  • Check out how my master bonce and toss me arround on Gary lam Taiji. The second clip have some demo

  • Yes he is in nei gong level and that is Taiji bible talk about ejecting energy like a string through 9 ball. Imagine 9 ball connect together with one string. Every one can move but the others move together with it. One in the other one out. But string freely connect and direct all ball

  • So he has the ability to move his dantian any place he chooses? Is his dantian more physical or energetic? Did he develop his dantian through compression breathing exercises? Im just curious, because from the looks of it he may very well be at "Level 3 in Nei-Kung". If somebody can give me some answers I would really appreciate it alot!

  • Why is the woman stomping her foot so purspoefully and dramatically. Effect? to dispell the Chi? It alwasy looks so contrived.

  • you can tell a minute movement- tiny fajin- as the master sends his qi through her. the thing about taiji is that its not big nor fancy movements merely tiny miniscule spirals which delivers the power. basically the better the fajin, the smaller the movement but bigger the resulting qi

  • Master Liu Ji Fa will also be going to the US in September 2008 to teach some seminars on push hands and Wu style basics and push hands patterns.

See our Double Dragon Alliance website for more information.

  • Another important reason why people stamp their foot is to show that they've "heard" the other person's incoming force; they've sensed that at that point they were a bit off balance or the other person could have struck them.

In push hands there's also a lot of 'manners' that let people play together without the need for proving they can win or throw someone else around.

  • I doubt that she knows that.

  • I've seen high level masters push with somebody who's not as high level as them still listen to the other's jing and demonstrate that they've 'felt' their strike or energy.

Sometimes it's just good manners to let other people demonstrate their skills, whether they're better than others or not.

In Chinese they call it having a large or generous spirit.

Master Liu definately does as do many others I've met in China.

  • Master Liu is using the inhalation and exhalation of the air in the lungs with manipulation from the dantian to release the energy, not physically push with the arms.

  • Don't be silly, you don't need to stamp your feet. It is nothing more than a simple physical push from the chest. This lady must be very week physicaly & mentaly to let that upset her. It's just a simple little physical push.

  • It's about listening and sensing energy.

Of course these small issues of energy are not enough to knock someone to the ground, but if you wish to train sensitivity and be able to dissipate a real attack then you have to train your own ability to be able to ground their incoming energy. This is one important way to train sensitivity 'ting jing'.

  • Most people don't understand, REAL Taiji is a Dim Mak striking art, what use is what he's doing in a real fight? None! Real Fajin comes from the spine (back) NOT the chest. How do you ground a jab to the eye or punch to the throat. When did you ever see anyone attacked by someone just standing there holding their chest? Supreme Ultimate Boxing!? What nonsense.

  • you don't really understand internal arts do you? You should be able to project energy from any part of the body. Master Liu Ji Fa is demonstrating this principle through his chest. Of course this has use, as in a punch or strike to the chest cavity, the recipient could have his wrist broken this way. As for the comment about jabs to the eyes etc, it has no relevance to this , he's not demonstrating a street fight is he?. You should understand what you talking about before passing judgment.

  • He is NOT projecting energy, he is bracing himself on his back foot & pushing with his chest, a physical movement only. You can NOT move someone away like this using Qi projection, ONLY by physicaly pushing them. People DON'T punch to the chest, they punch to the face! Let's see him do it with his face!? Taijiquan is a FIGHTING art, let's see him fight with it, otherwise it's not Taijiquan - Supreme Ultimate FIST! (fighting art)!

  • You can die from a strike to the chest, so if your art only attacks the face then it's lacking a huge amount options and would be very predictable. Out of interest, what art do you practice?

  • I didn't say my art only attacks the face.

I teach original Yang Cheng-fu form (not government, sports commission or otherwise watered down versions, original old Yang Lu-chan form & complete martial/healing system & original Chang San-feng Wudang internal system from where all other Chinese internal martial/healing systems originate from.

  • Would you by any chance be from the wtba school as I also practice Old Yang style, so I'm very aware of the combat application of taiji. I don't mean to sound off about this and I'm sure everyone has a different point of view, but do you not practice various training methods that aren't directly related to combat, but install the right reactions etc?

  • Taijiquan is a combat art, if ur trying to install the right reactions for this purpose then they are directly related. If ur talking of 'Push Hands' this is also a combat training method so if ur 'PHs' is not directly applicable to combat it's not real TJQ PHs. Most 'Tai Chi' people like to 'play the game' of PHs, this type of PHs has zero real life combat use. U must realize that most of these so called masters r not fighters & will only ever demonstrate with people who 'play the game'

  • If u want to 'play the game' that's fine, just don't call it TJQ - Supreme Ultimate Fist. If u'v ever been in real fights u know people strike to the head. Practicing to break someones wrist IF they should punch to the chest is a nonsense idea. For 1 thing, in a fast/vicious fight u will never distinguish a punch to the face/throat from 1 to the chest, ur talking centimeters, better use TJQ principles & practice not getting hit in the first place.

  • firstly, linguistical idiocies misguided the translation of taijiquan. taiji actualy refer to the taoist idea of Yin&Yang; in the begining was nothing(wuji) from wuji spawned taiji('something') which seperate into Yin&Yang. it is incorect & misleading to entitle it supreme ultimate fist as its meanin is much diferent.

2nd this is only demonstrate issue som internal energy. peng lu ji an tsai lieh zhou kao- these are 8 basic 'gateways'

  • So from your meaning of Taiji ("something") you think its called Something Fist. Doh! Taiji here actually refers to a fighting method which contains both extremes of yin & yang in all its complexities, a fighting method that is all inclusive. Taiji is actually 2 words meaning myriad things or everything in existance - past, present & future.

  • first must be able to fill+expand w/ energy+finally use any part of body to transmit energy in an instant. even greater masters hav this down instinctively so as to repel any atak w/o even knowing- but obviously u must 1st hav these basics down & be able issue force properly. while i agree that taiji &PH has combat use, do not become so overwhelmed by mere fighting that u dont comprehend the marvels beyond that transcend all

  • Last few places left at this year's Double Dragon Alliance martial arts training camp in Shanghai 6th October - 14th October 2007.

Please check out our Double Dragon Alliance website or contact Rose Oliver for details.

Welcome to Shanghai and come and meet Master Liu for yourself!

  • This is to ground you after being struck/pushed, to dissipate their force. Without this you are often likely to be knocked to the ground/fall over from their attack/fajing.

It also recentres you so that you can recover immediately to reagin your balance and be able to deliver an attack/strike yourself. Otherwise you lose vital time in trying to regain your centre/balance and cannot strike, which lets the opponent continue their attack on you.

  • why is she stamping her foot after being pushed? is it a root??

  • It is to dispell his energy into the ground instead of hodling it in the body which may cause health problems if there is resistance from a low level cultivator of Qi Gong.
