  • If the north hadn't "conquered" the south, someone else would have, probably Mexico with the help of a world power.

  • Lincoln on Slavery: "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery." --- March 14, 1861

"What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races." --- 7-17-1858, fr. a speech delivered in Springfield, Ill.

"I am not in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, or of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people." --- September 15, 1858

  • this is great work thank you

  • Lincoln opposed slavery in the territories only, because he needed slavery to fuel the southern economy to exact tribute, but he needed the Abolitionist votes, and needed the new states like California to provide additional ones.

LIkewise, he couldn't allow the states escape these taxes by seceding.

Lincoln was the most deranged lunatic in world history.

  • Collectivist Lincoln's "Emancipation" Proclamation didn't free the slaves held in the capital city of Washington nor in the commonwealth of Maryland, as they were not in 'rebellion.' The South's federation wasn't in rebellion as it had no plans to topple the (formerly federated) govt. in Washington, nor in occupying the North. The states below the Mason-Dixon Line seceded by vote as the membership in the Union (the U.S.-proper) is voluntary.

  • Norman Dodds uncovered that revisionist historians' motives are more sinister than Thomas DiLoernzo explains. Several foundations, e.g., Rockefeller Foundation, actively sought to influence & support careers of scholars & historians who would teach warped & edited history. The result would be "educated" generations who would be ignorant & amnesic of the lessons of history. Exhalting tyrants & ommiting the power of civic duty. Our ignorance & misinformation is why gov't gets away with so much.

  • brilliant analysis..

  • The North's supply of men & munitions was seemingly without end. Remember throughout Lincoln's War the expansion of the transcontinental railroad continued. The blockade broke Dixie's back. If the Confederacy had been patient and taken the time to build a viable navy, an armistice would have been the probable end of hostilities.

  • I have always respected people who are able to base their arguments og opinions on facts and less on private goals, I have no doubts that Thomas Dilorenzo is a true Liberal, but i admire him for his ability to lay down quality facts and then make a simple and clear conclusion

  • THis guys logic is skewed. He considers only politics and economics. The societal and moral implications of slavery are factual all else is coincindental. A liberal ? He is Libertarian.

  • Hey huckstered!

the only thing skewed here is your ability to impart criticism before listening to his entire speech.

at 43:30 he begins to pull back the curtain on Lincoln's real intentions regarding slavery.

I strongly encourage you to hear what this man has to say.

  • I have listened to the "entire speech".

As you put it. In fact I have listened to more than a few of his lectures on You Tube, the guy is imbalanced.

  • > the guy is imbalanced

There is plenty of crap on the pro-lincoln side. I've heard a lot of it. DiLorenzo adds a critique of that and pokes holes in it--which is exactly what history needs, especially of its greatest idols that preside over these unfathomably deadly wars.

  • Lincoln was a great man, regardless.

Unfathomably? I see it. 55,000 casualties

at Gettysburg , 58,000 deaths in Nam. Horrible beyond description, yes. Let us not think these men died in vain.

A new birth of freedom of Govt.- of ,for ,

    and by the people.

  • >Let us not think these men died in vain.

What did the soldiers on the north die for? The southern government was far more in keeping with the philosophy of the founding fathers. Lincoln was a tyrannical madman.

The bad guys won "the civil war," and our current country is the descendent of his authoritarianism. The sooner as we recognize that, the sooner we can get back to states rights and the rest of the Bill of Rights.

  • The southern states came back into the union at the point of a gun. There are

no states rights. Thus ended segration,

poll tax etc. The United States "is"

not "are". Each state is not a country. No more than a county is. There is no sovereignty for states. The southern boys died in a lost cause

in the civil war. Unfortunate as it sounds.

The ten amendments or the Bill of rights

only assures freedom of religion, no soldiers in homes, jury trials etc.

  • >The ten amendments or the Bill of rights only assures freedom of religion, no soldiers in homes, jury trials etc.

Actually, by eliminating any one amendment, you will eventually eliminate them all. History has shown this as the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and others have been compromised.

    1: hate crimes

    2: weapons bans

    4: warantless wiretap

    5: "obstruction of justice"

  • @latewire Hate crmes is a load of bull, it works against the first amendment.

  • Gov. Rick Perry spoke recently of

seceding, he was made to look foolish on Natl t.v.

  • If you take Rick Perry (RepubliCON) seriously on secession you're foolish.

  • I am from texas and I don't take him or any other Republican seriously. Of course.

  • Good, he's just playing people like a fiddle.

  • @huckstered lol of course cause you would rather be politicaly correct rather than HISTORICALY CORRECT LOL

  • @Southernjuggalo63 To the contrary , I read the cards as they are , not

any conspriacy theory, of which there are thousands. People make a lot of money

giving alternate versions of history all of the time and make money at it by writing fiction. Reading history not as it is but to sell pulp fiction. Ala the Jewish consp, JFk assas., 9-11 inside job, Jesuit consp. U.F.O.s'

bigfoot , it does not matter which sort of hobbyist you are there is an alternate story for you to embrace.

  • @huckstered lol but you are not aknowledging the emacipation proclomation that only freed slaves only in the south as worded on government document so your sayin licoln who owned slaves himself and wrote many books on his views of race and such THE COLLECTED WORKS OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN where he states no blacks are equal to whites cmon dude i bet you think their is a conspiracy in the iraq war and wont even open your eyes to historical facts of the civil war lol

  • @Southernjuggalo63 I cannot make any sense of your phrasing. Would you please re-write a more intelligible response for... whatever you are attempting to write? It would be greatly appreciated. You begin and end with lol? Yours is a puerile attempt to deliberate on anything. Reorganize your thoughts and slow down a little so that a point can be drawn

from any inference you are attempting to make here. You seem an intellectual lightweight thus far.

  • @huckstered wow you have stooped to insulting me thats bad if you look at the name of the war should be the first red flag seeing how the south did not want to control the northern states but rather govern themselves im sure you ignored that fact

  • @Southernjuggalo63 You write what is common knowledge and attempt to be profound upon the obvious. How old are you ?

  • @huckstered old enough to know my government will lie, cheat and do whatever it has to do to furhter its own agenda

  • @huckstered Made by whom exactly? The corporate shills that inhabit our comically manipulated media?

  • @pretorious700 You are right, the people have a dfferent agenda for the country

than the government. Yes, the media I don't pay any mind to any more. The people

have to initiate change. Made? What the amendments , is that what you ask?

  • @latewire The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It was written for human rights not states. This is the United States these are not the United States. You must not understand the ramifications of this philosophy.

  • @latewire "The southern government was far more in keeping with the philosophy of the founding fathers."

The southern government was a slavocracy and it was even more centralized than the north. The Declaration of Independence says "All men are created equal". This is basic stuff.

    "Lincoln was a tyrannical madman."

So was Davis. He did most of the same "tyrannical" things that Lincoln did, plus Davis was a slave holder....

"The bad guys won "the civil war,"

    No, the slaveholders lost. Sorry....

  • That was a bit of the Gettysburg Address, called by some the "Greatest

speech ever written." Ever read the immediate reviews? They were entirely wrong, the papers called it a -washed out

    speech.

  • the old definition of liberal is what we now call "libertarian"

If you'd actually watched the speech, by the way, you'd know that slavery was legal in the north even under the Emancipation Proclamation--well after the war had begun.

The "civil war" was not about slavery, it was about the political aspirations of a deranged man.

  • I did watch the speech and I know

what you are saying is true. But it became

bigger than a war between the states.

It became a symbol for the ideals the country was founded upon. Life and liberty , and the pursuit of happiness. Lincoln was canonized I know.

But -yet- his story is a remarkable one.

One of the great stories of history.

  • Lincoln waged total war against the South: poisoning wells, burning crops, destroying grain silos, tearing up rails, desecrating churches, shrines & cemeteries. This is Lincoln. Admire him, extol & worship our answer to Herr Hitler.

  • @procommenter No !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @procommenter No !!!!!!! If it were true, in fact , Hitler would be the answer to Lincoln as lincoln came first. We liberated Europe after we liberated balcks.

  • @huckstered THE ONLY PRESIDENT THAT HAS DONE EXACTLY AS LINCOLN WOULD BE BUSH HOW THEY BOTH STARTED A WAR WITHOUT CONGRESS CONSENT WHICH IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL LOL FACT

  • @Southernjuggalo63 Don't leave out LBJ and Viet Nam.

  • @huckstered yes your right on that one i almost forgot him thanks for the reminder i mean its ridiculous some of the things we as americans have allowed to happen and be blinded by the propoganda

  • @Southernjuggalo63 Don't really know that much do you ?

  • @huckstered wtf are you talking about dude is your whole purpose on here is to insult people dude get a life

  • @Southernjuggalo63 Only the uninformed ones. You missed an entire war

    and administration. LMAO.

  • @huckstered well just stop commenting to me since your whole purpose is just to insult me go get a life and try to have civil conversations with people without your im better than you attitude

  • @Southernjuggalo63 You commented to me, I only responded. I only point out truths to your misfortune.

  • @procommenter with Sherman doing his bidding.

  • (2) contemporaneous memoirs, correspondence and diaries : Annotated by her husband Charles Minor Blackford : Edited and abridged for publication by Charles Minor Blackford III : Charles Scribner's Sons, New York 1947

  • (1) There's a wonderful book that all historians should read if only because it lacks in the necessary revisionism with which to make Abe Lincoln into Jesus, Jr. Its title page reads: "Letters from Lee's Army or Memoirs of Life, In and Out of The Army of Virginia During the War Between the States," compiled by Susan Leigh Blackford from original and

  • @procommenter Poisoning wells? desecrating churches, shrines and cemeteries? None of that is true. You're our answer to Herr Goebbels.

  • Excellent! I just love listening to this guy.

  • Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor is on land owned by the sovereign state of South Carolina. In 1861 the people within the states believed in federalism as provided by the Constitution.

  • This is an excellent beginning of a BRILLIANT series. Thank you.

  • Thanks for posting these lectures by Dr. DiLorenzo! I've compiled a list of Mises Institute videos on Google and YouTube, which you can see looking at the info for my channel.
