  • thank you, very instructive. I'm going to try it for sure but have no dehydrator. Can I use an oven?

  • I living in brazil, i tried about 3 times make pemmican but is not like yours or i saw in images around internet...and the taste..uff! I sent email to U.S. Wellness Meats but them dont send to brazil. You know about other companies selling pemmicans? (not pemmicans-com, his products have a lot of conservants and sodium)

thanks and sorry for my english

  • the recopies I have seen include things like oatmeal bacon and bacon fat powdered milk powdered beef liver as well as some seasonings

  • yo pemmican was made from the metis people of Canada the metis is the Englan and first nation people of canada and im only 10

  • Thank you I am white mixed with a small amount of native people.I feel the call of spirit that is why i am trying to learn. The creator made us all beautiful.Bless us all and bless father spirit and bless mother earth.

  • you frighten me :( i was watching this with my dog and at first he was really happy because there was meat on the screen, but then he died. thanks, your smile killed my 9 month old puppy.

  • You eat at only meat? I'll get my nutrition advice elsewhere hahaha

  • @JRNY1605 haha

  • Do you actually live on just meat? How is that possible? How do you get any vitamins or fiber?

  • @guiltybystander77 It's perfectly possible to live quite well and healthily off of meat provided you eat vitamin rich organ meats as well. Living off of muscle meat isn't such a good idea... i'm quite happy with the ocasional vegetable for my vitamins...i dont like organ meats

  • @guiltybystander77 fiber isn't digested, and therefore isn't an essential part of a diet (in fact, the only animals that eat fibrous matter CAN digest it, but don't tell that to the media), and organs provide generally greater quantities of vitamins than vegetables (especially beef liver, which is esentially the most nutritious food on earth for humans)..

  • NOW if you Still hungry drink water. Pammican expands in your stomach =)

  • Excellent video. Well put together, clear and concise. I've got to give this a try but first I will need a dehydrator.

  • @CdnLifeguard71 Try using the sun.

  • Lady I hope you never stop making videos. This will really help the world in survival situations! Thank you so much!! :D

  • Ah THX ... I love teh internets for providing instant advise!

  • I've always wondered about this stuff, and I'd like to give it a go but I don't have a machine to dry out the meat, so how would I go about it?

Anyone with some tips would be most appreciated; being an aussie we don't have this out here but I have heard and read about it, as well as Ray Mears saying it was one of the food sources the indians had....so I want to have a crack at making it.

Great video, very informative and straight forward. Cheers.

  • @anzac2404 You can use your oven set at the very lowest setting (with a propane oven, use the pilot light). You could also do it the traditional way by making a smoking rack and drying the meat until so dry it breaks when bent.

  • @OzaawaaMigiziNini, A-ha...thanks for the tips, I'll have to have a crack at it one day soon; when it stops raining?!

Thanks again & have a good one, cheers.

  • Excellent video, really useful.

I can't wait to make some.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I love this so much, Thank you. I got so lean on pemmican.

  • wheres the berries?

  • "For emergencies such as blizzards, hurricanes, power outages or... trips to the mall." Hilarious.

  • This is the best video for this subject on Youtube. People need to know that this is very serious business because even a tiny taste of spoiled food, even before your nose detects it, can kill you from botulism. Therefore, follow this ladies instructions exactly. Even then, you are taking some chances, so refrigerate/freeze it until the day of use unless there is a nuclear disaster and you just can't.

  • Very Cool! I've been buying it, but I think I'll try making some.

    Great Job!

  • this is awesome

  • Nice job! Can't wait for part 2......

  • Nicely done.

Sometimes I have the butcher slice the meat for me. At home I take the slices and use scissors to cut off the fat.

That's a good thickness you used. For the first batch or two I used very thin slices but thicker slices work great and you can load lots more meat into the dehydrator.
