thenamesdation... How many stacks you run on a truck has nothing to do with what engine you have, its a personal preference just like running mud tires or all terraine tires. Only one pipe comes off the turbo so you can eithet split the exhaust or leave it single. I personally like the sound of an unbroken exhaust and one stack looks just fine just the same as two of em.

ah and tuners and chips vary depending on the type of tune and who designed it will determine smoke as well.. i had a superchip flash paq maxed out and it burned cleaner then my sct tuner on the performance tow tune 7.3s if you want lots of smoke without the turbo and injectors dp tuner makes the f5 chip which has a 140hp smoke setting i ran it on my old truck and it was lots of fun around home depot!! (i live in az) day laborers..

This was try #1 at twin turbos. If you see my other videos you can see try #2 in "Twin turbo first run" You can also see " turbo lag" to see what you think about the lag. Also you can see "turbo testing" which was twin turbo setup #3.

I knew it, this truck was built for sled pulling. If you look at the front bumper as he's filming around the front of the truck right at the beginning of the video, you'll see what looks like two receiver hitches where the recovery hooks would be. Those receivers are for a removable weight rack on the front of the truck. It may not be used ONLY for pulling, but that was definitely one of his intentions with it.

CoryWinkler08, a diesel that's running really rich or has had it's diesel particulate filter will smoke like that, it's just soot from the fuel.

RPMLegends, he probably built that truck to be a 2.6 or 2.8 class pulling truck, so it won't launch well on pavement, but hook it up to a sled and put dirt under those wheels and watch what it can do.

What do you mean particulate filter. I have 7.3, piped (turbo Back) chipped, intake, shift kit... and other stuff... its bagged fuel cell hide-a-way goose neck tool box rims and tires, boost and pyrometer on the pillar...

I cant make it smoke like it should. i have cleaned the ingectors with the stuff in the bottle many times. cleaned the filter for more air... the chip is all the way up. its a 4" pipe with a 5" chrome rolled tip.

Diesels made after 2007ish have what's called a diesel particulate filter. It's a filter in-line on the exhaust (you'd know it if you had one) that filters out soot. Every so often it will burn out the crud in it to keep your truck running in tip top shape. What most people don't realize is that if you have your truck tuned right to make max power and run with max fuel efficiency, you won't get much smoke, if any at all.

No domestic pick-up truck builder make's their own diesel engines. The Duramax is an Isuzu diesel, not GM. The Cummins is (thank God) not made by Chrysler. And, International makes the Powerstroke. The only truck maker that has thought about making their own diesel engine is Toyota and soon to be Ford.
