  • There is only one more sub-species I.p. malayensis, supposingly found in South Thailand all the way down through the Peninsula. I think that what I have been seeing is this sub-species. But the blue on the birds I saw are identical to those shown on the illustration. I pray that you would get a chance quick and show me the colours as you have described.

  • The subspecies you have may be different from what we have here - rather than just blue, what we have here seems to a bluish-purple - I've not been able to capture video so far, though.

  • This is a tricky bird - too much in the shade and it appears blackish - in light it reflects too much - what you have here is very nice. Thanks for posting
