I agree with the shut down. Unfortunately a little too late. This happened to someone very close to me and like he said in this video, if you try to fight for your innocence, they throw more charges at you. It wasn't worth the chance of going to jail for 20 years, so they took a plea of 3 years. Who in their right mind WOULD fight knowing there's a chance they'll spend the rest of their life in prison?
Why can't the developers just filter out all this sick garbage so we can still download music and videos and stuff? Im sure it's got to be possible to implement some kind of anti-porn firewall....or something like they do here on youtube to keep people from posting porn.
I searched for videos and music one day and accidentaly downloaded a movie with this disgusting stuff. I had a program called eraser to delete the file totally. There has gone 2 years since that, and no police has knocked my door yet. Still, i got a fright that i never will forget. So yes, limewire shut down, HOORAAAY!

This is true, thats why limewire, in the pro version of the software, you have the ability to mark a certain file as spam and it will be blanked or faded out.
what I don't get is that if limewire would used some sort of filter against these things ..child porn ..music rights ..would it become Legal to use it after that?
@moayeed84 Yes a filter would be nice but then again it's not going to solve anything since majority of the times if there is a filter there are ways to get passed it if you have that kind of programming skill. The fact child porn is available on the servers doesn't make it safe despite all the filters you place on it.
The only way to make something like that legal software is to make it so that the RIAA gets a royalty check from all the downloads they make.
A few years ago I used Limewire daily and so did all my friends. Yes it was a great software to get free stuff but I stopped using it because of the reason David is talking about. I would download so much stuff from movies, pictures and music. I cant tell you how many times I got child porn. I would download a file called funny video and it would be some sick child porn. I got tired of the crap and gave up. I would send emails to Limewire telling this file needs to be deleted ASAP but nothing.
interesting perspective,i really think some laws need to be changed. the damage is already done when pictures are taken. Its the people who produce cp who should be taken down the hardest not people who view it (it should be like weed, illegal to distribute but you cant get into much trouble <100g). Pedos are then able to enjoy themselves instead of stalking kids down at the beach etc. Its very border line. but I read an article on
