I have an 85 that cuts just about anything. You'll find using full synthetic 2 stroke oil and premium gas makes it run even better. A Stihl tech recommended this to me years ago and he was right.
@steel520 I was told the same thing when I was buying my FS 85, just to use original Stihl 2-cycle oil, you just need to get the mixture right, and I never use mixture that is older then about 2 months, if it is I mix it bit by bit with new fresh mixture.
i have a fs90 with the 4 mix engine. sounds different than your machine. still an awesome trimmer, very powerful and while it isnt cheap it worth the money. what do you think of the fs90 with 4 mix engine?
@ad356 I never used a 4-mix engine, love to try it out, but by the looks of it seems like a very good machine, some say old engines are better, some say 4-mix are better, you can`t know if you don`t try it out yourself. But for shure 4-mix has a much beeter sound at high rpms, quieter.
@addii578 25,4 cc engine, 0,95 Kw, 1.3 HP , yes it does have a steel shaft, the FS 80 has the same engine but does not have a steel shaft like the FS 85.
we have the FS75 in bent shaft trimmer form and also long arm hedge cutter, i love the little ting it makes when you just rev and let go. just like yours does. great engine though.
They don`t recommed anything above 2.7 mm for the FS 85. I use 2.4 and it cuts very nice, not the 5 cm grass, it can cut 30-40cm without problem. Before trimming put the line you are going to use in water for about 2-3 hours, it will not split at the ends, and it will be better to use.
I have one of those, they are very nice I have about 1/4 acre of brush it cuts through it like it's nothing, for normal weed trimming I have a Shindawia Home Pro 22T
