violins would drop to the ground. When you take the bow off the string, the volume drops 90% and you lose all the harmonics. You guys are hilarious :-)

@janelavisant janelavisant3....do you know why the music keeps playing after they lift their bow? its because they arent the only ones playing. if you listen in the background music there is an accordion and a tin whistle playing. once they life their bow, you dont hear the violin sound...you hear the tin whistle!!!!!

@usmcboi13 Yes, after they lift their bows you can hear the whistle and the accordion. You can also still hear the violin, it's quite obvious because of the vibrato. Lifting the bows has zero effect on the sound. The only explanation is that they are not playing what we're hearing. @janelavisant is correct.

@LouTaylor100 LouTaylor100...thats not vibrato from the fiddle. if you quickly move your finger up and down over the 2nd open hole on he whistle it creates the vibrato...thats what youre hearing at the end. Mrs Nesbitt is way too good of a irish violin player to ever fake what shes doing.

@usmcboi13 the vibrato is an octave lower than the whistle is capable of playing. Perhaps you can explain how this is possible. Please keep posting, the logical contortions that you fans go thru to try and explain that awful ending are more entertaining that the video itself :-)

@janelavisant Dancing and playing violin is easy. Two people dancing while playing in unison so perfectly that they sound exactly like one violin, down to the nanosecond, is impossible. That fact should be obvious, but apparently it's too complex for some folks here.

@maireadnesbittfan She didn't. Mairead and Cora Smyth had been playing this simple(for them) song daily for two years before this show. Everyone called the Flatley shows "100% live" - even Mairead in an interview listed on her webpage. Every troll and nut in youtube comes to this video to make fools of themselves. It's just an old, really bad Flash recording of this show.

@IntoTheMystical Your ignorance of Adobe Flash is stunning. There is no such thing as a "Flash recording". Flash is a player, not a recorder. It plays any file of any quality. The quality of this audio is standard CD quality as anybody can see by downloading it and checking the properties, which show a stereo 44100 Hz sample rate. You need a new sound card, or a new hearing aid.

Yea, fake, The giveaway is at the end when they both lift their bows too early and the music is still playing. It's okay if you like rock videos, but the jumping around and fast cuts between cameras makes it impossible to what they're actually playing. It's a show, not a musical performance.
