At the moment, it isn't. News has gone around that Apple has rearranged the drivers making it harder to jailbreak, but the truth of the reality is, someone will crack it eventually. I personally feel there's no need to do it however as it offer's enough features with the App store.

the difference between 3g and 3gs is not much

better camera, video rec, better baterry life and thats about it really

it wont be a worthy investment because the 3.0 is coming out soon

well, unless you want to be able to record video (u could jailberak, but I found when u jailbreak an iPhone it becomes less reliable) or unless u want a compass. But otherwise, no, theres no point, just wait another year till your contract expires and apple will prob have another iPhone out by then..lol
