Very nice and I hope everyone had a blessed Yule. I am reminded that the name "Pan" is Greek for "all". So the great god Pan is "all of divinity". I like that thought as all gods are one god and all goddesses are one goddess and the two are All that is.
They had a hard job converting some to Christianity, especially those Countries with strong Pagan Rites, as is my country, England. So the best P.R job happened." Lets say that Jesus was born around the time of the Winter Solstice, and their Easter Fertility Rites was when he was reborn again"....... Very clever.
To all that celebrated the Winter Solstice last Eve, I bless you thrice round :)
Wonderful video. I knew nothing of Yule until now (18 years old). I am an Atheist who was merely interested when I heard that Christians basically ransacked a pagan holiday.
I'm semi pagan/wiccan. I def celebrate yule (in my heart as I can't express it around my family) rather than christmas, and I def respect nature more than commercialized "traditions" I hear any "reason for the season" crap and I give them a lesson on what makes it winter time, when jesus was born, and yule tradition.
Thank you for this, and thank you for blocking the haters. I often love a good debate, and sometimes I love to go after the trolls like a pitbull, but it's nice now and then, to just enjoy the holiday spirit, especially Yule, without having to defend it, or even explain it. To just celebrate with ones real peers. I love the music and the imagery. Blessed Be!
Yeah, the origins have really been perverted. the Swedish name for santa claus in "Jultomte" and a "tomte" is an an elf, so santa claus the way we say it, in meaning has very different connotations from the commercialized view. THere are loads of books read to kids of these elfs, living in natral objects and helping humans with various tasks and we should respect them and be kind to them if we see them.
@mandohiker Hi there the track used here is by Damh the Bard titled Noon of the Solstice. It's from his third album Spirt of Albion which was relised in 2006 and he is a fantastic bloke!
In my country, Ireland, the traditional midwinter festival is known as Lá an Dreoilín, or Wren's Day but is celebrated on December 26. It involves hunting a fake wren and putting it on top of a pole and the wren boys dressed up in straw parade through the town. It's an odd festival and only celebrated in very rural areas in the west of the country. It became Christianised and is known as St. Stephen's Day which is akin to Boxing Day in Britain.
very nice! this will be put on my playlist this solstice, thank you! me and my children will be dressing the pine trees out side with popcorn for the winter folk who have to battle the elements. the chickadees especialy enjoy this! a candle will be lit,and a fire as well to remind the sun God to return, and of coarse ale will be left out for the wee folk!!! happy yule to all :)

@metallicatampamagnet I'm very sorry. :( Satan is actually a concept that arose out of Islamic/Jewish/Christian beliefs. So, any actual Satanists who might be out there are twisting those religions, and are not related in any way to real Pagan and Wiccan faiths. We were celebrating our holy days (including Yule) several thousand years before Christ was born. I hope that you will be able to practice your faith in your own way until you can get your own place. Would it be possible to ascribe the time of year for the 8 festivals depicted at the 3:58 mark for the unfamiliar?
I'm gathering Yule is around 12/21, Imbold, I believe is Spring and around Feb. 1, Ostur is like Easter, yes? and around the equinox? Beltane is May 1st? Midsummer is the Summer Solstice? Lugh must be around 6 weeks later, akin to Tammuz and fall? I can't read the 7th festival but I'm guessing it's in between Lugh and Samhain? I understand Samhain is winter? around Nov 1?
@jimbojamesIV Humanities Original Holidays should be recognised and celabrated the original way. Not the way that the media tries to convince us that it is. Keep looking and you'll find the answers you are seraching for. I could give you a link to get you started in the right direction if you would like. We are coming up on Beltane (Pronounced "B'yal-t'n") on April 30th. I love Beltane.
As one who identifies as Christian I want to apologize for any attacks, trollings or other negative comments made. They do not speak for us all.
When all is said an done, we are all one in spirit, and that is more important than how we have chosen or been raised to identify that spirit. May we all share the joy of the holidays, even if that means sharing and learning of holidays that are not strictly our own.

Have a Blessed Solstice

Yes, indeedy ... Yule is the REAL reason for the season!
@Paganboynuneaton Thank you so much for posting this!!! I am always looking for uplifting music to play for my son, especially during this season. Blessed be to you and yours and Happy Yule!
Well said, I am a Witch/Wiccan/Pagan, my hubby is a new age pagan spiritualist. I love your posts. Thank you. Blessed Be, Jacquelette Marquiette (High Priestess) (FaceBook Name)
Just to point out, the Celts in Britain didn't celebrate Yule. Yule was German, their name for December. It wasn't specific to December 25 until 800 AD, when the festivities were set then as part of Christmas. The British Celts and German Saxons didn't share common festivals or religion. The only thing they agreed on was their mutual hostility.
Thats very true about the christians basing their holidays on pagan ones. They wanted to get rid of samhaim but it didn't happen thank the gods and goddesses. They actually made november 1 all saints day for that reason imagine what we would know if they didnt destroy all of our history so much of it was brought to us by word of mouth and traditions. I am not bashing any religion but its fact. I respect every religion and people should respect ours...merry part
I love these kinds of musical slides :) They are great for the holiday. I do feel an upset that Christians have mean things to say about something so merry. But after all they have been cosistantly intolerant and aggressive for a very long time now so Im in no way shocked. I hope you continue to make your slides of merry music and blessings :)
Just al ittle message - I keep getting comments from different sections of the "Christian community & l aways block them and remove the comments - in our path we are tolerant of others but it realy comes to light just how ignorant these people are. Yes in on of my videos i have a picture saying 'Keep Britain pagan' that is my personal opinion as in the UK there is not enough out spoken openness not like the USA. Please if you are Christian and want to comment here & its negative ..DON'T.......
@Paganboynuneaton Hi, just want to say I love your videos. And in response to your message, I agree with you to say "keep Britain pagan" because it is hard not having enough support from the pagan community especially if they are still in "the broom closet." I am a Pagan from the USA and it is true that we have more openness at times but we still need to work for it. I do my part by being the president of the Pagans club at my university. Spending knowledge and truth
@Paganboynuneaton (cont) about the Pagan faith. Keep up the great work. I always wanted to visit England. Hope the upcoming Holiday and days of celebration are a joyous one.
@Paganboynuneaton I know a lot of Christians can be really offensive when it comes to pagans, but I promise, they are NOT all like that! I go to a Unitarian Universalist church, and we had a concert for Samhain. There are friendly Christians out there!
@steelplatedheart Blessings...You would be welcome around the hearth of many a pagen gathering i'm sure but sadly you are few and far between in my experience.

YULE = The REAL reason For The Season !
cheapcape 1 year ago 29

Nell2999 1 year ago 2
@Paganboynuneaton Hi, just want to say I love your videos. And in response to your message, I agree with you to say "keep Britain pagan" because it is hard not having enough support from the pagan community especially if they are still in "the broom closet." I am a Pagan from the USA and it is true that we have more openness at times but we still need to work for it. I do my part by being the president of the Pagans club at my university. Spending knowledge and truth

@Paganboynuneaton I know a lot of Christians can be really offensive when it comes to pagans, but I promise, they are NOT all like that! I go to a Unitarian Universalist church, and we had a concert for Samhain. There are friendly Christians out there!
