Mosh pits originated from the punk scene...It was brought into metal when Anthrax performed at the CBGB because Scott and Charlie were friends with the punk bands that played there and in return for supporting the punk bands,the bands brought their crowd to an Anthrax show and the Metalheads were impressed because they never seen this before...In 1983.
