@therealplease I listed this saber on ebay. The auction ends tomorrow. Just do a search for Qui-Gon Jinn Crystal Focus lightsaber and you'll find it there. Thanks.
From the sounds in this video, Blackstar and Ep VI would fit a Vader lightsaber best. Please note, Blackstar is actually the second sound in the video, not the first one. The names that were programmed got mixed up between Novastar and Blackstar. Blackstar is the sound that starts at 1:30. Ep VI is actually mainly Vader saber sounds from ROTJ.
There's currently a run of 100% accurate Qui-Gon Jinn lightsabers (even more accurate than this one) being offered on the Fx-Sabers forum. Only a few spots remain. If you're interested, register on the site and sign up for one. These will also include a CF sound board and a blade like the one in this vid, but will be of even higher quality and be accurate to the prop. They're expensive, but worth it if you're looking for a totally accurate, working Qui-Gon saber.
There's currently a very limited run of 100% accurate Qui-Gon Jinn lightsabers being offered on the Fx-Sabers forum, complete with the same amazing light and sounds in this saber, but in a saber that's even more accurate to the prop. Spots are almost filled though, so hurry if you're interested.
Oh and for some reason JQSabers seems to have dissappeared. I'm not the only one though, I asked a buddy on Facebook to check it out for me and its gone for him too. Like I go to any page of their store and I get the 401 error thing or whatever error it is. So I don't think I'll be able to get a CF saber from them. Oh well, getting a Petit Crouton saber is alot easier anyway.
@jedimastergarcia87 Their site is down temporarily, they made an announcement about it a few days ago on the Fx-Sabers forum: "Our site is down for some up-dates and security work, we hope to have it back up soon."
Cool. Yeah, they come with complete CF sabers. Mostly the character based ones. I think some of their customs comes with CF as well. I mostly want the Episode 1 and some of the classic fonts as well as the Novastar font. Or if I get the Luke Classic saber then Episode 4 font as the main font, Episode 5, and a few others. Like I said I think they sell the completed CF sabers for 700 bucks depending on which one you get. Not really bad for a completed CF saber.
Last I heard JQ was offering 700 bucks which isn't bad for a CF lightsaber but I think their store is down right now, for me anyway. I can have the lightsaber by June or July I think. Can you request different soundfonts though? Like what would be the best soundfonts for a Qui-gon-jinn lightsaber? I might also get their Classic Luke lightsaber too, looks awesome. so It will be between the Qui-gon-jinn and Classic Luke lightsabers. But either way can you request different soundfonts?
@jedimastergarcia87 As long as they have Novastar's sound compendium CDs, they should be able to put on the fonts you want, but I'm not sure on that, as I never purchased a completed CF saber from them, just kits (hilt + CF). Jedi fonts work well with a Qui-Gon saber, such as Novastar, Episode IV, Episode V, etc - since there is no specific QGJ sound font. There are 3 CDs from Nova, so you've got many many other choices to choose from.
How much mostly for a CF built Qui-gon lightsaber? I got my job now and I might save up for a CF built Qui-gon. Are the JQSabers CF built Qui-gons any good? I'm thinking of getting one of those since they automatically come with CF. Thanks for the info. Nice saber by the way.
@jedimastergarcia87 Depends on the seller, but any saber with a CF will run you at least $900 I'd say. Since Qui-Gons are popular and rare, it will probably be more most likely. The JQ Qui-Gon is the best version ever made in my opinion, so if you can get one with a CF from them, you definitely should go for it - I highly recommend it. Best of luck.
Yes everyone knows lightsabers aren't real and that these don't actually have a white core like in the movies. Also, the comment about the blade looking like it does at 0:30 is not accurate. The blade isn't that dull IRL. You will never truly capture the way the blade looks with a camera, either through photo or video. This particular saber is still amazingly bright in person; not as dull as it appears in some parts of the vid.
There's a difference between thinking it's a real lightsaber and thinking that it almost looks like a real one, indeed. And the comment about the "dull looking blade" as you named was more to point out an example that is closer to the real looking thing, it is just to prefent people to expect a whitecore-saber when they purchase one.
they havnt come out with Qui-Gon-Jinn Fx lightsabers. this is a custom built lightsaber. and i think adding music and commentary on lightsabers are pointless but thts just me
Register on the Fx-Sabers forum. Both of them are members there. There are many, other sabersmiths there as well who will build exactly what you want. A Vader saber in this style can indeed be made.
@choezkevin Yes and no. Luxeon-based lightsabers have one super-bright LED at the top of the hilt, and a hollow plastic blade - usually something tough, like polycarbonate plastic. While it is possible to break the blade if you do a lot of really heavy dueling, for most folks a blade will last a long time. That being said, it's also possible for a lightsaber's internal electronics to get damaged - I just recently did a complete reworking of one of my lightsaber's wiring for just that reason.
CF boards are sold on the plecterlabs web site every now and then, but they sell out within minutes, if not seconds, everytime. Just keep checking that site to see if any are back in stock. The current version being made is the V5. The maker of the boards is in France. He will be selling another batch of boards this spring/summer. You can also buy CF boards on the secondary market, but they usually end up costing much more.
To get one made, register on the Fx-Sabers forum and talk to one of the sabersmiths there about getting one built. The guy who made this saber is also a member of that forum.
Qui-Gon's and Obi-wan's episode 1 lightsabers are the only one who has a decent handles assuming majority of them are used two handed (also even one handed you still want to be able to comfortably grip it with your 2nd hand) so Props to this vid, wish they sold FX ones that you didn't have to custom make or find someone else to make.
Yep, but only as a custom; still no mass-produced Qui-Gon FX at this time. But there are many ways to get a working QG saber these days. You can have one totally custom made like this one, or you can have a Larbel or Parks hilt converted with light and sound.
I've got a Master FX construction kit (amongst others) and while the green blade just isn't in this league, its still decent enough and has 3 colours in total.
All I need to do is construct a hilt like yours and I'm away. The fools at Master replicas made the bloody hilts plastic, damn idiots.
@russianstud Of course the qui gon jinn exists lots of saber smiths make them you should check out my qui gon saber on my youtube page its a EXTREMLY rare limitem edition qui gon its gold and silver :)
Qui-gon's lightsaber is my favourite one. By the way I would like to ask You about a luxeon V. I know its one of the brightest leds, but how visible is it during a sunny day? And at the tip of the blade? I'd be thankful for answerign cuz I am considering buying a lux V green saber.
I've never taken this saber out in the daylight, but I'm guessing it would look much nicer than the less bright green LEDs. Of course, if you put any saber in direct sunlight, the light won't be really visible anymore. Same with the blade tip. There are different types of blades as well as blade tips - so that will also determine how a blade looks outside in the day time.
No, not a mass-produced FX, and not made by any one company. This is totally custom made - everything from the hilt to the sound board. See my prior posts here for more details on how to get one.
This is a totally custom saber, so it's not one you'd buy ready made. There are numerous smiths and machinists who can make you one. My hilt was machined my DoClo of the Fx-Sabers forums. The metal shroud and electronics install was by JudgeSabersmith, who isn't working on sabers anymore at this time. You'll also need a CF sound board to get these sounds. The sounds heard in this video were made by the awesome Novastar.
all theese crystal focus sabers have a very weird sound. Dosent sounds as a real saber. More like some propeller airplaine or something. But nice saber other then that.
That's funny, since most all of the sound fonts that I've created utilize sounds made by Ben Burtt... the maker of all the "lightsaber" sounds from the films.
In order to access the menu and change the sounds, you have to power down first. That's why I kept turning it on and off.
Thanks.
Also, guys I didn't make this saber. Please see the video description as well as the past comments. You'll get all the answers there regarding where the saber came from.
Lux V LEDs don't fry ALL sound boards. Just the ones that aren't strong enough to run them, such as a toy Hasbro board or (generally) an MR FX board.
The Crystal Focus will run a Lux V with no problem whatsoever - which this video shows. Heck, the LED in this saber is acually OVERdriven, so it's even brighter.
Yeah I use it to cut through steel doors and slice cars in half all the time. The burn marks all over my walls from my battles are pretty annoying (and costly), though - so that's one of the disadvantages.
hahahaha. awsome response. very good question digiman.
although my dad had one of the same sabers, it was august, he just wanted some milk form the pasture....he lost his foot in the battle....im sorry....its just hard to relive that.
You can probably get the actual hilt and metal shroud done for around $200, I would say. The only person who comes to mind as far as machining one would be DoClo (Darth Technous on Fx-Sabers). Register on the forum there, where I'm a Moderator, and send him a message. Also, unless you've got experience wiring a CF, I would just have the sabersmith install it in the saber.
How do I do something like this? I"m wanting a Qui-gon saber made as well but I don't want to keep switching from site to site ya know. How much would it cost to just have the hilt made with the electronics and could I just install the CF myself? Anyway, nice saber. Qui-gon is also one of my fav jedis. I might do an Obi-wan Episode 3 saber though.
Yeah I got the fx lightsaber construction kit. But man yours sounds awsome, looks awsome! I can't belive you built that! I could never do that!!! And it has really cool sound effects! Did you make any more?
Thanks man, but I'm not the one who built this saber. This is the combined effort of DoClo, who machined the hilt, and Judgesabersmith, who did the shroud work and electronics install. DoClo can be reached on the Fx-Sabers forum - he goes by Darth Technous there. Judge isn't taking on any commissioned projects atm, I believe.
Thanks. The sound font is called "Novastar," which is a mix of Jedi sounds. "Blackstar" has Sith-like sounds. All the sounds you hear were made by Novastar (yep, it's also a person :) )
But actually, the font names of those two are mixed up in this video. The first sounds you hear are actually "Novastar," and the second sound set is "Blackstar."
This saber is definitely FAR from an FX. This is totally custom. I wish the FXs sounded like this. :)
Hey, this isn't the dude who made the videos but I can possible answer your question. There are some kinda like that called an fx lightsaber. They cost around $75.00 to $100.00 or more! I'm getting the star wars fx lightsaber construction kit and that was (On ebay) about $75.00 but if you want replicas then they USUALLY cost more. But if you get the kit you can make 1. Anakin's saber 2. Luke's and 3. Darth vader's lightsaber PLUSE your own customized lightsaber! hope i helped you!
nice. qui-gon-jin was one of my favorite characters from episode I. when i go to do-clo, whatever his name is, can i just request a gui-gon saber be made with sound if possible? thanks for the help!
Marriagison, since this is a luxeon saber, you can indeed duel with it. All you really need is a good blade and you're good to go. The blade you see in the video is a nylon, which is primarily for show.
Price varies due to several factors. The CF sound board is the toughest part to get. It costs about $180 if you buy it directly from plecterlabs. It's currently sold out, though. It shows up on the secondary market sometimes, but almost always goes for much more there. The remaining cost of the saber will be the making of a Qui-Gon hilt by a sabersmith, all the other electronics, and the installation of the parts in the hilt by the smith. Figure that to be at least $200, but probably more.
the metal one broke so i made another one the silver parts are now metal and the black parts are now rubber i havent put in my crystal focus 2.0 yet so its just light for now
My pleasure--the only thing I can ask is to credit me in the video (annotations?) regarding the sounds and let people know about 'em! :)
Also--I'd be more than happy to guide you on how to "fix" the font names... also, I noticed the menu background doesn't match/blend with the names, and that can be fixed as well. If you have my sound compendium CD (you should), it should be a snap. :)
Great saber, Liquid! Hope you're enjoying the fonts in there... you should know that the very first sound font is my "Novastar" font, and the second you demo is actually "Blackstar", hehhehe :)
Damn that's cool, did you make the hilt yourself? I've been looking for a Qui Gonn lightsaber for a long time.

strange when you choose nova star the sounds sound like black star and black star sounds were sounding like nova star
stephaniedee41 2 years ago
You're right, the menu selections and the sounds were mixed up for those two fonts here. :)

how much and where do i pay? im seriuios i want one. I cant find it anywhere though. thst thing is awsom
sitruc3000 2 years ago
This is a totally custom saber, so it's not one you'd buy ready made. There are numerous smiths and machinists who can make you one. My hilt was machined my DoClo of the Fx-Sabers forums. The metal shroud and electronics install was by JudgeSabersmith, who isn't working on sabers anymore at this time. You'll also need a CF sound board to get these sounds. The sounds heard in this video were made by the awesome Novastar.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
are you able to take off the blade

Yep, the blade is removeable.

shame it doesnt have the deep grooves in it
otherwise nice saber
steveothehulk 2 years ago
all theese crystal focus sabers have a very weird sound. Dosent sounds as a real saber. More like some propeller airplaine or something. But nice saber other then that.
blackpanter12345678 2 years ago
That's funny, since most all of the sound fonts that I've created utilize sounds made by Ben Burtt... the maker of all the "lightsaber" sounds from the films.
Nice try, though.

Very nice! Good job.
DELIMAN195 2 years ago
It doesn't heat up.
In order to access the menu and change the sounds, you have to power down first. That's why I kept turning it on and off.
Thanks.
Also, guys I didn't make this saber. Please see the video description as well as the past comments. You'll get all the answers there regarding where the saber came from.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
does the metal heat up when you turn it on because in the video you kept turning on and off.
if they were to sell this in shops id buy it and who ever sold it would be rich within weeks.
CaptJoeK 2 years ago
hiya, i was wondering how much would it be to buy one of these from you because im no good with electronics.

Cool! Where did you by this?!

LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
don't lux v's fry sound boards????
JediKnight543 2 years ago
Is it real?
Yeah I use it to cut through steel doors and slice cars in half all the time. The burn marks all over my walls from my battles are pretty annoying (and costly), though - so that's one of the disadvantages.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
hahahaha. awsome response. very good question digiman.
although my dad had one of the same sabers, it was august, he just wanted some milk form the pasture....he lost his foot in the battle....im sorry....its just hard to relive that.
hahaha

is it real
DigiMan1031 2 years ago
You can probably get the actual hilt and metal shroud done for around $200, I would say. The only person who comes to mind as far as machining one would be DoClo (Darth Technous on Fx-Sabers). Register on the forum there, where I'm a Moderator, and send him a message. Also, unless you've got experience wiring a CF, I would just have the sabersmith install it in the saber.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
How do I do something like this? I"m wanting a Qui-gon saber made as well but I don't want to keep switching from site to site ya know. How much would it cost to just have the hilt made with the electronics and could I just install the CF myself? Anyway, nice saber. Qui-gon is also one of my fav jedis. I might do an Obi-wan Episode 3 saber though.
jedimastergarcia87 2 years ago
hey, that'll be cool! Can't wait!
liapryce 2 years ago
Well, It's still cool! And I've never seen a lightsaber like that! So thank you for making a review type thing!
liapryce 2 years ago
No prob, I enjoyed doing these things.
I'll be posting another video soon of another lightsaber with similar sound effects. That'll be Luke's saber from The Empire Strikes Back.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
Yeah I got the fx lightsaber construction kit. But man yours sounds awsome, looks awsome! I can't belive you built that! I could never do that!!! And it has really cool sound effects! Did you make any more?
liapryce 2 years ago
Thanks man, but I'm not the one who built this saber. This is the combined effort of DoClo, who machined the hilt, and Judgesabersmith, who did the shroud work and electronics install. DoClo can be reached on the Fx-Sabers forum - he goes by Darth Technous there. Judge isn't taking on any commissioned projects atm, I believe.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
Hey whats the lightsaber saying? Noba star? or death star? But anyways great video! It's not a fx lightsaber is it?
liapryce 2 years ago
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
2 questions. Where did u get it and how much does it cost??? Please Answer.
meissoawesome3 2 years ago
This is selfmade, when you don't want to fight with the saber you could also buy an Hasbro FX sword (not the plastic ones).
Mentor501 2 years ago
or get an ultra fx and fight with it and it looks better and has sounds.
SilentBob420BMFJ 2 years ago
Perhaps in your dreams.
The Haspro FX are the Master Replicas swords under a new Puplisher(Hasbro).
The Ultrasabers are only modified MR/Haspro FX swords with one instead 64 LEDs and they have exactly the same soundboard like the original once.
Also the Ultrasabers aren't as bright as a Hyperdyne or selfmade Plecter Labs.
Also a selfmade sword can have a grip like the real sabers.
A and btw., compared with the Plecter Labs soundboard of this one the Ultrasabers sounds bad.
Mentor501 2 years ago
Hey, this isn't the dude who made the videos but I can possible answer your question. There are some kinda like that called an fx lightsaber. They cost around $75.00 to $100.00 or more! I'm getting the star wars fx lightsaber construction kit and that was (On ebay) about $75.00 but if you want replicas then they USUALLY cost more. But if you get the kit you can make 1. Anakin's saber 2. Luke's and 3. Darth vader's lightsaber PLUSE your own customized lightsaber! hope i helped you!
liapryce 2 years ago
See the video description, as well as my past posts here. That'll tell you where the saber came from.

nice. qui-gon-jin was one of my favorite characters from episode I. when i go to do-clo, whatever his name is, can i just request a gui-gon saber be made with sound if possible? thanks for the help!
jedimastergarcia87 2 years ago 2
Yep, as long as you've got a CF sound board to send to him, that's all you pretty much have to do.
LiquidMetal111 2 years ago
Marriagison, since this is a luxeon saber, you can indeed duel with it. All you really need is a good blade and you're good to go. The blade you see in the video is a nylon, which is primarily for show.
LiquidMetal111 3 years ago
How much would something like that set me back if I wanted it?
ConnellxSilverfur 3 years ago
Price varies due to several factors. The CF sound board is the toughest part to get. It costs about $180 if you buy it directly from plecterlabs. It's currently sold out, though. It shows up on the secondary market sometimes, but almost always goes for much more there. The remaining cost of the saber will be the making of a Qui-Gon hilt by a sabersmith, all the other electronics, and the installation of the parts in the hilt by the smith. Figure that to be at least $200, but probably more.
LiquidMetal111 3 years ago
That is one incredible looking saber, I have several MR sabers and they dont even come close. Is it robust enough for duelling?

Thanks Nova. :)
Yeah I'm wondering how that mix up with the font names occurred.
I'm most definitely enjoying the fonts. :) Novastar and Blackstar are two of my alltime personal faves.
Thank you for giving us such killer-sounding fonts. Rock on man!
LiquidMetal111 3 years ago
My pleasure--the only thing I can ask is to credit me in the video (annotations?) regarding the sounds and let people know about 'em! :)
Also--I'd be more than happy to guide you on how to "fix" the font names... also, I noticed the menu background doesn't match/blend with the names, and that can be fixed as well. If you have my sound compendium CD (you should), it should be a snap. :)
greytale 3 years ago
Great saber, Liquid! Hope you're enjoying the fonts in there... you should know that the very first sound font is my "Novastar" font, and the second you demo is actually "Blackstar", hehhehe :)

awesome saber,
I'm really proud one of my sound board is in there ?
did you machine the saber or commissioned someone ?
Erv' Plecter
irvinplecter 3 years ago
Hey Erv, thanks a lot. :) Without your absolutely spectacular sound board, this saber wouldn't have turned out as awesome as it did.
The saber was commissioned from Judgesabersmith. The hilt was machined by Don (DoClo), and everything else was done by Jon - including the shroud. :)
Thank you again for giving us the greatest sound board on the planet. :)
Rock on!
