I just wanna say that I adore all interpretations of this singer which I found here. He is complete - intelligent delivery, perfect timing and beautiful voice... bravo!
@JosquenD You are right, I think so too... Maybe MacLeod chose a faster tempo to allow him to display more agility in the variations.
He made another recording of this cantata (live) one year earlier with the orchestra "Montréal Baroque" conducted by Eric Milnes. The tempo is slower than here, but although he sings flawlessly, I was a little disappointed with the playing of the orchestra, and particularly with the oboist... at some moments they even drowned his delicate pianissimi :(
