I would say they deserve to be in the wild. Whatever should come of them in their natural habitat - outside of the intervention of man - so be it. Almost all other options are born of our selfishness.
that is true in many ways. but, there are no absolutes, in some ways if humankinds actions have caused the deliberate death of a species numbers, should we then try and reverse our actions back to the prior state of normality? its a touchy subject!
