I wish my French instructor would speak to me in English. It is so much easier to grasp things when they are explained to me in my own language. I am a total beginner and she talks to mostly only in French. Last week she gave me an assignment to do for this week but told me in French. I dint have it this week because I had no idea that I had an assignment. Is this normal? am I misunderstanding her genius? Or is my hunch correct that she is not a good teacher? At least not for level 1.
@Aprilshowersss Perhaps she's being a bit tough on you so you work harder outside class. When it comes to learning a language, what you take in class is never enough- I don't know if it's just a class you have to take or you really want to learn- but you need to work a lot harder outside class. Basically, you need to be patient and most importantly have the desire to do so because it's not easy. 2 years ago, I wasn't able to speak English, now I believe I got it. All you need is time my friend!
Merci Madame! I am currently in college and taking my FIRST language class EVER. This really helped a lot because we start something new each day and I need further help! Thank God for YouTube!

krisokris011498 9 months ago

It depends of the regions, some do, some don't...

The best for me is video with English translation, French phrase/word, and writing as well as audio (and preferably a human face too). Then I say the word/phrase in context - so for example with 'Excusez moi', I add 'mademoiselle' and say "Excusez moi mademoiselle, you have forgotten your shopping!"
