  • The answer to the question: there are noticeable differences between the profiled amp and the profiler is: Yes. But subtle. I Bet a trained grammy award composer to recognize it in a recorded song during a guitar solo, impossible to tell differences in rythm guitars. But maybe there is still work to do if we are speaking about comparing ONLY the two amps.

  • When did Heston Blumenthal start playing guitar?

  • wenns wirklich gut klingt wärs das krasseste was ich je an innovation gesehen hab die letzten 10 jahre im Gitarrenbereich...

  • What's the price range looking to be?

    Anybody have any guesses?

  • @TheOfficialGoomba ~1800USD

  • Comment removed

  • that is. awesome!

  • If the Kemper is what it truly states it is, then this is truly revolutionary and Fractal Audio Axe Fx will be a thing of the past. They have to get it mounted into a 2u though.

  • Cool concept but the original sounds far better. Better than the line 6 junk though.

  • Wow I love that device. Out of my price range, but wow! I could use this to profile the sound I have now and leave my secret sauce at home.

  • ...Mäusekino !!! LES

  • Why can't they just sell a version of this as software? You could run a library of preset profiles in your computer. THAT would sell.

  • @audiotrax2000 it can get pirated, which would make this business a loss

  • Does it wash clothes, too?

  • shhh, don't talk too loud, you'll wake the children.

  • EW! The design looks like shit! Get a good industrial designer! :s And yeah! The looks do matter!

  • An interesting concept although it does seem as though the profiling is simply using a convolution engine to capture the mic and cabinet & room. It seems that the distortion is created from within the unit itself so the home/studio user can have the same thing going on by using any modeller with the cabs switched off and then using an impulse of a cabinet run through a convolution vst.

  • Question: Does the microphone-type and/or speaker-type matter in the profiling? In otherwords, would the profile be different if there was a different mic used and/or a different speaker used? I would almost think that those magic-algorithms must have an optimum test-criteria (like an isolated SM57 mic'ing a Celestion Vintage 30 12" speaker.) I would think that the profiler's algorithm would NOT want the imperfections/variations of unknown/varied mics & speakers to yield consistent results???

  • Das ist. . . krass. Ich glaube hier liegt die Zukunft.

Werdet ihr den "amp" mit ein paar vorgefertigten Presets ausliefern, oder ist da jeder auf sich gestellt? Der Profiling-prozess ist ja noch relativ aufwändig.

  • This looks really cool, i just wanna get in there and tweak! Think there will be a LE version of this, without the profiling, just the ability to load and tweak "presets"? You could buy packs of presets form "famous" guitarists .. etc .. €€€ to be made :) 1490 is about 4 times the amount i can spend :(

  • This is just another trick pony, maybe good for recordings , but not for live playing.

  • if this thing does what it says it can do, it will revolutionize the music industry

  • so if you show it a recording of a legendary tone like Eruption where there's no drums in the background, would it be able to duplicate it too?

  • @gpek527,

    NO!

The Kemper Profiler HAS TO BE in a closed loop with the amp, (to be profiled) and a mi'd-up speaker for it to do it's magic "profiling-analysis" from the test-tones, etc. It DOES NOT allow/receive as an input an audio-recording (like an .mp3 or.flac of a song like "Eruption.") The only way to get the "Eruption" sound profiled would be to have EVH allow you into his 5150 recording-studio, and hook the Kemper Profiler up to his original 1968 Modded Marshall Super Lead - LOL!

  • Gerrrrmany.... or Florrrida....???

  • Holy shit... this thing is unbeliavable. I'm amazed.

  • Never mind the mind bogglingly accurate modeling technology - check out the design vibe that makes it looks like one of the command modules from the Jupiter 2 on Lost In Space! That would just look so cool in my room :) WANT

  • Yeah, but does it go to 11?

  • Digital is the new tube : )

  • This is incredible, i want one, is it for sale yet?? where???

  • This shit is fucken amazing! I WANT IT SO BAD!

  • Can you give an estemation about the price?

  • Awesome idea! Good luck with it, I hope to see them soon in stores.

  • i wonder if it can save profiles from an fx units of sorts or something other then an amp.

  • is it possible to save the sounds on pc and share them ?? will there be such thing as a forum to share the sounds??

  • I'll tell you what..if I can profile about a dozen killer amps, and this thing can get sonically close, this would be a great gig tool.

  • Wow! I wanna buy one!But I don't have many amps.Do you have many amp presets for those don't have tube amps?

  • @mdgpetrucci Yes it will come with preinstalled amp profiles and you can also share your profiles with others!

Amazing idea and technology..hope it works out in practice!!

  • I'm guessing the biggest issue with these are going to be whether or not they FEEL like the setup it is modeling/profiliing.

Awesome concept though, like any other musical piece of gear I'd probably need to try one first before I could form an opinion. Clips are sometimes deceiving.

  • This is more of a preamp I suppose? I notice the back has master outs, direct out or similar, and monitor out. Cool stuff here! They need to get their website detailed on this item and possibly a pdf of the owners manual so people can see what all is needed to use this.

  • I have a a question..ok you profile an amp and you get a perfect profile of any amp, how do you translate that profile to either you Speaker Cab or FRFR without altering the profile sound?

I own the Fractal and it sounds awesome, but even with various FRFR monitors, it changes the original tone because true FRFR is almost impossible, (despite advertising and marketing claims) there are so many variables involved.

  • This tech had to happen at some point. Kemper is the first out of the gate. Congrats to them btw! I will say that I wouldn't be at all surprised to see other companies looking at offering some kind of "capture" mode at some point.

  • Quite interesting idea. I might hear a difference in the profiled and original , profiled has somehow less high freq , imho

Perhaps it depends how it is captured?

  • Thomas, will the unit already come with some profiled amps? A sharing site for people to upload their personal sounds sounds like a great idea, too.

Any information on the price yet?

  • Tom, can the profiles be saved to flash media? The product seems like a cool device, but having to profile my favorite amps that I don't necessarily own wouldn't be easy. Can the profiles be traded easily between users via internet or flash media? What's the data size of a typical profile? What's the memory of the product?

  • Oh and sorry for all the questions but i am really looking fwd to some more info! this could be what just im looking for! (can't lug all my gear yet id like to have these sounds with me!)

  • Tom i am still very interested in this but i have a question that i dont know if you can answer now or until Namm;

But being the owner of a good simulation box i would like to know how it differs from the way my unit works.

Has there been any advance in non-liner convolution? Otherwise what is so special about the "profile" as opposed to a simulation?

i am just hoping you could shed some more light into this as it is my main concern?

    Thanks again!

  • With due respect, I don't like the audio I am hearing. However, the profiling amp seems to reproduce the original sound fairly well. And the concept is very interesting and new. I'd love to hear more demos of this product perhaps recorded better and with some more dynamic guitar playing. I wish you good luck with your creation.

  • bullshit, i say... honestly, this is nothing special...

  • ok, das Teil is mal richtig geil...

Inwiefern habt ihr euch schon Gedanken über den Preis gemacht?

Ist das Teil nur ein Pre-Amp oder Komplett?

    MFG

    Alex

  • Well yes man i think the fender setup is very interesting and a good way to show the quality of the profile because of how much the guitar and the amp are dynamic etc in that case. and listen to the response/feel

But for that same reason we need some higher gain tones because being more compressed amongst other things they make it easier to compare the amp sound to the profile.

  • Wow, very interested in where this is going! Looking forward to hearing more distorted tones as well. First Fender style sounds I have ever heard from any type of simulation that seem similar to the amp. Is there even a possible price range at this point?

  • thank you for answering all my questions!! looking forward to hear how much it costs and also MORE CLIPS! (including higher gain etc). Watching this really closely!!! It came at the right time: just when i started re-evaluating the huge rig i have been building without considering something called the real world. Just interested in making sure it does deliver in the sound departement.

    thanks again!

  • Another question: my bassist is asking if all of this also applies to bass amps. Logically i think it should but wed just like to make sure..

  • @rispsira - yes, any amp.

  • Hum, why asking why your guitar is plugged in the headphone output is considered as a spam !!! ?

It starts well if you have something to hide ! :(

  • @11Vuvuzelas yes i was wondering when i was watching the vid why they sticked stuff on the unit but then im thinking maybe they got the labels wrong: remember its not produced yet so i guess this should be a prototype? or if they decided to change things last minute.

Anyway interested in hearing what happened?

  • @11Vuvuzelas Hiya, we just have changed the input and the phones jack over, sort of last minute, that's all :-)

    you guys are really alert!!!

  • hi! one question i have: in this video the mic goes to the aphex interface which of course is needed to record audio to the video. Otherwise can we hook the mic straight up to the profiling amp or do you still need an external mic preamp to do the profiling?

    Thanks!

  • @rispsira you'll be able to just connect a mic directly to the XLR input, yes.

  • Hi,

why your guitar is not plugged in the input at the left of the profiler ? It's in the headphone out in the video ?!

  • Comment removed

  • wow das teil kam aber aus dem nichts! sehr interessantes konzept, sehr interessante möglichkeiten. bin auch gespannt wie andere amps damit nachgebildet werden.

  • Will it be possible to layer sounds? I usually mic my Mesa Dual Rectifier with two mics: 1x SM57 and 1x e906. When I want to profile this sound, I would need the opportunity to layer the signals of those two mics. Can the Profiler do this?

  • @cort1983 hiya, you'd just profile the sum of the two mics

  • @tomwendt

Perfect! And the next question: Is there going to be a possibility to use the Profiling Amplifier with a floorboard for live-usage?

  • @cort1983 yes, right now they are looking at possible solutions

  • you NEED to do a metal setup next ! and get a METAL guy to it. if it sounds like real metal amps, i will have one :D brilliant idea, hope its for real and like so many other say, not another line6 digital sounding transistor box ;)

  • pricing: we don't know yet, but it will be definitely reasonable

  • Can you tell us how much will cost this machine ? thanks

Genial.

  • Test this out on a DIEZEL..ENGL..MESA..maybe then i will believe its the real deal and not another line6 type over hyped/promise you this amp processor!!

    Here's hoping!! :)

  • @boardboy1914 i can tell you, we will, we have not shown everything yet. ;-)

  • @tomwendt Obvious comparisons are going to be made with the Ax-fx, love it or hate it, it has set the bench mark for anything other than a genuine tube amp, so it will be interesting to see where you go with this, i love my Ax, but if this is a genuine alternative, i think it can only be a good thing for the guitar community as a whole.

  • @boardboy1914 a fat Marshall tone is way more interesting than this generic bad sounding metal shit. And yes: I am playing metal for myself. I cannot understand why people like Diezel. I just dislike the rectifier sound. I like the marshall-inspired ENGL-Tones. But Diezel is just without an identity...

  • @TheVikingBattleDwarf Guess thats a good thing..if we all liked the same things, life would be pretty sterile!! :)

  • @TheVikingBattleDwarf i must agree, though my favorite amp is the Framus Cobra, Rectifier style front with marshall out.

  • @boardboy1914 I can tell even from youtube's overly compressed audio format that this amp sounds better than a Line 6. However that isn't really a tall order.

  • @boardboy1914 - they profiled a Mesa Boogie at NAMM. Sounds better than this Fender example.

  • Amazing!
