I had all of them and hey were indeed awesome- a great counterpart to Garbage Pail kids (obvously their inspiration). I used to buy the cheap plastic imitations and hang them from my ceiling.

Series 2: Snake Bait, Splitting Headache, Wolf Breath, Bruise Brother, Fist Face, and three others. I used to be able to name them in the same order as the ad.

Sports: Foul Shot, Goal Eater, Touchdown Terror

The cartoon made series 2 the bad guys. The comic book had all of them as good guys, and the bad guys were the mad scientist and his henchman who made them.

The one with the exposed brain was originally called Crack Head, but they changed it to Bash Brain because of drug connotations. Unfortunately, they molded the names to the figures and never changed the mold. ;)

Hey, awesome. I still have one of my Madballs in a drawer at my parents' place. I had the "mummy" one you see in this commercial, but this one back home is pretty cool. He's called "Skullgore" if I remember correctly. Amazing these things were actually promoted and I and others remember them so many years later. I mean...they were just foam / rubber balls. No big deal, really.  Commercials back then really did work, though, damn.
