Sarah , you have the potential for having a great voice honey...but if I can make a sugestion please....please get profesional vocal lessons ....dont ruin your voice trying to force the music out through your nose....if I may say someone explained it to me this way...pretend there is a balloon on your bellybutton and you breath in and when you release the air let the sound come from the balloon...honey you really have the makings for a beautiful singer...hope I didnt offend you ..God Bless
this is not you singing this song u didnt do a good job of lip singing its kinda obvious plus im in a college chior and if u were to sing it like that your mouth would have to be more open cuz i have sang that song before
The Ewan MaColl song I was thinking of is called 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'. If you don't know it check it out, because you should do it! Or maybe you already have?
You're right Sarah, it wasn't Ewan McCol! I was having a senior moment, thinking of another song entirely!
It was originally part of a Scottish ballad called 'Lord Jamie Douglas'. 'Waly, Waly', or 'The Water Is Wide' is all that is left of it. It was called Waly, Waly back in the early 18th centuary. I got this info from an old Joan Baez song book that I bought in 1965.
Ewan McCall could sure write them. It's already a classic in the English folk scene. Ewan McCol was Kirsty McCols dad, she sang with the Pogues on Christmas in New York. Keep 'em coming Sarah!
Thanks :-) I'm pretty sure this is a traditional song, not written by the Pogues, as much I love listening to the Pogues... this is a traditional Scottish song, originally called "O Waly, Waly"
which I just found out. It's fun to find out the history behind old celtic songs :-)
Thanks again! You prompted me to read up on this a bit! XxSarah
This is such an absolutely beautiful song and your rendition of it was absolutely spectacular, 10 Stars as always Sarah. Your talent and voice are both absolutely phenomenal and brilliant. You can sing them all absolutely magnificently.
