Hablaba con unos amigos sobre música antigua y recordé ésta canción que le encantaba a mi padre, la busqué y aquí estoy, música y letra como no hay ahora ... con ése sabor de antaño . . .
I'll see him again Crisoforo Montanez (Chris Montez) from Michoacan, Mexico. Port Arthur, Tex. This November 5, 2011. together with Johnny Tillotson and more.
i remember helping my mum cooking sunday lunch when i was about 8yrs old and her dancing and singing round the kitchen, it so reminds me of her .... she still loves it today and she is 78
A beautiful tune to stay in the heart, and whoever is responsible, thank you and a big thank you to Chris Montez - be proud for such a wonderful song.
Chris is still one of my favorite artists.... I listend to this album over and over and over when I was in high school. Now I am a professional vocalist and try to incorporate his unique style in to my tunes as much as I can. I've tried to find this album to purchase but guess it is out of print, sadly. He's awesome.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chris this last Saturday at the Market Square in San Antonio (9-17 2011) He was quite a gentleman, very soft spoken guy. I remember this song as a child.
when i started my record collection when i got a better record player in 1975 when i was six and this was one of the first 45s i had .replaced it in 1985 when the record was badly worn out.that's how i heard of him and still do on a one of his greatest hits cd(still got the replacement 45)

The more I see you, The more I want you Somehow this feeling just grows and grows With every sigh I become more mad about you More lost without you and so it goes Can you imagine how much I love you? The more I see you as years go by I know the only one for me can only be you My arms won't free you, and my heart won't try
I totally agree with most the comments , it is a fantastic song which cannot date , the melody is catchy and his voice is beautiful, I was 9 in 1965 and my sister use to play it, I now play it on the piano. Thank you for posting artdex 2010.
I play this song over and over in my head along with "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" a pop song from 1949 that was re-released in the late winter of 1965. Similar songs with a bit of melancholia to them.
Mon Dieu! Cette chanson me fait voyager 40 ans en arrière! Je me souviens même de la déco de la maison des gens chez qui j'étais! Musique et parfums, quel pouvoir!
Hey...thanks for posting! I can remember turning this song in on my AM Transistor Radio, holding it to my ear, and loving this cheerful, uncomplicated song....and, as a bonus, I can sing along! : ) Good morning music
I grow up with his songs in Mexico City, I never new I was going to meet him
but I did, in Galveston Texas back in 2005.
He told me he was born in Michocan Mexico and his real name was Cristoforo Montanez, his parents move from Michoacan Mexico to Los Angeles were he started to sing.
I believe that's Herb Alpert urging Chris on with, "Go Chris!" that can be heard on this record. Herb certainly had a great eye for spotting wonderful new performers and songs (Chris Montez, The Carpenters, many more!)
@chuckbuckbobuck _ Summer of '66 ~~ just graduated high school, in love, what a good time. Would love to read your short story about that MAGIC time. Thanks for the memories !

I was surprised to see Chris Montez name appearing at El Camino College a few days ago. I didn't get the date so please check with El Camino College for more info.
Chris Montez lived in Lawndale just a few blocks from me, near El Camino College...I used to hear him and his band practicing in the mid 60s. Where is he now?
arizonastrip73 just said it all. My sentiments entirely. I too grew up with this, 16 years old when it came out and just playing it this morning is taking me to places I haven't thought of much since I left home.
When this came out I had just started my professional career, one that would last for 45 years. I retired last year and now I wander about in my memories using songs like this. It was great then and even greater now.
Syosset, NY, 1966 - I dated a guy for 9 months. We fell in love and we got engaged. So, we are sitting at Christiano's Restaurant one night, planning our wedding, but we couldn't come up with a wedding song. Someone went over to the jukebox, put a dime in the slot, and Chris Montez's version of "The More i See You" started playing. We started listening to the words and by the time the record ended, we had our wedding song! And I've loved it ever since.
@Kathleen5429 That's a really nice story. Mine - that I've put somewhere here before - is a bit more confused. I was in Berlin (having hitch-hiked from London) visiting a girl who turned out to have a boyfriend. But one of her friends came along and hummed this song every time I saw her. I was just too stupid to pick up on it and wondered for years what would have happened if I had realised.
A beautiful sweet song that truely reflects those charming innocent days of the 60s. Chris montez brought this song to life with his youthful charm and soft voice.
this song just goes to show how this country is the 'land of oppurtunity'...because this guy has no talent, sounds like a girl, and for years growing up i thought a woman sang this song!....i now local tavern singers that would bury this guy/girl!
Only being 25 years old I was sadly not around when this was first released. But I think the song transcends generations because I know so many people my age who love this song, it never seems to get old or dated
I loved the original in Diamond Horseshoe. I love Montez'. I love this song in ANY permutation. If a half-nude punk in a Mohawk screamed it, I'd love it. If someone rapped it, I'd love it. It's just a fantastic song.
@marginallymental I feel the same way. This is the sort of song that inspires my own melodies. A very similar song by the same composer is "There Will Never Be Another You"--similar long line and mastery
THANKS so much for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" for us to enjoy! I've always been glad that the very talented Mr Montez reprised this 40's hit (and also did the same for "Time After Time"). He brought these classic tunes of yesteryear to the attention of the young people of the 60's, making them popular to a new & appreciative generation. Wonderful songs...sung by a wonderful singer! THANKS again! CHEERS! :)
@yogafan6500 - want to hear more, year by year? This is the 90th song now on my 1966 playlist. I've got 111 lists for every year since 1900, all genres together, just like they used to play off the radio in the old days.
There are then 300 more lists for individual artists & 100 more lists after that. 10,000 songs waiting to take you on a journey around the world or back through time!
Is Just What The Doctor Ordered And Is A Dame Good Song As Well I
Do Think All Classic Hit Radio Stations What Play Music Should Play This Song The More I See You Wright Now And If I Find A Band I Would Bring This Song Out Wright Now Again And That Is True
i love chris voice, unique. he sounds like a girl. first son i heard fly me to the moon i thought it was sung by a girl. love the light jazzy playful teasing sound that characterizes his style
Until today I hadn't heard this for years. It's strange how the memory plays tricks; I thought of the song as pure jazz/Bossa Nova in the Getz/Gilberto vein (and Astrud must have sung it at some time), but the piano is pure Nashville!
for those interested, there is quite a new spin on this song by Junior kelly.... very different, but still a great song.... "arms wont free you, heart wont try
@alexgforce There Will Never be Another You, perhaps? Montez also sang that and it's by the same composer. And it's in the same style and is just as great a melody!
@7NTM61Ic The backing band was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. If you listen to Herb Alpert from this era, you'll hear the similarities. Same structure, tempo, latin sound, etc.
Grandiosa interpretaciòn de si màs te veo es la mejor y maxime por esa epoca dorada del rock and rool favulosos 60's, graciasArtidex 2010 por agregar esta melodia.
This song dates back to the 30's but Chris turns it into a wonderful 60's bossa nova :)

'see you in september' by julie budd?
vmarc7 2 years ago
@alexgforce There Will Never be Another You, perhaps? Montez also sang that and it's by the same composer. And it's in the same style and is just as great a melody!

@7NTM61Ic The backing band was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. If you listen to Herb Alpert from this era, you'll hear the similarities. Same structure, tempo, latin sound, etc.
