I'm originally from Loudon County, Maryland right outside of DC (the cradle of Black Greekdom) but I've lived in Atlanta, Georgia since I was a freshman in college, Clark Atlanta class of 2007. But yeah at Howard and at the Atlanta University Center the Greek love is unbelievable, my two best friends in this entire world are an AKA and a Zeta and we were all on line at the same time.
@stoptalkinsmack No I don't mind at all. I crossed at Troy University in Troy, AL. Spring '05-Mu Alpha Chapter. And no, I'm definitely not an undergrad anymore. I graduated in May 2006 and am now an active general member of AKA. I havn't joined a grad chapter b/c I've move around frequently due to my job, so it wudn't make sense to commit to a grad chapter.

Everybody says they are duck walking on this video, but I have yet to see a single duck walk. Really. They didn't duck walk. AKAs don't duck walk. Even if they are trying to diss. Putting your hands out to the side and stepping from side to side isn't duck walking.
@ LooseEnds06.. My godmother pledged DST delta alpha and she duck walked this was more than 20 years ago close to 30 years ago. Maybe they didn't duckwalk at the school that you attended but it's not fair to make an assumption that delta's copied aka just because you didn't see deltas duckwalking on your campus.

I am going to second that because trust me when I say I pledged a frat 20 years ago and this was clearly known as any Ivy stance. It was years later that I started seeing Deltas do a similar step and call it the duck walk!

My founders were women who were about business and service and ACTION and AKA was purposeless at the time so they broke off and created the ultimate sorority that is Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. We've been making a difference since DAY ONE, i.e the WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE MARCH as opposed to AKA's who were to be being "pretty" to even care.

@preciouspearl1908 Lol, some people can't be helped lol I hope she comes to her senses soon lol. But I'm glad we're on the same page. Where I'm from we don't just call members of our own sorority soror but we call members of other sorority , i.e AKA, Zeta, Sigma soror too lol. I've been to places like Texas wearing my Delta para and saw an AKA in para and called her soror and she looked at me crazy. Anyways, glad we came to an agreement Soror/Sister Greek.

I'm originally from Loudon County, Maryland right outside of DC (the cradle of Black Greekdom) but I've lived in Atlanta, Georgia since I was a freshman in college, Clark Atlanta class of 2007. But yeah at Howard and at the Atlanta University Center the Greek love is unbelievable, my two best friends in this entire world are an AKA and a Zeta and we were all on line at the same time.

@stoptalkinsmack No I don't mind at all. I crossed at Troy University in Troy, AL. Spring '05-Mu Alpha Chapter. And no, I'm definitely not an undergrad anymore. I graduated in May 2006 and am now an active general member of AKA. I havn't joined a grad chapter b/c I've move around frequently due to my job, so it wudn't make sense to commit to a grad chapter.

@preciouspearl1908 (continued) I had the priviledge of talking to one of Delta's first initiates from Alpha Chapter and she said that the 22 actually left AKA because they were dark skin and the lighter skin AKA's put them to work. Now Idk the validity of that but that was just a tidbit. The point is while I understand you love the sorority but if you were so confident in it you wouldn't even have to defend it. So just leave it alone. End of story.

I love all of my Sister Greek and Brother Greeks, and I'll be the main person to defend AKA if I hear of someone bashing it even though I'm a DST because I realize we're all family. Instead of dwelling on how so and so organization was founded can we please work together for our common goal. This is plain foolishness. Arguing about who's org is better is pointless because I'll still think DST is better at the end of the day.

I knew well before I ever filled out the application and showed up to rush that DST was in my heart. I have a great love my my sister Greeks my BEST FRIEND in this entire world is an AKA. I believe whatever organization is in your heart you should go for it. I personally did not see any significance in another other sorority.

Those u associate with may not have ever wanted to be AKAs but SEVERAL (an unusual high amount, literally) did. That's all I'm sayin. Now, I clearly let the world know how ur org came to be and despite the past, I'm still for Greek love all day. But like u said, AKA is in *MY* heart & I defend it as i shud--the same as u or any black Greek wud do 4 their org.

It's crazy how aka's and Deltas go on and on about the ivy stance looking like the duck walk and aka was here first. But If you do research you'll see that hand signs and "strolls" "steps" and things of that nature werent created until later on in the sororities life. When Akas organization was founded they didnt throw up the pinky when Deltas where founded they didn't throuw up the pyramid when Zetas were founded they didn't throw up the kitty kat.....This all came with time...#justsoyouknow

I am a Delta and it def did look like OUR duck walk they were doing as well as our Elephant line.
If you don't know the meaning of something, don't just do it cause it looks cute.
Other than that, the performance was nice.

@wizebkgal sweetie, the reason it would look like your sorority's moves is because your duck walk is an IMITATION of OUR Ivy stance and walk. Remember, we were here first, sooo anything u do that looks similar to us is always gonna be looked at as an imitation.

I am going to second that because trust me when I say I pledged a frat 20 years ago and this was clearly known as any Ivy stance. It was years later that I started seeing Deltas do a similar step and call it the duck walk!

@deltadiva35 Please get it right, hun. YOUR first president was a disgruntled unfaithful, unloyal AKA who could not have her way, and that's the OBVIOUS REASON. And when were YOU incorporated--officially? 1930!!! And ever since that mistake y'all made in 1913, u been playing catch up ever since. Don't try to school me boo. I know my history and like I said the FIRST (& Finest) will always have imitators. But we're used to it. SKEEEE-WEEEE!!!!!

@preciouspearl1908 Ok, you need to GROW UP obviously. First of all Who Cares Who's first or last? The whole idea of joining a sorority or fraternity is to give back to our community. I don't need to be schooled. I am entitled to my choice and opinion, as you are. I respect all organizations whether AKA, Zeta, or SG Rho!! So..... When you learn the true meaning of being a part of Greek Life then let me know. That's when we can communicate, but until then hun...... GROW UP!!

@preciouspearl1908 I am as GROWN as I'm going to get for the time being, so please don't come with the grow up game b/c I simply stated facts after you called yourself telling me what really happened back then, but Iike I said I know MY history and it's one that rich, original, and true. I am all about Greek Unity and service to all mankind, but u on here getting upset with me over a conversation that didn't involve you. & we dnt need to communicate hun. who's losing sleep over youtube? @preciouspearl1908 uh sweetheart, playing catch up? AKA wasn't even thinking about becoming incorporated until my founders FIRST came up with the idea. My founders were women who were about business and service and ACTION and AKA was purposeless at the time so they broke off and created the ultimate sorority that is Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. We've been making a difference since DAY ONE, i.e the WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE MARCH as opposed to AKA's who were to be being "pretty" to even care.

@stoptalkinsmack Of course your history book has twisted the story to make ur FAILED scheme look like it really had a valid purpose but the Devil is a lie. Honey, Ethel and other grad members had had previous discussions about expanding the sorority and making it a legal entity thru 1909-1912 and were indeed gonna do it anyway. But it happened sooner than planned b/c a group of traitors (currently known as DST) pledged AKA with an underlying plan to takeover and it backfired in their faces...

And sweetheart our founders would have gladly enhanced and made AKA a true sisterhood of social action minded women had Ms. Quander not stuck her nose in and objected to making AKA meaningful for a change.

Also, did u know my Sorors went out into the D.C. community and surrounding areas SERVING those who were less fortunate? beaten down by poverty? socioeconomic challenges from 1908-now? And the reason we ALL know ur poor excuse for betraying ur org is a lie? All, i repeat, ALL--of my founders had graduated when ur founders were initiated &

I tell you this, ask greeks who pledge 20 years ago if the Delta's was doing this duck walk! I will tell you that they were not. The AKAs were doing this Ivy stance when I came into college and before I pledged my fraternity; and I pledged 20 years ago.
