@FUSSYMUAYTHAI #SO TRUE ,..learn neck wrestiling or plum and work your clinch ,,,,and you are ready to step in to mma with some bjj and muay thai ,,,,walter is great trained with him in the late 90s
Can someone please explain why your opponent wouldn't knee you or use his arms to strike your groin or belly if you had him in the Thai clinch?
I'm not trying to insult anyone or anything; I don't understand how the clinch works and I've seen and heard many people praise it for its effectiveness.
There's too much leverage working against the person in the clinch for them to be effective with striking. You need so be able to extend though multiple joints (triple extension is the basis for most athletic movements.) and you cannot do this when your posture is compromised. Groin strike are illegal.
Best bet is to close distance and/or crossface and pummel in.
I did. take 30 seconds to explain it. If you can't understand it by reading, or watching the videos and you're not willing to try it, then I don't see any need for you to bother asking.
Well, you could punch, it's just not very effective because the person is controlling you so well. It's hard to get any real power on them. And there are more important things to do, like negating the knees and elbows and getting out of the clinch.
That said, I've seen some nice overhand hooks from the defender as well.
You're thinking about a streetfight and not sport fighting. Use the clinch for you advantage to gain control of the fight or throw the person off balance so you can land a good shot, perhaps end the fight, but don't hold that person in a clinch too long, or you can get counters. Also learn how to defend a groin shot while having the person in the clinch.
That's correct your opponent does not have the necessary distance or ability to put any rotation into it. In fact you would hope your opponent would try to punch. Because if your opponent is busy punching all you need to do is spin, knee a few times. When you think the referee will stop it dump him hard on the canvas. Then do it all over again. ;) It just means your opponent has zero clinching experience and probably lacks the stamina as a result.
@VanishingAct27 No, if their hands aren't trying to get position (for instance if they are punching instead of going for position) most people will get turned and kneed/elbowed. Getting punched in the clinch may be annoying, but it won't knock you out. I'd gladly have someone punch me in the clinch if it mean's I can get a better position and knee them back.

Get someone who knows Muay Thai to put you in a clinch. Try to knee them. Then you will understand.

Right, but I'm not about to do that.
So if you're not going to take 30 seconds and explain it, I don't need you to tell me the obvious tip that I can't do anyway.

You told me why they couldn't knee you, but you didn't explain why they couldn't punch.
I can understand the kneeing thing, but why can't they punch?

Getting punched from the clinch doesn't hurt. Knees hurt more.
Plus, if you drop your hands, you'll get elbowed.
