I agree with you that americans got some good things done, and so have other countries, but saying that what a few men accomplished makes all americans intelligent is pathetic, mainly after you see things like racism, homophobia, radical right wing religious groups, fox news, sarah palin, etc. I mean, sure, you have some great personalities, but in average, damn, you guys are ignorant as hell.

@LtShock We are not ignorant, our country is sheltered, seperated from the rest of the world, with the exception of our two neighbors and allies, by vast oceans. We don't have to learn other languages inside our country because 96% of the population speaks the same language, its the language of business around the world as well. Because of our isolation, wealth and priviledge much of our citizenry can get by just fine without coming the news.

just to comment on one of your posts: People in Australia for example (which, as you know, is also an "isolated" and English speaking continent) seem to be way more curious about the world outside, as far as I can tell from my connections/visits. Also: You are not only connected to 2 continents called Central and South America. You also have a huge variety of ethnic minorities in the USA! Perhaps just around the corner where you live! Talk to those folks and learn about the world.

We only border Two other countries, period end of story. Both are our allies, both have large english speaking population and INSIDE America 96% speak English regardless of national origin or ethnicity, also we have a common culture inside US, other countries lack this.

@paraprog85 one of my best friends is filipino para. Australia is close to numerous asian countries who do not speak english. America BORDERS only two countries, english speaking Canada and Mexico, which is why Spanish is the second most common language here. Central America is NOT a continent. Americans can travel across the Pacific to it' territory of Guam without ever needing a passport. These people were chosen for their silly answers, we can find them in any country.

It starts with the fact I live in Germany; Average Americans (mostly students & middleclass-wealthy people) wanted to know things like: Do you have cars/refrigerators in Germany? The Tube was invented by a 16yo American boy, the first tv's were tubes. The internet, the pc all American. Carborator, Teflon etc..
