  • People should get their Licence revoked because clearly they can't obey the Rules of the Road unless their blind and need glasses.

  • The facts are police do not enfore the laws like they should, fines are too low and court system is too lax.

Fines should be base on income.. Say 50% of income for a month.. Court systems should be very hard on motorist as they are the ones that can kill. If this was the way - Mr TVman would be out of a job....

  • There should be a light at that intersection.

  • Sometimes it seems like roads are just too busy for a crosswalk. That's how it's treated anyway.

  • They need a few "sting" operations to get the message across.

  • try walking across at 230am. it wont be busy then. trust me, ive been out at 230am and less cars are out

  • Damn fuckers

  • hey one car stopped at the end! :D

  • @Azeious hahahaha

  • maybe they didnt stop because your black brow that sucks

  • maybe they didnt stop because your black brow that sucks

  • Ooooh that's woodside road man! Get used to it!!!!!

  • i used to live right next to this crosswalk, in an apartment building. I remember one night someone died right there... hrm, wonder why.

  • This is an AWFUL place to cross! Kind of like Jefferson right by Whole Foods. Great video!

  • the problem with this xing walk is that it doesn't have a big bright yellow sign, no flashing yellow lights, and no blankers on the cross line indicate a ped is crossing. those 3 solutions would of make a difference.

  • hahahaha thts hella true u got to walk more down to wheres the light n its easyer ther

  • I have lived in Redwood City my entire life and we call Woodside Road a river. To get across you almost always have to use a stop light which this video proves.

  • id step partially in the walkway and wave at them..one foot in that walkway and they are OBLIGATED to stop

  • hey i used to live down that street passing chevron

  • They are afraid if they stop they will be carjacked.

  • i use to live there lol.

  • @LittleRicky63 me too

  • i live there ;)

  • Man, I live two blocks from that crosswalk. I hate it, everyone in Redwood City can't drive to save their life's.

  • I know where I live they don't stop for white people either...

  • LMFAO well im 15 now and ive been crossing that same street since i was 8 and they have always stopped for me. but thats probably because im a white boy...

  • They didn't stop because they are racist

  • REDWOOD CITY IS MY HOMETOWN

  • There should be a traffic signal placed there. Pedestrians who cross at streets without traffic signals is looking at suicide here.

  • Theres a crosswalk over by target in redwood city on el camino that is way more dangerous than that one. Especially at night. Theres no lights or anything, and when youre walking across people speed right by you. Ive almost been hit there so many times i decided to walk down the street and take another one.

  • I trace it to American car culture. Hopefully it'll change once petrol shortages start to kick in...

  • my brother was the guy who said that he crosses that street every day ....cool huh he was actually interview that day

  • my friend ghostrided his bike nd made 2 cars crash rite here

  • Check out what's going on in Victoria, Texas. One official said pedestrians are to yield to cars in crosswalks and that drivers yielding, as well as pedestrians not yielding, both will be fined around $150.00 for doing so. You can read about it in the Victoria Advocate online.

  • the easy solution is walking to a stop light wait till it turns red and then cross its common sense i do it all the time i did it when i walked home from woodside high when i go to jack in the box or any stores around there lol

  • i kno i juzt fuckin go if they hit me i sue

  • If you don't die in the process!

  • U got to take assertiveness on the drivers, if u just wait there patiently hoping they will stop, it will never happen. Just walk and they will stop for u.

  • Unless they don't ............On many occasions drivers don't stop resulting in the person crossing getting critically injured or killed ...I don't know about you but that is not a chance I am willing to take.

  • a kid from my school got ran over here on his bike the lady that hit him just kept driving

  • dude, you have to make your way across, i go to the middle school kennedy, (which is super close to woodside rd/plaza. you when the cares are like 10 secs away, just slowly walk across and they'll stop, force you way to the other side, well thats what i do

  • whats ur name! i go to kennedy!

  • well, im an 8th grader there, Sayavong... thats all you need to know

  • i go to kennedy too

  • If they built a pedestrian refuge island in the middle, at least you would only have to cross one half at a time.

This is the sort of place where the police could do a targeted crosswalk enforcement campaign. Subsititute a plain-clothed policeman for the reporter, and have a couple of motorcycle cops waiting down the block. There is nothing like a little well-publicized enforcement once in a while to remind people what they are supposed to be doing. Many cities do such enforcement campaigns.

  • give it a break!!! just lay down in the the middle of the street

  • but yea that is a hella busy street!

  • This is a block from my house and I totally know this problem!!! I've had the same experience...and notice the crosswalk is no where near the center median so you can't even run to that for safety when people are just trying to run you down! It's crazy...and there's been at least one fatality in this spot in the last few years. WHY doesn't the city do something about this area, like put in the flashing lights like some crosswalks have?!

  • Wow. I've got a place where I need to cross on foot sometimes, there is no crosswalk for a mile in either direction, and it's a residential neighborhood, the speed limit is 35 but most go about 50, I just have to run when it looks clear.

  • hahah i hate that cros walk too!! some time i go to my friends house to get some tacos from el grullense and we have to like wait for ahours

  • Theres like 2 of those El Grullense restaurants on Middlefield. Thats where I go (sometimes).

  • just walk in a few more steps. they won't hit you.

  • dud diz iz soooo bOrInG !!!!!

  • i think people see others not stopping for you and feel like they dont have to stop either. i believe they would have stopped for an old woman or children. why is that? are they the only ones that need to cross? people are bold and selective

  • the problem here is that the guy trying to croos was black....thats why even the sheriff didnt stop...no im not racist its just a fact

  • ok thats..um..retarted.

  • that brown van is our car

  • The problem is that people like me are not sure of the rules. Of course, we are supposed to stop when a pedestrian is walking in the crosswalk. But are we supposed to stop when the pedestrian is merely standing on the curb, but not in the street, waiting to cross? After 30 years of driving, I still don't know the answer.

  • So here is the answer, if you see someone standing at the curb in an marked or unmarked crosswalk, you should come to a safe stop and give that person the chance to cross the street. Try to make eye contact with said person to determine his or her intentions. then after the person finished crossing the intersection proceed. If it is a divided road wait till the person makes it to the island.

  • Yes, these crossings over Woodside Road can really drive you crazy! You wait forever for cars to stop (if they ever do). Even the new signs (yield to pedestrians) that have been put up do not really change anything.

You could have also filmed the crossing one block up (at Chuck's). Someone who obviously never crosses a street on foot had trees planted there that make it nearly impossible to see cars approaching and of course cars can overlook pedestrians real easy there.

  • As a dog owner who walks his dog several times a day, I know this is a problem. I wish police officers would crack down on this like they do drugs and prostitution, peole are not getting killed smoking weed, but the enforcement of that crime gats all of the pd's budget. What a shame!

  • Yeah ive tried crossing that place...

And that donut place... It's upchucks donuts lol

  • Hey Stanley, you should go to 19th Avenue in SF! Try 100 not stopping (Maybe an exxageration, maybe.)

  • Crossing the street in Italy is much more dangerous, because italian drivers don't stop even if they have red light and pedestrian have green. Living in Europe is so diffucult, because people from south Europe : Italy, Spain, Greece, France are so stupid.

  • WOW I USE 2 LIVE IN RWC! I MISS MA hometown! :'(

  • cHEABOy i LiiVE N rEDWOOD 2 iNziNt dAt pLACE by dA dOUGHNUTz N A LiTTLE BiT DOWN $4fEW4y HUH?

  • i like farting lol

  • i USED 2 LIVE IN REDWOOD CITY ... ( BUT I MOVED SO YA :) )

GOSH PEOPLE THESE DAYS :/ UGGH

  • Woodside road is hard enough to merge a car onto, let alone walk across. The only way I even try to do it is at a light. I don't know what the solution is, though.

  • Yeah, good job, I also live by Orchard Ave and Woodside Rd. My neighbor was hit last week by Chucks Donuts and El Grullense. Two broken legs, broken collar.

  • wow good job! I live in Redwood too and woodside road is a very hard road to cross. good movie!
