I started a blog on topics relevant for moonkins in World of Warcraft back in November. I have only - ONLY - "advertised" about it through my signature on a forum i post on regulary, updating the *text* add with the name of my latest blog post.
Three months later, i have 300 daily visits.
The morale is, post your blog where it is relevant, and that will be fine :)

I'd say put more effort in to the material in your blog instead so that it becomes popular because of it's quality and not is advertisement.
