There are at least 10,000 great songs from the seventies, this is certainly one of them! The sidebars on these posts keep leading me on this great re-discovery of the most incredible decade of all...thanks for this post and all the others, thanks to You Tube!!
MOM , DAD WHATS THAT GREAT SOUND COMING FROM THE STEREO ?? OH THAT, ITS CALLED MUSICAL TALENT , NOT HEARD MUCH THESEDAYS , BUT VERY POPULAR IN THE 70S AND 80S !!!!
@celi415 very well put. kids this day and age will never understand this music. came from the heart and soul. not about the money back then. Where have all the good times gone !
@DinoMireles78 I totally agree with you .. I was born in 71 and I grew up with this music all around my childhood.. "Magical" and "Blessed" is how I felt then.. even though I was a little girl then..
@Mahlercougar I know right?? Way back then... I so couldn't wait to be a grown up; thinking that everything would STILL be the same. ( especially when I saw Saturday Night Fever) Man was it disappointing when I hit 18. ( not that our musical era was bad, just didn't have the same feel as the 70's did)
WHAT 4 COONS DISLIKED THIS SONG? AWWW MAN...THIS WAS THE SHIZ-NIT...LOL...MY SISTA AND I USED TO KILL THIS JAM RIGHT HERE!!! I'M SURPRISED THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RE-MIX/RE-MAKE OF THIS JAM YET!!! I HOPE NOT...THIS IS CLASSIC MATERIAL...
@rosantcou LOL...Pardon self...let me rephrase that one then..."CHUMPS", "CORNBALLS"! I am very well aware was what "coons" meant back in the days, and that's jus' WE called cornball-MFs around the way back in my younger... Peace!
Kids my age just dont understand why i love 60s & 70s music so much. And unless they give this music a chance, they may never understand. They may feel bad for me but in all honesty, I feel bad for them. I guess im just a lucky teenage girl that got a taste of this wonderful music and never found a reason to turn back.
This song reminds me of recording music to tape with an open mic. I remember my little sister talking over the start of this while I was recording it. Kids today don't know how easy they have it !
@whitedevil, yeah it was Destroyeo that said it. you make my point though, your music sucks so bad that it makes you irrationaly angry I feel your pain,
...I bet you just copied lyrics from one of your favorite new songs for your reply, otherwise you really make zero sense....I can hear it now..." ok, RiffJazzyJet, box me four on the floor...ready.... "Stop being like every other fuckface retarded american, slobbing down the man's cheeseburgers... hey kid, vote Ron Paul, make your drugs legal.
Ballad, you are so right...I am 45 and I slept with my transistor radio listening to this music as it came out when I was a kid...I thought the music starting dying in the late 90's...(Corporate music that is) You have to search around the world and the internet to find real music by real people.....If I hear one more "four on the floor" song again I will puke.
@drewmaxon it wasnt ballad who said that you stupid old fuck. at least understand how technology of today works if you are going to use it, stop being like every other fuckfaced retarded american slobbing down cheeseburgers in an attempt to make the world a better place you are the one thing slowing us down from progressing you remind me of communist china where they dont allow the internet to be free what is the point of that and why do they feel the need to carry on with that practi
How could anybody NOT love this song? I had it on 45 in the 70's, played it LOUD in my apartment(not THAT loud) and my pain in the ass neighbor downstairs complained! I mean this was at 2PM in the F'n afternoon on a Tuesday! She couldn't enjoy this music and also probably never got laid! This song is GREAT-- Thank you for posting it.
"Sentimental Lady" and "I Go Crazy" and "Silver Wings" (I'm from Texas) and "Sad Eyes" and Christopher Cross and the Bee Gees and the Beach Boys and the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac and Thin Lizzy and VAN HALEN! Yeah! Those were great times for music!
@jeananne629 Lot of great ones, and would like to add I Am So Into You. Turned 13 in 79, and though my teenage years were in the 80's, I heard all of these songs on the radio in the car, on the school buss (the driver had speakers throughout, and cranked it while she/he would smoke cigarettes) and loved it!
@keazkelley I was 16 in 79 and was thinking about sweeping up cigarette butt in the supermarket where I worked in high school. We used to crack up the top 40 after the store closed and back then top 40 was mostly ROCK and ROLL
This is probably on my top 20 best songs of all time, and I've heard ALOT of music in my 45 years; taken from a guy who listens to deep 60's 70's classic rock .I can never get tired of this song; and deservedly earned a # 1 spot on Billboard top 40 back in '76.
@BalladOfThinMan ---I'm 43, and while I'm more of an 80s and 90s music fan, the popular music of the 60s and 70s is timeless and enduring. When you think about the crap they play today...its all autotuned & sampled, a droning, repetitive ProTools-created beat, unnecessarily smutty lyrics without harmony or arrangement and all about clubbing!!! I know the teens who love Perry, Gaga and Usher will say its their generation's music and that's fine, but I wish they knew how much better it could be.
No, I am talking about the writings of Edward Mandel House And Clinton Roosvelt (Rosenfeld) Theodore and Franklin's cousin. House, who secretly wrote the Protocols of Zion. And Rosevelt wrote the Communist manifesto and transferred it to Karl Marx. The communist rules for revolution are guidelines to provoke revolution by the people.
@EmbassyTerraLibra This is MUSIC for ENJOYMENT!! I think you need to take a class on "Political Stradagies"...You have a "Major" problem......the more you Comment, the weirder you sound. Get Off the Tube-write a Book.
@EmbassyTerraLibra Iteresting that you noted my "typographical" mistake. Does your answer mean that you "dribbbbbblllle" in "reality" or "lack of" once in a while. I will continue enjoying the MUSIC, & please, go to a "Football Video".
I do not believe that adding incorrect letters which are nowhere near the proper letters can be considered a typographical error, as the letter i and the letter d are not close to one another on the keyboard. A typographical error is when a letter is transposed with one close by, or alongside it on the keyboard, or a key is missed in high speed typing. Your spelling error does not qualify to be placed into this category. Because it is, in fact, a spelling error.
Ahh, I'm back in 11th grade again... O WAIT, I still am and this kind of music is the SHIT!!!! Love it, Listening again!!!! @RussX5Z I thought Joe Cocker was black too, could not understand why his album had that white dude on the cover untill i was corrected...hey! I was only like 10!
One of my favorite top 10 songs of all times! As a guitarist, musician, this songs has so many perfections, breaks, tempo changes, vocal perfections. Wow, I'm so impressed with song in rock music history.
Stirs up a few emotions listening to this. Loved it back then and havent heard this in decades. Recently found "his" photo on his girlfriends fb page, had a cry. We were sooo in love.
@vuelvetu me da mucho gusto saber que a otras personas les guste lo romantico que no volbera pero tendre en cuenta y vivire con el recuerdo de aquellos bonitos recuerdos de mi adolesencia
I hated everything about the 70's and it was a bad time to be young and powerless because nobody gave a %#@ about youth, but back to the music. David Bowie and a very small list of others were the only good thing that came out of that era. Just do a search for "bad music of the 70's" and it all comes up.
@Zuppos123 I couldnt agree more.I felt small and totally without any sence of self. I am afraid I went on to feel that way for a large part of my life. Thank god I finally found myself. But i love to go back to the music. Dont ask me why.LOL
Sure were a lot of sappy love songs in the 70s! This one has a few good riffs at the end...but the doorbell-like electric piano and that whole studio-musician-playing-white-soul sound comes across as very formulaic now.
@038368 I think you've over analyzed this. I was 23 when this was a radio hit, and I doubt if many people at the time even knew this was a white band (!) "Blue Eyed Soul" took off a little bit after Player. I only found out this was a white band a few years ago, by seeing a youtube vid. So I really don't think of it as sappy--just a beautiful love song:)
Although it is NOT an amazing song (the lyrics are so damn simple) but the way is sung and the simple fact that comes from an era and decade of excess (Rock, hard rock, disco, country, etc, etc) it has stood the test of time with brilliance. I rather hear this MUSIC over the CRAP that's being played now this days on the radio ( Lady CACA, soulja boy? ).These younger generations will NEVER get the opportunity to listen to real MUSIC. You are being brain washed.
@hector69ize what song is amazing?? The music of this period was entirely amazing and this is certainly part of the era--It was heard constantly on the radio and in the jukeboxes of the day - There were so many great songs from the 70s [each year] it's easy to become spoled by this music -- But I catch your drift [isn't that an old catch phrase?].. take care
Love is in the air. Makes my heart beats faster. Love time machine. Like I get this feeling of Barbara cartland love stories mixed up with modern touch.
I used to watch this clip and think 'wow that bass player really has a Ron Moss thing happening', imagine my surprise to find out it really IS Ron Moss!
(for those of you who don't know Ron Moss plays Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful and he was also the bass player here in Player)
And check out the Peter Beckett Rock Star moment at 3:52, I wonder if he looks back and thinks 'What the hell was I thinking?!
i think my Swiffer Wet Jet is looking at me right now

RussX5Z 5 months ago
@RussX5Z I thought Joe Cocker was black too, could not understand why his album had that white dude on the cover untill i was corrected...hey! I was only like 10!

WOOT!! I have always loved this song. A friend of mine always sang
it and I told my husband I always thought of our friend whenever I heard
it. After all it was innocent enough. I didn't mean the words for goodness
sake. Ladies don't ever make that mistake! LOL It's sad but on his death
bed he asked me if I ever cheated on him because he hadn't. And I know
it was because of this one little song and a terrible misunderstanding.
Thanks for sharing this video.

One of my favorite top 10 songs of all times! As a guitarist, musician, this songs has so many perfections, breaks, tempo changes, vocal perfections. Wow, I'm so impressed with song in rock music history.

I love this tune and I'm a huge Zeppelin and Blue Oyster Cult fan; but I love soft rock just as much. Hard to believe, eh?

I hated everything about the 70's and it was a bad time to be young and powerless because nobody gave a %#@ about youth, but back to the music. David Bowie and a very small list of others were the only good thing that came out of that era. Just do a search for "bad music of the 70's" and it all comes up.
Zuppos123 9 months ago
@Zuppos123 I couldnt agree more.I felt small and totally without any sence of self. I am afraid I went on to feel that way for a large part of my life. Thank god I finally found myself. But i love to go back to the music. Dont ask me why.LOL

@Zuppos123 Really? Please tell me more about the 70's. I was a 80's kid.

Sure were a lot of sappy love songs in the 70s! This one has a few good riffs at the end...but the doorbell-like electric piano and that whole studio-musician-playing-white-soul sound comes across as very formulaic now.
038368 11 months ago

You are being brain washed.
hector69ize 1 year ago 2
@hector69ize what song is amazing?? The music of this period was entirely amazing and this is certainly part of the era--It was heard constantly on the radio and in the jukeboxes of the day - There were so many great songs from the 70s [each year] it's easy to become spoled by this music -- But I catch your drift [isn't that an old catch phrase?].. take care
