thanks to all the fucking tree hugging faggots ruining it all for diesels. There are WAY more damn gas engines in cars and pickups. Why dont they mess with them? They are just making diesels more expensive and more gutless.
Let a diesel be what it is a simple high power moter All this shit is killing them just put a cat on them and let them run. Its true they are dirtyer than a gas moter but there are more cars on the road than trucks Where do you find urea? we don't even have this shit in many places. Its just another thing the government is forcing in our face When the price of everything goes up mabe someone will get smart and rethink this idea. Opps I just farted with out a urea converter! Look out tree hugger!
this is a huge pile of bullshit!! all of the truckers would never put this piece of shit on theirs trucks, straight piping is the way to go!! loud and proud!
No one need to 'add' them to there current trucks... in 2010, The epa makes this required for Nox emmisions. Bypassing this is a violation of the clean air act. Huge fines!
This technolgy has been used in europe for yaers and have proved to be very reliable. I really don't think navistars system will work, MB have put some of the best technology into the new Detroit engines!
My point is that International won't have to carry the weight and complication of a SCR system on their 2010 models. I did not speculate on anything beyond that. Whether it's due to credits or pixie dust makes no difference.
Here's what Navistar isn't telling us -- how much bigger the cooling system will be for their 2010 engines, and thus how much heavier. More EGR means more heat -- that's got to be dealt with. Just something else to consider.
Navistar/International/MaxForce is the only manufacturer to not need this 300 pounds of extra crap for 2010. EGR is the way to go SCR is a stopgap measure at best.
Not necessarily so. Navistar is betting on NOx control tech that hasn't left the lab yet. They are using credits for 2010 certification that run out in 2012.
They call it one box, It's one box shit! Now you have to put 2 different fuels in a truck,& I bet it is take a small loan to pay for a replacement. Another thing they are so quiet you can not hear them anymore, just as dangerous as the hybred cars as to not knowing they are coming at you! Things worked fine before & no one is going to live any longer life because of the federally mandated usless item.

@pentontrans More egr doesn't mean more heat. NOx is caused by heat not the other way around.

Rules are rules, I'm afraid. No one has a choice when clean air is the law.
