He's talking about the fact that anybody can be decent and a good guy and all that when he's winning, but Jack has come close more times than anybody else, too, and he's a stand-up guy even when he loses (cf. his duel with Watson at Turnberry, e.g.).

BTW, I'd disagree with Player about Tiger; I think he's just being promotional there. Tiger has acted like a complete punk too much of the time when he's lost, or even when things are going poorly, and he can't manage to keep his profanity in check even though he knows millions of kids are watching. But I do think he's gotten somewhat better as he's gotten older. It's just that guys like Jack, Player, Palmer, Watson, etc., didn't need to be 30 before they started to sort of act like adults.

There were really only 15-20 players who ever won. Beyond that, there was simply no depth. In today's game, the depth is unbelieveable, so much so that nobody has been able to really emerge as a great player besides tiger. Every year you hear of a new star, but none of them every accumulate more than a few wins. It's caused by the depth.
