  • Is this available on any releases? AWESOME tune!

  • @iTzRevolt it's part of walking on hot coals from the irish tour. the audio at least is found on the irish tour CD

  • This is something that is nothing short of amazing! To think that this piece was all improvised just knocks me out! Very seductive!

  • Rod De'Ath - Drums!

  • Rod De'Ath - Drums !

  • Only Rory could work the audience into a frenzy, with his incredible musical talent and charisma, with a beat-up guitar, blue jeans, and a plaid shirt, (his trademark).

Then, insisting only to play at modest venues, creating a rabid following, far eclipsing the Grateful Dead cultists, drawing from all over the globe, and selling well over 36 million albums.

    Not bad, heh?

  • when jimi hendrix was asked "how does it feel to be the greatest guitarist in the world?" he replied "i don't know, ask rory gallagher!"

  • drums..rod dearch...or sommeting:::

  • The guy was a freakin' genius with a guitar in his hands..... I had the double LP of this when I was a younger man and burned the grooves off that sucker with my guitar in hand trying to figure out just how he did that shit. All these years later and I'm still tryin'......

  • @LedHeadTillDeath hahahahaha this is true

  • mpravo re file!!!!!!

  • help but feel this title is misleading, only in the sense that if you want to see killer improv from rory, just watch ANY solo from one of his live shows. fantastic player. I never switch rory off before the end of a song, its like someone pouring their heart out to you and telling them to shut up mid sentence. at 18 i'm too young to remember rory, but i still miss him. its sad that i never got to hear such great talent, and i never will.

  • All I can say is Oh My God. This is God on earth with a Stratocaster. There is just nothing else I can say This is on my Irish Tour .74 Album.

  • All I can say is Oh My God. This is God on earth with a Stratocaster. There is just nothing else I can say

  • He wasn't mindlessly running up and down scales unlike a lot of guitarists who get more acclaim than him. He heard every note in his head before he played it. What a fucking hero.

  • Velubyy ,RORY 101 stars ;}

  • Is it just me or ...? Does anyone else think Rory resembles a youthful Clint Eastwood in these old films?

  • As somebody said this is ''walk on hot coals'' around the 6th minute mark or so (ie 2nd solo) this is a documentary video of it. The Madrid version of this song is pretty good too cept not great quality

    lineup

    Rory Gallagher-guitarist singer

    Gerry McEvoy-Bassist (head bopper)

Rod De Ath- Drummer & supposedly a very good drummer at that

    Lou Martin-Keyboardist (insanely underrated player)

  • Drummer's name is Rod de'Ath

  • its improvisation on Walk on hot coals ... makes easier for those who search it ;) ;) ..

    P.S.

    RORY WE LOVE YOU

  • No gimmicky glitz and glamor here folks. None of that nonsense.

It's all about the guitar, plain, in raw passion.

And who presents it better than Rory?

    Nobody.

  • He believed in every note he played.

  • LOU MARTIN is the key boardist!!!!!!

  • I'm not gay. but I loved Rory. An absolute master.

  • is this not from walk on hot coals?

  • do not look, L I S T E N !

  • @schawill Rory died 15 years ago.

  • don't look, HEAR!

  • Can anyone tell me what happend to Rory?

    thx for posting

    Rory R.I.P.

  • The drummer has the coolest look ever!

  • @ChoirWalker I like Rory's look better. The drummer is kickass

  • Rory Gallagher - Lead Guitar, vocals

    Gerry McAvoy - Bass

    Lou Martin - Keyboards

    Rod De'Ath - Drums

  • Clapton loved this guy.

  • @Snotra did anoyone not?

  • So great. Ireland was being overrun with awful wannabe Country and Western acts at that time. For many, Big Tom was about as heavy or deep as things got. Rory Gallagher blazed a trail straight though all that and he had the credentials to do it.

  • rory is the man, just listen, regards pat

  • Camera man should be kicked in the ass....I want to see his hands freaking play that strat!

  • I'm with you on that one. Do you know how much guitar work we missed because of that stupid camera-man!!!

  • thanks rorypappa for id'ing rod and lou. rod is a great drummer and lou let his playing do the talking. what has happenned to these two fine artists?

  • rory gallagher gerry macvoy rod de ath lou martin.

    great.

  • THE BETTER

  • thanx frogslegs on fire

    rorys my favourite after alvin......

  • Rory and after Alvin

  • The title of this song is "Walk on Hot Coals" from the Blueprint-album. Great live-version. The guy was pure magic on stage.

  • for frogs, if nobody told you.Lou Martin on keyboards and Rod D'Art on Drums(before his accident).

  • thanks sorry bout the not knowing of their names! im a bit dumb

  • Don't worry bout it man. We've all got to start somewhere.Rory's a good place to start music wise.

  • it's Rod de Ath on drums, Gerry McAvoy on bass and Lou Martin on piano... the impro is from the song "walk on hot coals" by rory

    cheers

  • "Rod De'Ath"

  • what happened to Rod?

  • Apparently he's ill right now, not sure as to what he's doing, but I hear he's in a bad way.

  • Comment removed

  • In Gerry McAvoy's book, it mentions that they all thought he died for a long time, then he turned up at Rory's funeral. He was in bad shape, barely any teeth, using a walking stick.

He fell running for a train and hit his head, and it left him in a bad way.

  • @Derroux80 Rod de'Ath

  • @alankat1690 Yeah,apologies.I spelt his name wrong.
