  • This song dates back to the 30's but Chris turns it into a wonderful 60's bossa nova :)

  • 9 dislikes? Geez...

  • I love you Chris, You are great. I love your music. Kisses

  • shit i thought a woman sung this

  • Fabulous music!!!

  • I like his slightly off key rendition. You can see someone sitting across a table gazing into a pair of dangerous emerald green eyes.

  • I'll see him again Crisoforo Montanez (Chris Montez) from Michoacan, Mexico. Port Arthur, Tex. This November 5, 2011. together with Johnny Tillotson and more.

  • Loving this. Soooo smooth!

  • chills

  • My favorite summer, 1966 in the arms of my first love..this song brings me right back there.

  • Cuando el amor se desborda !

  • i remember helping my mum cooking sunday lunch when i was about 8yrs old and her dancing and singing round the kitchen, it so reminds me of her .... she still loves it today and she is 78

  • I've always enjoyed this one. As a kid drinking Fizzies, and later on as a horrny ol' fart drinking Corona.

  • This song is so groovy! I'm digging it man....good stuff.

  • I love this young man... This is a great song.

  • A beautiful tune to stay in the heart, and whoever is responsible, thank you and a big thank you to Chris Montez - be proud for such a wonderful song.

  • OF COURSE.....

  • Chris is still one of my favorite artists.... I listend to this album over and over and over when I was in high school. Now I am a professional vocalist and try to incorporate his unique style in to my tunes as much as I can. I've tried to find this album to purchase but guess it is out of print, sadly. He's awesome.

  • @jazzbirdbecky You've checked ebay? They do have a lot of the old stuff.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Chris this last Saturday at the Market Square in San Antonio (9-17 2011) He was quite a gentleman, very soft spoken guy. I remember this song as a child.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • I never knew who sang this and I.... always assumed it was a woman. o.O

  • when i started my record collection when i got a better record player in 1975 when i was six and this was one of the first 45s i had .replaced it in 1985 when the record was badly worn out.that's how i heard of him and still do on a one of his greatest hits cd(still got the replacement 45)

  • sang this song on karaoke the other night at my local love this song

  • I knew this listening Terao Akira sing.

  • Uma deliciosa melodia.

  • My father had this 45 when I was growing up. It was one of my favorite songs that he'd play. I found his old 45 after he'd passed away four years ago, but sadly, it was cracked. I haven't found the Chris Montez version on iTunes or anywhere else in digital format, so I'm glad I could at least hear it here. Thanks for sharing, artidex2010!

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Chris when I appeared on "The Bobby Vee Show" in the U.K. a few years ago......He's a great guy and still has the magic.Him and Bobby are absolute gentlemen...a credit to the business....photos on my website donwoods.co.uk

  • I watched Malt Shop Memories too and it brought back a flood from the past. He was one of my favorites!

  • I discovered Chris by watching Malt Shop Memories: The Concert on WUSF at midnight. I like his music. It was on Sunday 8/07.

  • Chris Montez - music which is just so sunny and laid back with memories of 1966 ... Thanks for post.

  • beauty... onder..

  • THIS IS TRUE

  • The more I see you, The more I want you Somehow this feeling just grows and grows With every sigh I become more mad about you More lost without you and so it goes Can you imagine how much I love you? The more I see you as years go by I know the only one for me can only be you My arms won't free you, and my heart won't try
  • I totally agree with most the comments , it is a fantastic song which cannot date , the melody is catchy and his voice is beautiful, I was 9 in 1965 and my sister use to play it, I now play it on the piano. Thank you for posting artdex 2010.

  • @ulisor1 Eu sou mexicano eu amo Brazil no falo portugues.

Chris Montes is Mexicano ese garoto vive USA seus canciones son 1960.

Eu sou CARIOCA DE A CIDADE DU MEXICO

  • He doesn't sound like much of a singer to me

  • I play this song over and over in my head along with "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" a pop song from 1949 that was re-released in the late winter of 1965. Similar songs with a bit of melancholia to them.

  • hilarious;D i love it

  • Mon Dieu! Cette chanson me fait voyager 40 ans en arrière! Je me souviens même de la déco de la maison des gens chez qui j'étais! Musique et parfums, quel pouvoir!

  • :D great song!

  • Linda música!anos 60 quanta saudades boa!

  • Hey...thanks for posting! I can remember turning this song in on my AM Transistor Radio, holding it to my ear, and loving this cheerful, uncomplicated song....and, as a bonus, I can sing along! : ) Good morning music

  • Loved it then, still love it now!

  • This would have been brilliant song if only for one thing . That bloody what sounds like clapping in the back ground . For me that does spoil it .

  • This is my mums fav song lol

  • smooth lounge classic :-)

  • I grow up with his songs in Mexico City, I never new I was going to meet him

but I did, in Galveston Texas back in 2005.

He told me he was born in Michocan Mexico and his real name was Cristoforo Montanez, his parents move from Michoacan Mexico to Los Angeles were he started to sing.

    Saludos desde Houston , Texas

  • I've liked this song since I first heard it, when I Was 5 years old. ^_^

  • I always thought this was a girls voice...0_0

  • I believe that's Herb Alpert urging Chris on with, "Go Chris!" that can be heard on this record. Herb certainly had a great eye for spotting wonderful new performers and songs (Chris Montez, The Carpenters, many more!)

  • Linda canção ,inesquecivel !!

  • fantasic song fromthe sixties love it they dont makem like this anymore.

  • This song remember me the beach, the summer...........another time.

  • Summer of 1966----I am writing a short story about the era and I reference this song. Stay tuned!!

  • @chuckbuckbobuck _ Summer of '66 ~~ just graduated high school, in love, what a good time. Would love to read your short story about that MAGIC time. Thanks for the memories !

  • @Fearlessxx15 SUMMER YES THEN WE HAD SUMMERS AND BRILL SONGS LIKE THIS.

  • The voice is cool, detached, shallow and a little off-key, but WOW I love it

  • Better singers did this song many times, but Chris's is the coolest! You just wanna smile and clap along...

  • jonsilence: I was surprised to see Chris Montez name appearing at El Camino College a few days ago. I didn't get the date so please check with El Camino College for more info.

  • I was surprised to see Chris Montez name appearing at El Camino College a few days ago. I didn't get the date so please check with El Camino College for more info.

  • Chris Montez lived in Lawndale just a few blocks from me, near El Camino College...I used to hear him and his band practicing in the mid 60s. Where is he now?

  • Ah so many happy memories go with this ...still a great song ...x

  • I interviewed Chris in 2001 backstage at London's Palladium and he was without a doubt the classiest gent it's been my pleasure to interview!

  • arizonastrip73 just said it all. My sentiments entirely. I too grew up with this, 16 years old when it came out and just playing it this morning is taking me to places I haven't thought of much since I left home.

  • When this came out I had just started my professional career, one that would last for 45 years. I retired last year and now I wander about in my memories using songs like this. It was great then and even greater now.

  • Syosset, NY, 1966 - I dated a guy for 9 months. We fell in love and we got engaged. So, we are sitting at Christiano's Restaurant one night, planning our wedding, but we couldn't come up with a wedding song. Someone went over to the jukebox, put a dime in the slot, and Chris Montez's version of "The More i See You" started playing. We started listening to the words and by the time the record ended, we had our wedding song! And I've loved it ever since.

  • @Kathleen5429 That's a really nice story. Mine - that I've put somewhere here before - is a bit more confused. I was in Berlin (having hitch-hiked from London) visiting a girl who turned out to have a boyfriend. But one of her friends came along and hummed this song every time I saw her. I was just too stupid to pick up on it and wondered for years what would have happened if I had realised.

  • @Kathleen5429

lol, your only two train stations away from me

  • @Kathleen5429 Great love story, Kathleen. I love it!

  • Good one.

  • I used to sing this song to my wife when we dated. Love the song. Thanks for posting it.

  • Heard this song on the radio last night. Liked it so much that I went onto ebay and bought the CD !

  • @weederek1 All the songs are great! Have the album, if you know what that is. LOL. Enjoy!!!!

  • TUNE CAME OUT SAME TIME I OWNED 66 GTO!! USED TO CRANK IT CRUZING REVERE BEACH,MASS.!! THNX FOR SHARING!!!

  • A CLASSIC!!!

  • SAUDADE DE UM PASSADO...

EU ERA FELIZ E NÃO SABIA!

  • Montanez's masterpiece

  • A beautiful sweet song that truely reflects those charming innocent days of the 60s. Chris montez brought this song to life with his youthful charm and soft voice.

  • this song just goes to show how this country is the 'land of oppurtunity'...because this guy has no talent, sounds like a girl, and for years growing up i thought a woman sang this song!....i now local tavern singers that would bury this guy/girl!

  • Great tune.

  • So many wonderful memories! Fabulous! Love his style and his voice and his way of doing certain songs. Love this.

  • เพราะตลอดกาล !!!

  • i am proud to say i always sing this song when i karaoke and dedicate to my grandson, he's 18 yrs. now....he hasn't complained yet..lol

  • Only being 25 years old I was sadly not around when this was first released. But I think the song transcends generations because I know so many people my age who love this song, it never seems to get old or dated

  • @spider23000 --I'm happy to hear that people your age have discovered songs like this---it brings back so many happy memories for me.......I am 53.

  • @spider23000 IM IN LATE 50S AND I STILL LOVE THIS ,

  • Awesome melllow Classic !

  • I loved the original in Diamond Horseshoe. I love Montez'. I love this song in ANY permutation. If a half-nude punk in a Mohawk screamed it, I'd love it. If someone rapped it, I'd love it. It's just a fantastic song.

  • @marginallymental I feel the same way. This is the sort of song that inspires my own melodies. A very similar song by the same composer is "There Will Never Be Another You"--similar long line and mastery

  • THANKS so much for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" for us to enjoy! I've always been glad that the very talented Mr Montez reprised this 40's hit (and also did the same for "Time After Time"). He brought these classic tunes of yesteryear to the attention of the young people of the 60's, making them popular to a new & appreciative generation. Wonderful songs...sung by a wonderful singer! THANKS again! CHEERS! :)

  • j'adore, très belle voix en plus.

  • My arms won't free you,

    and my heart won't try

  • My arms won't free you,

    and my heart won't try

  • Cool classic from the swinging 60's

  • @yogafan6500 - want to hear more, year by year? This is the 90th song now on my 1966 playlist. I've got 111 lists for every year since 1900, all genres together, just like they used to play off the radio in the old days.

There are then 300 more lists for individual artists & 100 more lists after that. 10,000 songs waiting to take you on a journey around the world or back through time!

  • This Song

The More I See You By Chris Montez

Is Just What The Doctor Ordered And Is A Dame Good Song As Well I

  • I don't this guy have a good voice, however I like him

  • @bmwstan ur an idiot and u know nothing about music

  • Funny I was born in67 but somehow know this song so well. Anyone know the year it was released?

  • n1dks this song was released in 1966 on Chris's first LP for A&M records which was also titled The More I See You.

  • Until today I hadn't heard this for years. It's strange how the memory plays tricks; I thought of the song as pure jazz/Bossa Nova in the Getz/Gilberto vein (and Astrud must have sung it at some time), but the piano is pure Nashville!

  • timeless

  • I know the only one for me can only be you,

My arms won't free you and my heart won't try

    I Love You Kim !!

  • My late aunt loved this and she sang it to me when I was a child as we walked across the bay

  • I thought this was being sung by a woman when I first heard it.

  • Class!.. what a song... so simple, but thats what makes it beautiful.. roll on the summer..

  • this was recorded as though they were having a blast. god but i love this guy!!!!!

  • for those interested, there is quite a new spin on this song by Junior kelly.... very different, but still a great song.... "arms wont free you, heart wont try

  • I don't know why but this song reminds me of The Muppet Show. That is a compliment, because the Muppets are great..!!

  • @sexymama1966 yeah im sure you could..this is really a good song..i bet you smell frog ass every morning though..

  • One of my faves by CM. Thanks for posting!

  • i remember this song it took me back to i was 16

but the back up singers are so out off tune

  • I know what you mean about the backing singers, but I just think that adds to lazy, swinging vibe of the song.

  • What an incredible work!

    Francis J. O'Reilly

  • Gosh I remember singing this when I was kid, Love his style. So smooth!! sing it baby sing it.

  • i look for a differnt version by an other artíst! who can help?

  • peter allen

  • Bueno, yo me conformo con conocer la portada del disco.

  • Agradezco mucho a la finísima persona que subió esta canción, tenía mucho que no la escuchaba.

  • i try to find a very very similar song.

    somebody knows?

  • 'see you in september' by julie budd?

  • @alexgforce There Will Never be Another You, perhaps? Montez also sang that and it's by the same composer. And it's in the same style and is just as great a melody!

  • @7NTM61Ic The backing band was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. If you listen to Herb Alpert from this era, you'll hear the similarities. Same structure, tempo, latin sound, etc.

  • @dasfmn1997 Interesting, but I don't see the relation to what I was saying.

  • very nice

    thank you shirls2

  • Ain't nothin' this smooth or sophisticated being recorded today...More's the pity.
