Ya ,I've noticed the JVC name isn't what it used to be. Now it's junk, and you get no tec support, the sales men lie through there teeth to get you to buy it. Then try to charge you money to find out about it . VERY DISSAPOINTED.!!! Better to buy from someone else.

I just purchased the JVC HD Everio GZ-HM30 camera, and I was wondering if I will be able to hook this camera up to my lap top, the brand is compaq with window 7 xp, anyway, I was wondering if i can hook this camera to my lap top while I am recording myself so I can see myself in a bigger screen instead of looking the the little window it comes with, is there anyway to do this with the USB plug, what other step do I need to take, please help, thank you so much I really appreciate it.

You're better off with a camcorder that has internal flash memory. Hard Drive camcorders are okay, but are more susceptible to damage if you accidentally drop it.

Great camera. the only thing I dont like is the touch scroll bar, you can touch it accidentaly while holding the camera, I dont know if that opens any menu while shooting. Does it? Anyway. Why use neon bulbs? You can adjust the WB. And use white incandescent bulbs. But the neons are good to.

I have this camcorder and personally I didn't like it very much. It doesn't shoot HD, and before you try to burn to DVD from a computer you have to convert the files so Windows movie maker or other programs can read the files. The customer support is very bad for this as well. I would not recommend this camera at all. Plus it was expensive. I got the 30GB for $1,000.

is there a way to change the light settings on it (like on a digital SLR camera)? you shouldnt have to buy special bulbs for it to adjust properly, it should do that on its own or have light/ISO/F stop settings to take care of that

There also is the JVC GZ-HM320 which is the lower model priced at $300 if u shop around the only drawback is that this model only has 20X optical zoom vs 35X optic zoom

These camcorder (JVC) are not the Best ! Right now I am having problems finding a Christmas video that should be there! I see every other video except this one. This cam also doesn't show well when it zooms out, it's sorta fuzzy and takes a while to clear up or in some cases doesn't clear up at all. But it is cute and have a bit more features than the sonic but if I knew I would get the sonic.

"upload" but while the cam is plugged into my drive i go into the file under my computer and view the files then i pull those into a editing program then edit and publish. you have to do it all while its plugged in though if ya do it that way cus if you unplug youll lose everything.

A picture is worth a thousand words... you don't have to take a minute to describe the size when you show us how big it is. I would recommend getting to reviewing the actual specifications of the camera quicker (you took at least 2 minutes just to get to the specifications)
