Judging by the windsock the prevailing wind looked normal.
I had this once, and I've seen this with other experienced pilots as well .Even with a textbook takeoff, the glider "sticking" to a mountain slope no matter how hard you run. My theory is, that as a cold air sinks, it follows the contours of the mountain slopes causing these incidents.
It seems to me that the pilot braked too hard right after inflation when there was no need to brake at all, so the glider stopped in place, got behind her when she started running, and then shot forward as soon as it gained speed.
The glider went in front of the pilot, this may have been avoided by a faster run and perhaps a bit longer on the brakes, comes down to practising and kiting and luck
2, At begining of her running, the brake was hold, maybe for preventing frental collapse. She should release the brake slowly, but she did it too fast, then the glider was unloaded and go frent of her.
funny how different people see different things... I see a clean inflation and a nicely controlled turn, but she started to run just a little too fast and/or abruptly, leaving her wing behind her, hence the surge...
Just before the collapse, the pilot nearly got into her seat then realised she didn't have groundclearance, so she puts her feet down again. That's when and why the wing overtook her. Yes she should have used a little more brake or a little more aggression in her launch. The groundhandling at the start was actually very good. But "pixie stepping" is not a good technique.
In a hurry to fly, brotha ? Put the glider over yr head and stabilize it first, then go ;-P

don't run before the glider is even over your head ? :)

Encore une fois oscillation en tangage au décollage

thats not slow running, thats fucking bad brakes-handling. Hit the brakes harder, glider stays behind u..

See PDMC. You guys are crazy flying those collapsable wings, why ? When there are perfectly good hang gliders to fly, what, not man enough ?

I think a more aggressive run after her great inflation and surge check would have solved this problem. Don't tip-toe your takeoffs!!

The glider was launched OK.

but all in all not a funny incident

nice take off, great commitment

Awful attempt at take off. You see so much of this at Plaine Joux it's not funny...

Ouch, the Plaine Joux gravel rash, been there and done exactly that. Everyone does it now and again ...

Think he needs to learn how to control the glider before he tries to fly.. ^^

yeeep, no glider control here...
