  • why would you want so much space for hardrives?

  • This video went viral on Algeria

  • The insulation is called Bitumen? And made of tar?

  • This video went viral on Kabul

  • just mount that fan controller inset 1/2 inch dude. Nice review Just bought it! :)

  • I recently bought an "Arc mini" from Fractal Design, and it's a very good case. Maybe a little expensive for what you get, but definitively a good case.

  • i saw this case but ur vid made look better iv seen a old school case that had the motherboard inclosed in it own case with a 120mm fan it was a server case 1 thing i regret is that i tok it to get recycled it was big i dont know if the I/O is removeable so i can put a big mobo like the GA-990 mobo that server case was a 486 i think idk what brand and was asking any have seen a case i identify it i want that heavy beast so i can mod it

  • PS. there is no noise from the harddrive bays with drives running 10.000rpm

  • it smells lige some candy i ate once (= not bad and recomend the case

    Cheers.

  • say it like its spelt here bitch-a-men

  • I buy a HAF X tower but i have to mutch space and when i whant to travell is impossible to take my HAF X did you think is a good idea to change my case =?

    thx to anser

  • Disregard my first comment. The upper drive cage is removable/rotatable. Please do a review on that one.

  • Can you do a review or if you have an information about the Arc Midi Tower from fractal? I need to know if the case hard drive cage is removable? Thank you.

  • too which i wanted for cooling and quietness, i have question.....did anyone happen to find a bit of axil grease on the top HDD rack mount in the slide? i did, i got this 6 months ago and i noticed it then a bit over the case cables.....then noticed where it was coming from on the top rack mount when putting in new specs just recently. n i did wat they said you cant i bought a 5.25inch drive bay fan controller sycthe. n im at a loss on how to makie it fit

  • @puckutubeass101 have you considered drilling the front panel to allow the knobs for fan speed to bass through, there are some great 3in bay controlers, complete with light up bezel on the dials, would look very nice comong out of the front of the door

  • Thanks great review.

  • Bloody good review, boys, just what was needed!

    Thanks!

  • request that Newegg carries this case (and the new R3)

    secure.newegg.com/FeedBack/ShallWeCarry.aspx

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS REVIEW!!!

this is exactly what i needed, an in dept review to see if i should spend the money!

your reviews are best because they are so detailed, and i don't mind watching a 20min review, we are computer people, we have a bit longer then average attention spans. :)

  • Didnt you ever see that there are multiple holes to screw in the fan controller, you just push it in a bit an attach it...

  • BIT-YOU-MEN : )

  • the only i dont like with the case is that the two topp vents look kind of boring and that thay havent done any kind of mod on the topp:/

  • @nigahiga :D!

  • I personally think this case looks amazing, especially considering the $99.99 (CAD) pricing.. It has everything you look for in a good case imo..

  • the front grills look like they would block alot of air

  • @utubeb14 thats wut the vents on the sides are for

  • is the r3 steel anythicker?

  • I have one...

    :D

  • LOL @ the IDE drive!

  • these features look alot like my coolermaster elite 430

  • one note instead of putting a fan controller backwards in the drive bay, just slide it in an extra bit and the knobs of the fan controller will clear the door :)

    Great review

  • omg tnx alot dude

this is the best review ive ever seen on my enitre life(no jokes)

every single detail is covered and exceeded my expectaions

    keep it up guys

    PROUDLY SUBSCRIBING

if i can rate this review i would give it 11/10

  • @raclimja16 Why are you writing the same thing when commenting a review? I´ve seen this EXACT comment several times.

  • This is great I like this case. How well does the sound dampening material work vs a similar case that does not have any? I think this would be great for a work station build i might be starting =)

  • could you show the PC-V2120 or PC-V1020 when lian li come out with them, they seem like a great case for a mod

  • best case for home servers

  • Swedes know how to do things!

  • This case would be perfect if it has more 5.25" bays and doesn't have problem with fan controllers knob, Excellent review btw.

  • The end of the video shows the running pc and it seems pretty loud !

  • @ElTcheko Thats because the side panels weren't on.

  • @ElTcheko Ye it's really silent when everything is on. Like... REALLY silent.

  • 2nd best case below corsairs 800 d,this thing looks awsome for me,i dont like the front cover,i like a window and fan combo, but awsome case

  • Very thorough review. Thank you. Getting the r3 version today.

  • Hey.I live in Estonia and Bitumen is used in maikning roof-s in here and north countries. It is variable but is used in making roofs. It is waterproof.

  • Slick! ;)

  • lol to that fancontroller.., it's looks like shit, nzxt is full touch 5 channel 10watt for each channel with temprature read out

  • you can actually mount a fan controll in the front you just haft to move it in a litle.

im useing a zalman ZM-MFC1. and i can have it at the front and still close the lid

  • dear lord, stop saying 'slick'

  • THX!

Very nice review from this beautiful case.

    greetings from germany

  • Bitumen is pronounced BITCH-a-men. It's the stuff they put on roads: tar, asphalt, etc. It's a term we use outside the US.

  • @lumabi25 A bit more like bitch-you-men but yeah probably changes depending on accent and area here in UK.

  • @MonsterMawd

Does the side panel for the case go on with the Cooler Master V8 installed?

  • Comment removed

  • cant seem to find this case anywhere. ncixus is not selling it anymore.

  • Yeh gun metal is a greyish color But Antec advertises the version i have as black gun metal. The case itself look black but with a closer look in the light it does have a greyish color to it. Keep up the mods:)

  • Thanks for the video!

I want this Case, but my Mobo supports only FireWire headers, and not eSATA headers.

Is it possible to use an adapter for an "eSata to internal Sata headers", inother to use this case 100%?

    Thanks!

  • @UserNamei5, it's true.... Europe has really embraced Fractal. They have an eye for small details without robbing your wallet. I'm getting their new ITX NAS case to review, I'm very excited about just opening the box when it arrives. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @UserNamei5, bit-tech recently revealed their full tower version of the R2, you'll have to check it out! Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @computersuk1, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • I just ordered one from NCIX in Vancouver. I live in Ontario and they had free shipping if you bought a $10 gift card. I got the one with the black front. Can't wait.

  • @gordon777777, thats awesome, Thanks for watching our channel!

  • Anyone know if it's easy enough to cut through that tar stuff for a window on the side panel? Or will it be a problem

  • @NeverLostYou, Jigsaw with 18TPI blade will wor, thanks for watching!

  • gah gay lip :( at least it has that hole next to the psu to run all the cables behind the tray.

also anyone know if the top vents support a dual 140mm rad?

  • @ubxp Judging from thee lookks of it I'd say water cooling is external only, maybe you could cut the top open and have the fan or the radiator on the outside, but that is a maybe.

  • @vearheart42 If the holes line up then you can mount the fans out side and have a 25mm rad mounted on the inside

  • @ubxp It would be tight though and you'd have marginal cooling with such a small radiator. Not to mention it would kill the nicest part of this case which is it's minimalist design.

For a Mid tower watercooling case I would get a cm 690 II basic(cheaper without uneeded crap.)

  • @vearheart42 With a 140mmx280mmx25mm thick rad you would get a huge improvement in cooling, in fact im sure that it could fit a 34mm thick rad it in i just said 25mm cos that's how thick the fans are.

And on the note of the style with the addition of some fan grills from MNPC tech you could keep the over all look to some extent not quite as nice but not completely destroyed.

  • @ubxp, performance-pcsDOTcom carries our 140mm rad grills exclusively

  • @vearheart42, agreed... 690 II can be had for $79 in the states...840 is a good canidate for watercooling as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @vearheart42, it's a lot of work to modify the R2 for watercooling. I would look at the Cooler Master 840 as another option. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @ubxp, they won't, sorry.... Thank you for watching our video and commenting

  • Im working on a casemod with this case :D

I really look forward to get it and do a lot of bad stuff with it. Its a really good looking case. Thanks for the awsome review!

  • @BastiaanSpeksnijder, Thanks for watching and commenting! We're reviewing and dissecting NZXT's new Phantom case, review will be up soon. it has some very nice features, if you know anyone in the market for a new case.

  • Im swedish and i am happy that we make these kind of good case :D!

  • @RevaqOfTheLight Im english and i am happy that the swedish make these kind of good case :D

  • @RevaqOfTheLight, agreed! and Fractal is sending us their new ITX case to review soon! Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • really nice review! well done

  • @jaode, Thanks for watching and commenting! We're reviewing and dissecting NZXT's new Phantom case, review will be up soon.

  • one of the best reviews ever.....very detailed .....well done guys.

  • @ovlovguy, Thank you! We're reviewing and dissecting NZXT's new Phantom case, review will be up soon. it has some very nice features, if you know anyone in the market for a new case.

  • Micro ATX motherboard in that beast??:P lol

  • @babybantick, Midtower, so not really a Beast.. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

  • IT"S AT NCIX BUY NOW

  • That thang is very awesome for the price.

  • looks like my lian li b25-b cept its 1/3 the priec :(

  • @x69Crunchyx and it has plastic !

  • It might be a p180 rip off.. But it's cheaper here in europe AND is black inside and generally got more awsome features.

  • @daralinn nah man, p180 doesn't have a copryright on its design...it's a logical design, which Fractal Design executed very well and topped Antec for sure. That's what it's about, making something as 'perfect' as possible.

  • @daralinn, I'll take the Fractal over Antec anyday! Thanks for watching and commenting! We're reviewing and dissecting NZXT's new Phantom case, review will be up soon. it has some very nice features, if you know anyone in the market for a new case.

  • Where's the USB-ports etc..?

  • @rwaxzy, top panel, Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • bitumen .. pronounced "bitch u men"

  • @thebigredned i think he said that as a joke so it sounds more "classy" and doesnt sound like you have a road going through ur pc case

  • @ipullstuffapart, we never heard or seen this bitumen before, we looked up the proper pronunciation on Wiki before doing the review...we're just a couple rednecks who love PC hardware..lol. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @thebigredned, what do you expect from a couple of Redneck Geeks from MinnesoTAH? Thanks for watching and commenting :)

  • Any idea if the Noctua nh14d will fit in it?

  • Nice and thorough review. :)

  • i got it for kr 790 or $ 100 while 20% was tax

  • Is the front door removable without removing the front fans?

  • @1337ROFLMAO1337 It is.

  • 18:30 onwards looks like something is dripping even though it isn't? what is that the light from the controllers?

  • Good job on the review MN- PC-TECH. Very in-depth and I really like this case also.

  • do a case mod on this with a window :)

    great review

  • @WaaHaaaa, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • @oldmanwhithers, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon.

  • @MonsterMawd Not a problem. In fact I've been trying to track down all your side projects and I'm happy to see that you guys are getting more and more recognition because you guys really deserve it.

Keep up the great work and take care

  • Its basically a p180 and p183 knock off. and seems too flimsy.

  • @ryan91rs, did you hear how much the side panel weighs? It's Steel. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • I like the clean look

  • @langhalsen, agreed, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • I've installed a fancontroller without any probs, just had to push it in slightly more (mounted at the 3rd screw spot instead of the 1st)

  • @speltips, depends upon brand and model. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • thanks for this review, iv seen in here in australia but hat never heard of them, i may get this lian li style for my empty pocket

  • @utubeb14, exactly, I hope theyre avail in Oz soon. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • Thats NOT how you pronounce bitumen.

  • @s0Ez3, like I said, we're Rednecks who never heard or seen the stuff in the states before..Thanks for watching our videos and commenting

  • Great video, excellent analysis. This retails for £79.99 in the UK for comparison.

  • @AndyTechTips, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • Seems like a good first case for this company, however I don't think it holds compared to other cases out there.

Would make a good home server case with all the HDD space, but other than that I don't see anything that sets it apart fron any other case.

  • @Prosthetics511, the style and noise dampening... a lot of people love this case... Fractal has more demand than they can meet. Thats a good problem to have today. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • That's a very nice budget case. If you're on a budget, this seems ideal. If you don't have a budget, obviously the Corsair Obsidian 800D is the way to go, especially if you want hassle-free all internal water cooling.

  • @mhaneline, 800D is a monster...both are very different cases for different individual needs... Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • great, very in-depth review!

  • @genie92, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • The features I am looking for are airflow, hard drive space & not too pricey, around $100. for now - I can wait I guess :-)

  • @Novilia17, check out the Cooler Master 690 II, it's the best bang for the buck case on the market for $79. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • I hope they put this pc tower out in the U.S.. Love the cable management integration. I will be getting this as soon as it doe's come out. Also like the on/off button, USB, and Firewire on top of the case.

Bill i had a question for you could you do a review of the NZXT Hush PC Case? I like the layout and the design of that case, but just wanted a second opinion about it...

  • @TeXhTactX, I don't do many product reviews tbh...unless it's something that really catches my interest like this case did. As a lot of people are aware, NZXT has typically sent me pre-retail samples of their new cases, but not the Hush. They did send me their new Phantom case to review, which you may wish to see before deciding upon the Hush. The plastic molds actually impressed the hell out of me. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • you can get some harddrives up to 1.5tb why would you need 8 bays if you had 8 1.5tb harddrives thats 12tb ... I would rather have 2 more 5.25 drive bays for modding reasons instead.

  • @rtb3796 think about 8 SSD drives in RAID 0/1/0+1 arrays. That's what the many bays are for.

  • @MaxJigga, I wish I could afford that many SSDs, it would be nice! Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @rtb3796, good question. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • i dont like tooless designs its not as sturdy as a overtigened screw:)

  • @carlanton593

    losing screws sucks

  • @evanhuntjohnson, been there, done that countless times...esp when your workshop floor is Black..ugh..Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! N

  • @carlanton593, agreed, most tool-less designs are made from cheap plastic! Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • It's almost like a Lian Li Dragon and Antec P180 had a baby called Fractal. Biggest flaws is the restricted front airflow thru the drive cage, no front 140mm mounts, will not fit a 5970, & stinky sound stuff. Myself, I would have ditched the door, adopted a modular drive cage like the Sniper, and added a window.

Sorry guys but for that money the Antec 300, 800D, and Sniper are better for the price. Good review 'tho.

  • @pjladyfox How in any way is an 800D even in the same price bracket as this...?

Also, if they added a window, it'd ruin the case's awesome minimalistic design. :)

    Awesome review, Bill!

  • @OCNmeticadpa, 800D is in a different User realm altogether. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • @pjladyfox, Fractal is a young company and actually listening to the community for future designs. They have an enthusiast following I haven't seen since Lian Li's early days. I predict they will do very well in the long run.

  • not sure about the intro, but a very good review. very in depth, thanks a lot :)

  • @EdGeyy, impossible to appeal to everyone, but content is king at the end of the day. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • wow awesome review guys!

  • @kenhermanz, Thanks for watching our videos and commenting! NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • Is 8 hard drive bays really necessary?

2 VR hard drives and 2 1TB (or 2TB) would be plenty. I would rather have 2 more 5.25 drive bays for modding reasons instead of 8 hard drive bays which will never be used. The only use i could see out of that is for a server or for a tall water cooling reservoir other then that its useless in my book.

  • @MooreProductionsMP3 i agree, i would of liked 2 more 5.25 drive bays, but like you said my thoughts exactally on a good case for a server

  • @MooreProductionsMP3, there is much better suited cases for watercooling. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • It's a wanabee 800D?

  • it resembles the 800D in no form

  • @ghosthud1, agree, very different realms...Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @archolon, no, their new Define XL case is tho :)...Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • man i want that case so bad

  • I got that case... And I LOVE IT!!

It does get a bit warm.. but it's silent, so I stille love it!!!

  • Cool but im sure u could always add more fans to keep it cool

  • @arranmc182, agreed...modding is welcomed by this channel. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @NordicJib, thats been the overall response from people. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • Thanks for this very in-depth review. it has helpd me a lot.

However I must admit some db noise level tests would of been nice as I still can't decide if it will be quiet enough for my needs in music production.

  • @xecutey, we don't have the appropriate facility for a proper noise test, SilentPCreview's owner Mike Chin is the only Reviewer in the entire hardware community I know that does. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • @MonsterMawd - No problem. I've since purchased this case and I must say it is a lovely case and is very quiet (inside is an i7 930 2.8 overclocked to 4.1Ghz on air). The only thing I can hear is my Corsair TX750W PSU fan (can't hear anything inside or the cases fans). I wonder if I could safely Modify my PSU fan (I worry about if changing it for a silent one that not enough air would be pushed).

  • i think the p193 would make a good case to mod. do the side panel and change the top vent and ull be good :D

  • @worthyofgod1, every case is a good case to mod :) Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • Dayaaam!!

All my cases still have top-mounting PSUs!!!

  • @SeikoPsycho, lol.. it's gotton to be rare to see those on the market these days. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • Looks pretty nice!

  • @sodajr, agreed! Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • i like it. wouldnt buy it but i like it

  • @brandonsexywhitaker, I'm sure Fractal is smiling right now. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • Nice, looks pretty good. It would be nice to have it in the states. 5* thanks for the vid guys!

Oh btw the Sentry series fan controllers by NZXT would fit in there since they have the touch panel, but the Sentry 2 only delivers 10W per channel, don't know about the other models.

  • @Zayras7, good tip, Thank you! fyi: NZXT sent us the first sample of their new Phantom case to review, it should be posted soon. I was impressed with how many features they loaded in it. I hope everyone finds the video of the Phantom very revealing, in a good way!

  • TOTAL RIPOFF, i see pieces from the Corsair 800D, Antec P180, Coolermaster 690 in there. It must be cheap, otherwise i cant see why people would buy this :S :S

  • @tdsviper, everyone copies everyone else in this industry. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting

  • gunmetal black p182 ripoff much? o.O

  • @kamp69, gun metal is actually more like Grey...but comparing other features to the p182, like the bezel vents is spot on! Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!

  • Damn, this thing must be quiet as hell
