You miss a hidden room full of life and heart maxes. The it's the room before fighting Richter. I think that you should have attack up onto the door way pillar right before the cross sub-weapon. Hope you get it.

I seem to recall that a bat familiar of a certain level will also echo with you and it makes that room even easier.
