many folks are having this same problem....and some are winning, in casper wyoming, one man who had been a auto wrecker service and land owner, won his battle wit the county wanting him to get rid of all his cars and trucks, they later admited that he was a grandfather use and had to write him a letter stating that. we are still in our battle over our land use but it looks hopefull.
good luck and gather a good lawyer. land patints, try that.

The reason is probably a simple one. Perhaps the state and/or local government doesn't want anyone living in the desert; it's expensive to service even minimally. Perhaps municipal authorities just don't like independents and loners. Maybe it's desert preservation or some such enviro-nonsense.
