Donald Fagen and Walter Becker didn't hire this guy without good reason to play their music. He is one of the greatest living guitarist on the planet, period.
I used to go see him at the Baked Potato on Ventura Blvd in the Valley... He has always soared!!! Never changed.. a beautiful player , a beautiful spirit!!
I don't give a crap what anybody says. This guy is THE BEST!!!! I saw him at The Bottom Line back in the day when he first started his solo career and he has remained awesome throughout the years

Hollis is rippin'!! During my playing days, I used to study him quite a bit - quite the inspiration. Man, anyway to get the rest of his solo improv on Youtube? He was just getting started!!
Brilliant - but as great as Larry's guitar playing is, you have to take your hat off to the man for putting down such an amazing solo in HIS own band and then stepping back and allowing that phenomenal sax player to chorus away and really make his mark - a musician's musician and a true gentleman to boot!!! Larry knows how good he is - how could he not? - but no ego issues!!!! Outstanding!!
Larry is awesome, so tasteful! As far as guitarists that can play with such incredible technique try Brent Mason. He can play it all with the best of them, jazz, country, blues, rock...
Yeah! This Cat gets the most AMAZING tone! He knows how to use a delay nicely too.... Fattens up the tone immensely.... And... That Les Paul... with the P90's... Major League AWESOME sound... Carlton is Off The Charts! Thanks for posting!
This is so good it hurt my feelings!

Ah, Larry on a Les Paul Special.. this is probably the best blues playing I've heard from Larry!
Renhjarta 2 years ago
The best thing about his way of playing is that you can feel that jazzy run coming up, but he always surprises you with where he brings it in.
