brilliantly played. i have noticed that shri varma uses only the index finger to play the veena (uses the others for talam). i have seen others use both index and middle fingers. using only one finger requires you to quickly move that finger above and below the string.
is this a non standard technique that shri varmaji uses? or are there people who use both the techniques?
I asked Varma ji and he said it is much better to use both the fingers and that this was one of the wrong techniques he picked up by himself before he took proper veena lessons. Despite having learnt veena from two Gurus, he follows his own vocal based style which I personally love very much :)
