After spending over an hour trying to make this "strategy" work, I'm done. This does not work reliably enough to even be worth attempting. I understand, at each point, exactly what is being done, and I can produce the same sequence of events over and over, but the events depicted in the above video are the results of the stars aligning miraculously. It is NOT even close to possible to produce those results reliably. Nearly every run I did resulted in an Ultima due to random Daze misses.
this is probably a silly question but is it mark 51 you have to do to make these appear? cause threre are numerous guides sayin this but they just dont show up for me or the long gui thx if anyone responds sorry about the previous post

Thank you so much for posting this! By far the best strategy. Every other strategy I've tried to follow or every other strategy I tried coming up with myself, was either fail or too risky. This is the best man. Treasure Hunter trophy, here I come =]
@kingmeat13 its used as a catalyst for some of the best equipment such as ribbons you need to get quite a few to upgrade different equipment to get the treasure hunter achievement for holding every weapon and accessory in the game
@PlatinumGamer20205 His daze always stays on because all other debuffs have been inflicted, because of this, snow will continuosly cast daze as that debuff disappears when the target is attacked. His method is to attack while snow is casting daze because it allows him to deal higher damage while also preventing the shao from attacking.
How is your daze lasting so much longer? When I'm doing it, daze will last about 5 secs and then go off and he kills me or does bay and dazes me... any advice please?
I thought about the sacrificial circle, since it severely cranks up his STR & MAG (1020/1020 max) but will drop his HP to 18,000 from 30,000. I don't use Snow at all really, I go with Fang Lightning & Hope 99% of the time but it's either Snow or Sazh for this strat and I'd much prefer Snow to be my Dazer.
However again, I just don't know what weapon. I'm leaning on the Sacrificial Circle, Wild Bear or Feymark.
@Malacite It really shouldn't matter at all, particularly for Snow, since the main thing he's needed for is the daze spam and not any kind of actual damage. I wouldn't use the one that drops his HP just to be safe though.
How can you say that though when the success rate of Daze is directly tied to his magic stat? Plus he had him go in there as a ravager to help stagger the turtle. I'm not so sure dropping his HP to 18k is all that bad - Lightning tops out at 20k and she didn't go red in the video.
@Malacite Because like I said in the video description, I don't even remember what weapon I was using with him but it was only tier 2 and it wasnt one with the stat focus in magic.
you're using the Save the Queen which is his Tier 3. It looks like you've got the Power Circle version of it though since there's no special mods and his STR is a lot higher than his MAG. kind of an interesting choice when you're having him use mostly magic.
I was trying out the Umbra at first but then I realized I'll likely never use the ward abilities anyway so leaning more towards offense. Wild bear is definitely the safe bet but Sacrificial Circle is beast...
It doesn't work for me... :/ He's casting ultima very often and kills my team one-shot.... I've seen him cast ultima more times than making his normal attack! :S
@powerniman You need to get all the debuffs on him and make sure to get bravera and enfire on you, then time your attacks to when Snow is casting daze over and over.
whoa. i attempted this before watching it and after seeing how far you are in your crystarium, i doubt ill be able to do this anytime soon. this dude just destroyed me in one hit, and im pretty strong in my crystarium and weapons.
I'm going to try this method, I was using one similar to this but it seems like when ever I get this beast in low health it goes into desperation mode. It starts using Ultima frequently followed by Bay or Quake. Then again like many others I haven't been using Snow; I've been using Lightning, Fang, and Vanille (or Hope). It probaly helps using the character with the highest HP. Thanks
haha! man! this video just saved a lot of time and frustrations! i hated thoses shaolong guis bastards with my life! xD never used Snow before on the whole game so i didnt figure out how to defeat em easily... now i see why its important to know every character.. man thanx! im clos to get my platinum now! at last!
Hey thanks for putting this up, I went back to the game trying for platinum, one thing, my Lightning won't cast Enfire, even after librascoping and running the same setup, any idea why?
I know you posted this a long time ago, but thanks man, this method works really good. The only dangerous thing is the turtle's "Bay"-ability, but pain killers solve that problem.
Ahh, I used to farm these guys before Chapter 12 ^.^. They were tough. The key was Daze and Enfire. It was a long time ago and unfortunately, I don't remember my setup anymore :(
Hey dude, just wanted to say thanks. This method is really working for me now, I've got another 3 dark matter to farm and then it's back to platinum farming in Eden Plaza. This game is ridiculous for getting gil. I've had every trophy except treasure hunter for about a year, but I decided to come back to it to get the platinum since I'm off work atm. Just need to buy all my catalysts and I'm good to go!

I didn't do your technique exactly, (Instead of two Devastations I have Perseverance just in case.) But without you I would have never thought to use Lightning's Synergist. Thank you!!!
Thanks for this, its the best way to kill these bastards. Sometimes it doesn't work because it decides to spam Ultima faster than Snow can do anything, but it's a lifesaver for me! THANK YOU
@indieglee Daze, makes enemies not able to attack at all until you attack him with majic or physical attacks. Then it will were off. When Daze is on the enemy it's the perfect time to get buffs on the team and heal. Daze also icreases the damage dealt to enemies.
@alexxx8706 The way daze works is it is removed whenever you hit, that's why it works to have Snow spamming it so you can constantly reapply it getting the damage bonus. To keep daze on him in between turns though (which keeps him from attacking) you need to stop attacking after the last cast of Daze. You can see me do this in the first round of attacks in com/sab/com, I had 5 attacks queued up but if you watch close you'll see that I stopped after 4. On PS3 I believe it was the triangle button.
@Nana9263 In case I'm not too late: one Adam is still roaming Pulse, just keep looking for him. The easiest way though is to simply return to Edenhall. If you go back a bit to the place where the 'toise fell through the glass you'll find another one in the open. Kill him, go back to the door (not through) and he'll respawn. The third method would be repeating mission 63, but that seems rather inefficient to me.
This method rocks the pants off all the others - I'm still pressing the like button, trying to add more likes. Best part is the Daze-lock stopping the phat bitch from attacking. Cant top that. Not even sliced bread can.
is this some random shaolong gui spawn instead of an adamanchild? cos ive never seen the gui here b4 n ive played it enough times to know, but this vid doesnt look like a hoax either, help me lol.
I actually went to try the area where there are two Long guis blocking the way, and inside that area there are 3-4 Shaolong guis there I got 3 out of 4 dark matthers once, went to the savepoint and saved and restarted the game. I think It's faster by killing 4 in a row and then reload, but I love the strategy! Bay can be a pain though, someone said that he wont cast it if you use veil but I confirmed that to be untrue.
Another thing.. I find it better to have Sen,Sen, Sen at the top and at the bottom of the paradigm slots. Can't see why I need two of Devestation when I only use it at the end. with Sen,Sen,Sen at the top and at the bottom, I find it easier to quickly swith to it whenever he casts Ultima, no matther witch paradigm slot I am using.
Isnt it possible to grind at the spot where there are 2 Long guis blocking the way? Wouldnt it be better to fight all the 4-5 of the guis in there? Or maybe they don't change after the missions are completed? Restarting the game all the time can make the farm a bit boring :P

It's funny, he spams Ultima so outrageously fast that he's literally re-using it just as soon as he hits the previous attack. I can not count to 3 before he uses Ultima again, it's absurd!! Daze i've found is incredibly shit, it last's a tiny amount of time.
Christ, all need is these dark matters for platinum.
@EmmyIiciouS About the outrageous spam of Ultima.. I havn't noticed too much about it. Are you sure that you put up slow as fast as you can followed by daze? Usually he might be able to do one attack before I stagger him, and after that Snow will spam daze all the time which mean that the damage will be huge + he will not attack as much. Yes It's not there for a long time, but when It's spammed by Snow it will be attached alot :)

Had use a diff method though, gotta say Enfire was a sodding godsend that thing saved my butt soo bad, & yeah it was Daze that was raping me. I'd whack slow on & go for stagger but shit'd hit the fan usually midway through the stagger when he casts Bay followed by Ultima followed by a Stomp with like 1 second between each attack. Left & upgraded stuff & came back and was easy :)
Tough as heck till you get a stradegy down though ^^
your video is a little confusing to me, you only got 50hours playtime, but all chars are max and you got so many high level items and also 6mio gil, maybe you save/reload always until you get platin item( sell 150000gil) or you used any kind of cheat, because to get this many cp and this many money and this good items you need long time, thats because i don't think your video is made with tricks, or does the time restart if you go over 999:99:59?
@darkshredder619 Check out my other 2 FFXIII videos that show how to grind efficiently, the whole point of them was to show that you could do all of that without spending a massive amount of time like you're saying, and I even got the Platinum Trophy as well. I was able to get the growth egg early and farm cp from the Adamantoise using Sahz, and then once my crystarium was high enough I was able to kill roughly 4-5 Adamantoise every 10 minutes, which means a lot of cp and gil from ingots.
@calahoon22 When you have maxed out Chrystarium and got 2x power gloves (kaiser knuckles) a genji glove, and Kain's Lance with fang she will have like 3600+ strength. I hit 999 999 damage pretty often when they are fully staggered, and with Highwind the damage is always high :)
@calahoon22 It's a combination of 3 things really, Since it seems you know about genji glove we can put that aside (I was just being a bit sarcastic, I'm sorry). But the combination is genji glove - Enfire and Daze. The reason that you use Snow as a sab at the end is because he will spam daze = the damage from the enfire weapons and when daze is attached on the target = bling bling damage. I think I have hit him for like 700k+ by regular attacks when daze is attached :)
enfire was the element i was missing! still not getting 500,000 but getting near enough to it about 450,000 so that'll do me grand :) i hate farming for dark matters
@calahoon22 I agree it sucks pretty much to farm em. I just got my treasure hunter achievement yesterday, so my farming is finally over :) I can recommend you to farm at the spot where there are two long guis blocking the way. Inside that area you will face 3 of the shoulong guis, will neat you the dark matthers you need in no time :)
I do it like this: FANG/LIGHT/VANILLE SEN/SEN/SEN SAB/SYN/SAB SYN/SYN/MED RAV/RAV/RAV COM/COM/MED COM/COM/COM Important to have slow on him asap. What I noticed today is that if you have Veil as a buff he does Ultima and if you do not have Veil he will do Bay, so make sure you have Veil, as Ultima does not do that much damage when SEN. Pretty easy actually, have beaten them for over a 100 times now I actually never tried Daze, will do now.
@Tiwanacu That didn't happen to me too many times but it does happen, and in the video description you'll see "In the case that he decides to throw out an Ultima before you get him dazed switch to the sen/sen/sen paradigm and then back to whatever you were." You should survive it no problem if you switch quickly, then just go right back into what you were doing.
Does anyone know why I keep running into the Adamanchelids instead of the Shaolong Guis? I've fought every turtle on the map and they're all the same. Do I have to complete a certain misson first? I beat the game already...
You'll have to complete mission 56-62 and most of the Adams will turn into Long Guis. They're alot thougher then the Adams though so keep an save before you complete the last mission if you regret it :)
This REALLY helped me out in obtaining my 5 dark matter's. I got them all pretty quickly within 2 hours with the retrys. Thank you for making such a quick and easy guide. ^_^
Dark Matter is used to upgrade accessories only, to unlock long gui you need to do mission 50 something, it tells u to kill an adamantortoise, and as a reward u get a genji glove and long guis replace the toises. u get hermes sandles by dismantling a tetradic crown, and when u upgrade those with a uranite u get speed boots, alternatively u cn get speed boots by upgrading a tetradic tiara and dismantling it, also mission 34 nets u hermes boots as a reward.
How come everytime i go to this place , it's always an adamchield, any help?? Plus is it still viable if i can complete missions 11-14 in chapter 13 b/c i didnt get to run into them and i rlly need a chocobo, thank you
This strategy is brilliant, and not just for Shao Long, but also for slowly taking down Adamantoises as well, doing that to spam up on Platinum Ingots from that 1 roaming around Eden, working out great. =-)
@ProjectSoldier Once you're able the adamantoise are easily the best place to farm for both CP and gil, two of my other videos deal with how to do that. Before that there are a few places that aren't too bad for some grinding to get you some easy levels, the two behemoth type monsters you can see at the very beginning of this video at the bottom of the hill being a great one. There are other videos around youtube showing how to grind on that battle you could check out.
@ProjectSoldier Theres a spot in the Mah'habara caves between the teleport stone and the end of the caves. Just after the juggernaut there is a group of 3 cryohedrons and then just past that is a cryohedron and 3 puddings. Running back and forth between that will net about 18k cp per minute (with the growth egg) as well as bomb cores (one of the top 5 components). They always respawn between each other so no saving and reseting. COM/COM/COM with any 3 that have blitz and its cake
@TeaBagTactics You can get back to gran pulse yes, but as for where to get specific items my memory is a bit fuzzy. I think there were 3 genji gloves total you could get from 3 of the tougher cieth stone missions and I think you got sprint shoes by upgrading another accessory like hermes sandals, but I'm not 100% on that and I certainly don't remember which missions so it would again be best to try to find an online guide.
@drkcrstl As I recall there were some weapons and perhaps accessories that needed dark matter as a catalyst in order to be upgraded, I was doing it in order to get the treasure hunter trophy. If you weren't going for treasure hunter however or you didn't want the weapons or accessories that needed it then you wouldn't get much use out of it. As for which items can be upgraded with it exactly it's been far too long for me to remember and I'd suggest looking it up in an online guide.
@drkcrstl The ones I can remember off the top of my head are: Wurtzite Bangle, Kaiser Knuckles, Magistral Crest, and Super Ribbon. There may be a few more things (such as weapons) but I'd have to look it up to remember them. So, you'll need at least 4 dark matter in order to get the achievement/ trophy.
Just came across this guide today and it's the best and easiest I've seen so far by a mile. Pretty much farming these guys now w/o even upgrading my weapons. Thanks for the great vid.
Oh and I always use Lightning, Fang and Hope (Vanille if I need to use Death).
Alot of people say Sazh is rather good, but I need Dark Matter to Upgrade his Weapon and his Stats are shit.
Fangs Strength is at like 3,700, her Magics over 2,000. Lightning's balanced, with like 2,700 Strength and almost the same Magic. And Hopes got over 3,200 Magic.
Just need Trapzohedron, Dark Matter, Scarletite, Adanantite, Perovskite, Uranite to get the last Trophy.
Ah, this was helpful. I never vs'ed Shaolong Gui's due to the fact you can't stagger their feet and knock them over.
My first file, which is pretty much fucked up (though maxed out in CP), is able to kill these and Long Gui's but I have the incorrect gear and items (I bought a fuckload of random shit, didn't know what I was doing back then).
My 3rd and best file just needs to complete a few Missions to unlock these, been Farming Traps, gotten 3 so far ):

@AkatsukiXxXSephiroth As far as I know I don't believe there was any way to change them back, but from what I remember once they're changed there may have still been 1 or 2 of the normal kind left on the map (one of the ones around the middle I believe was a regular adamntoise, could be mistaken). If that's not the case I think there was one of the cieth stone missions that could also give you some to kill, it's been a very long time since I played though and could be wrong.
@AkatsukiXxXSephiroth Yes, After You Do The Ceith Stone Missions In The Stone Circle..... The Shaolong Gui and Long Gui Appear... But There Is Still At Least 1 Adamantoise Left As I know Of Right In The Middle Of The Archite Steppe (Close By The Save And Chocobo Near The Pond)
If You Don't Like The Process Of Using Vanille's Eidolon To Take Him Down To Death Spam..... I Bought 9 Witch's Bracelet's (3 Equipped With Each Person) This Dramatically Reduces All Damage Taken From The Adamantoise. Saves You The Time Of Running Around Fighting Other Enemies To Gain Up More TP To Use Your Eidolon Again. Have A Paradigm Set As SAB/SAB/SAB After You Cast Your Eidolon, Because Attacks Are Worthless And Your Party Can Help Keep Him Debuffed While You Death Spam HIm.
But It Also Helps To Have A Champion's Badge and Energy Sash Equipped On Vanille To Replenish Even More TP. If Fang Is In Your Party Then Equip Her With Punisher (Staggered: TP Charge) Which Helps Alot For When Your Fighting The Behemoth King And Megistotherian Who Are Already Fighting Each Other. You Can Easily Stagger And Kill Both Of Them For The Fastest Way To Replenish Your TP.
The Only Problem With Fighting The Adamantoise Without Summon Or Shrouds Is The Fact That It Takes A Long Time For That Death To Work Alot Of The Times.

Whoa! I've been reading up on these, in anticipation for my first attempt at killing one, This was the first time I heard that they can be dazed. That takes a huge load off of my back. I use the daze method to easy-kill everything difficult that can be dazed, I had just assumed that these would be immune, like Oretoise and Adamantoise. Thank you very much!

To have high stats in FF13 you need CP and money, and both come from killing Adamantoise. You can search youtube for guides on how to kill them (first with Summon/Death, afterwards Highwind, e.g.). Hope I helped!
I'm guessing either Wild Bear or Power Circle right? Considering Snow doesn't do much physical damage, and is a SAB for the most part, more magic stat would be beneficial right? Therefore go with Wild Bear?
@cannnonfoddder In this fight it really doesn't even matter what weapon Snow has because he isn't going to be really doing any major damage, since you're just using him for daze spam it makes no difference.
If you don't get him down the first time, go straight back into Tri-Disaster if Shaolong Gui has Daze inflicted on it, if not, go back to Infiltration to put it back on, then go to Tri-Disaster and try again. Keep a Renew ready in case you're worried about Health. Expect a Ultima on the 2nd time, so get ready for Tortoise at any time, the Shaolong Gui will then use Bay if you don't succeed the 2nd time. So be prepared! =D

It's so close to working for me but he still attacks when I'm in COM-SAB-COM trying to finish him off, I can get him down to about 20% most attempts and then he just uses Bay... which wipes everyone out. Am I doing something obvious wrong? Thanks.
@KOTRobioto You may not have the damage to just be able to spike him down fast enough without keeping daze on him through the whole thing. Take a look at the first wave of attacks in the video in COM/SAB/COM around the 2 minute mark and notice how after I finish attacking daze is still on him. If you watch closely you'll see that I actually cancelled my last attack of that turn so as not to take off the last daze, and so long as he stays dazed he can't attack you, so try practicing that.

Thanks, worked like a damn charm on the first try and I even got a Dark Matter, though it'll probably just sit in my inventory, since I've already gotten all weapons and accessories the "hard" way. Anyway, enfire+debuffing destroys this guy.
Cheers buddy saved me alot of ball ache, took me awhile to work out that if you hit him with anything after daze he would come out of it, as i would hit him with daze then must of hit him with another de-buff before i came out of that paradigm.The way i got around it was to switch to 2 medics with me as a sab and cast daze when all other de-buffs we're on that way i could cancel it straight away.And is it just me or is the one wondering the plains twice as hard as this one ?
Yeah, I personally changed the setup just a wee bit. Instead of having two AJAs and EHE (that's COM/SAB/COM and SYN/MED/SYN in the Eng version), I have HJH and EJE (MED/SAB/MED and SYN/SAB/SYN). Not only are Lightning and Fang more effective healers, but if you just have Snow as your debuffer, he will automatically stop casting debuffs when the enemy is stopped. Meanwhile, you can heal/buff to your heart's content, making pre-battle buffs even less necessary. :)
This works so well, I was trying someone elses strategy and it was completely not working for me AT ALL. Then I saw this video in the suggestions and gave it a shot. Worked FIRST time, and all times since. I even had a brain meltdown and forgot I'd bought aegisol for about 8 battles and it still worked. XD Thanks so much!

@quad123 when you upgrade the tetradic crown/tiara, to max then dismantle them, you get Hermes sandles and sprint shoes respectively.

you're using the Save the Queen which is his Tier 3. It looks like you've got the Power Circle version of it though since there's no special mods and his STR is a lot higher than his MAG. kind of an interesting choice when you're having him use mostly magic.
I was trying out the Umbra at first but then I realized I'll likely never use the ward abilities anyway so leaning more towards offense. Wild bear is definitely the safe bet but Sacrificial Circle is beast...

I'm going to try this method, I was using one similar to this but it seems like when ever I get this beast in low health it goes into desperation mode. It starts using Ultima frequently followed by Bay or Quake. Then again like many others I haven't been using Snow; I've been using Lightning, Fang, and Vanille (or Hope). It probaly helps using the character with the highest HP. Thanks

Ahh, I used to farm these guys before Chapter 12 ^.^. They were tough. The key was Daze and Enfire. It was a long time ago and unfortunately, I don't remember my setup anymore :(

Hey dude, just wanted to say thanks. This method is really working for me now, I've got another 3 dark matter to farm and then it's back to platinum farming in Eden Plaza. This game is ridiculous for getting gil. I've had every trophy except treasure hunter for about a year, but I decided to come back to it to get the platinum since I'm off work atm. Just need to buy all my catalysts and I'm good to go!

@indieglee Daze, makes enemies not able to attack at all until you attack him with majic or physical attacks. Then it will were off. When Daze is on the enemy it's the perfect time to get buffs on the team and heal. Daze also icreases the damage dealt to enemies.

@alexxx8706 The way daze works is it is removed whenever you hit, that's why it works to have Snow spamming it so you can constantly reapply it getting the damage bonus. To keep daze on him in between turns though (which keeps him from attacking) you need to stop attacking after the last cast of Daze. You can see me do this in the first round of attacks in com/sab/com, I had 5 attacks queued up but if you watch close you'll see that I stopped after 4. On PS3 I believe it was the triangle button.

@Nana9263 In case I'm not too late: one Adam is still roaming Pulse, just keep looking for him. The easiest way though is to simply return to Edenhall. If you go back a bit to the place where the 'toise fell through the glass you'll find another one in the open. Kill him, go back to the door (not through) and he'll respawn. The third method would be repeating mission 63, but that seems rather inefficient to me.

I actually went to try the area where there are two Long guis blocking the way, and inside that area there are 3-4 Shaolong guis there I got 3 out of 4 dark matthers once, went to the savepoint and saved and restarted the game. I think It's faster by killing 4 in a row and then reload, but I love the strategy! Bay can be a pain though, someone said that he wont cast it if you use veil but I confirmed that to be untrue.

Another thing.. I find it better to have Sen,Sen, Sen at the top and at the bottom of the paradigm slots. Can't see why I need two of Devestation when I only use it at the end. with Sen,Sen,Sen at the top and at the bottom, I find it easier to quickly swith to it whenever he casts Ultima, no matther witch paradigm slot I am using.

Isnt it possible to grind at the spot where there are 2 Long guis blocking the way? Wouldnt it be better to fight all the 4-5 of the guis in there? Or maybe they don't change after the missions are completed? Restarting the game all the time can make the farm a bit boring :P

It's funny, he spams Ultima so outrageously fast that he's literally re-using it just as soon as he hits the previous attack. I can not count to 3 before he uses Ultima again, it's absurd!! Daze i've found is incredibly shit, it last's a tiny amount of time.
Christ, all need is these dark matters for platinum.

@EmmyIiciouS About the outrageous spam of Ultima.. I havn't noticed too much about it. Are you sure that you put up slow as fast as you can followed by daze? Usually he might be able to do one attack before I stagger him, and after that Snow will spam daze all the time which mean that the damage will be huge + he will not attack as much. Yes It's not there for a long time, but when It's spammed by Snow it will be attached alot :)

Had use a diff method though, gotta say Enfire was a sodding godsend that thing saved my butt soo bad, & yeah it was Daze that was raping me. I'd whack slow on & go for stagger but shit'd hit the fan usually midway through the stagger when he casts Bay followed by Ultima followed by a Stomp with like 1 second between each attack. Left & upgraded stuff & came back and was easy :)
Tough as heck till you get a stradegy down though ^^

your video is a little confusing to me, you only got 50hours playtime, but all chars are max and you got so many high level items and also 6mio gil, maybe you save/reload always until you get platin item( sell 150000gil) or you used any kind of cheat, because to get this many cp and this many money and this good items you need long time, thats because i don't think your video is made with tricks, or does the time restart if you go over 999:99:59?

@darkshredder619 Check out my other 2 FFXIII videos that show how to grind efficiently, the whole point of them was to show that you could do all of that without spending a massive amount of time like you're saying, and I even got the Platinum Trophy as well. I was able to get the growth egg early and farm cp from the Adamantoise using Sahz, and then once my crystarium was high enough I was able to kill roughly 4-5 Adamantoise every 10 minutes, which means a lot of cp and gil from ingots.

@calahoon22 When you have maxed out Chrystarium and got 2x power gloves (kaiser knuckles) a genji glove, and Kain's Lance with fang she will have like 3600+ strength. I hit 999 999 damage pretty often when they are fully staggered, and with Highwind the damage is always high :)

@calahoon22 It's a combination of 3 things really, Since it seems you know about genji glove we can put that aside (I was just being a bit sarcastic, I'm sorry). But the combination is genji glove - Enfire and Daze. The reason that you use Snow as a sab at the end is because he will spam daze = the damage from the enfire weapons and when daze is attached on the target = bling bling damage. I think I have hit him for like 700k+ by regular attacks when daze is attached :)

I just got my treasure hunter achievement yesterday, so my farming is finally over :) I can recommend you to farm at the spot where there are two long guis blocking the way. Inside that area you will face 3 of the shoulong guis, will neat you the dark matthers you need in no time :)

@Tiwanacu That didn't happen to me too many times but it does happen, and in the video description you'll see "In the case that he decides to throw out an Ultima before you get him dazed switch to the sen/sen/sen paradigm and then back to whatever you were." You should survive it no problem if you switch quickly, then just go right back into what you were doing.

You'll have to complete mission 56-62 and most of the Adams will turn into Long Guis. They're alot thougher then the Adams though so keep an save before you complete the last mission if you regret it :)

Dark Matter is used to upgrade accessories only, to unlock long gui you need to do mission 50 something, it tells u to kill an adamantortoise, and as a reward u get a genji glove and long guis replace the toises. u get hermes sandles by dismantling a tetradic crown, and when u upgrade those with a uranite u get speed boots, alternatively u cn get speed boots by upgrading a tetradic tiara and dismantling it, also mission 34 nets u hermes boots as a reward.

@ProjectSoldier Once you're able the adamantoise are easily the best place to farm for both CP and gil, two of my other videos deal with how to do that. Before that there are a few places that aren't too bad for some grinding to get you some easy levels, the two behemoth type monsters you can see at the very beginning of this video at the bottom of the hill being a great one. There are other videos around youtube showing how to grind on that battle you could check out.

@ProjectSoldier Theres a spot in the Mah'habara caves between the teleport stone and the end of the caves. Just after the juggernaut there is a group of 3 cryohedrons and then just past that is a cryohedron and 3 puddings. Running back and forth between that will net about 18k cp per minute (with the growth egg) as well as bomb cores (one of the top 5 components). They always respawn between each other so no saving and reseting. COM/COM/COM with any 3 that have blitz and its cake

@TeaBagTactics You can get back to gran pulse yes, but as for where to get specific items my memory is a bit fuzzy. I think there were 3 genji gloves total you could get from 3 of the tougher cieth stone missions and I think you got sprint shoes by upgrading another accessory like hermes sandals, but I'm not 100% on that and I certainly don't remember which missions so it would again be best to try to find an online guide.

@drkcrstl As I recall there were some weapons and perhaps accessories that needed dark matter as a catalyst in order to be upgraded, I was doing it in order to get the treasure hunter trophy. If you weren't going for treasure hunter however or you didn't want the weapons or accessories that needed it then you wouldn't get much use out of it. As for which items can be upgraded with it exactly it's been far too long for me to remember and I'd suggest looking it up in an online guide.

@drkcrstl The ones I can remember off the top of my head are: Wurtzite Bangle, Kaiser Knuckles, Magistral Crest, and Super Ribbon. There may be a few more things (such as weapons) but I'd have to look it up to remember them. So, you'll need at least 4 dark matter in order to get the achievement/ trophy.

Alot of people say Sazh is rather good, but I need Dark Matter to Upgrade his Weapon and his Stats are shit.
Fangs Strength is at like 3,700, her Magics over 2,000. Lightning's balanced, with like 2,700 Strength and almost the same Magic. And Hopes got over 3,200 Magic.
Just need Trapzohedron, Dark Matter, Scarletite, Adanantite, Perovskite, Uranite to get the last Trophy.

Ah, this was helpful. I never vs'ed Shaolong Gui's due to the fact you can't stagger their feet and knock them over.
My first file, which is pretty much fucked up (though maxed out in CP), is able to kill these and Long Gui's but I have the incorrect gear and items (I bought a fuckload of random shit, didn't know what I was doing back then).
My 3rd and best file just needs to complete a few Missions to unlock these, been Farming Traps, gotten 3 so far ):

@AkatsukiXxXSephiroth As far as I know I don't believe there was any way to change them back, but from what I remember once they're changed there may have still been 1 or 2 of the normal kind left on the map (one of the ones around the middle I believe was a regular adamntoise, could be mistaken). If that's not the case I think there was one of the cieth stone missions that could also give you some to kill, it's been a very long time since I played though and could be wrong.

To have high stats in FF13 you need CP and money, and both come from killing Adamantoise. You can search youtube for guides on how to kill them (first with Summon/Death, afterwards Highwind, e.g.). Hope I helped!

I'm guessing either Wild Bear or Power Circle right? Considering Snow doesn't do much physical damage, and is a SAB for the most part, more magic stat would be beneficial right? Therefore go with Wild Bear?

@cannnonfoddder In this fight it really doesn't even matter what weapon Snow has because he isn't going to be really doing any major damage, since you're just using him for daze spam it makes no difference.

If you don't get him down the first time, go straight back into Tri-Disaster if Shaolong Gui has Daze inflicted on it, if not, go back to Infiltration to put it back on, then go to Tri-Disaster and try again. Keep a Renew ready in case you're worried about Health. Expect a Ultima on the 2nd time, so get ready for Tortoise at any time, the Shaolong Gui will then use Bay if you don't succeed the 2nd time. So be prepared! =D

It's so close to working for me but he still attacks when I'm in COM-SAB-COM trying to finish him off, I can get him down to about 20% most attempts and then he just uses Bay... which wipes everyone out. Am I doing something obvious wrong? Thanks.

@KOTRobioto You may not have the damage to just be able to spike him down fast enough without keeping daze on him through the whole thing. Take a look at the first wave of attacks in the video in COM/SAB/COM around the 2 minute mark and notice how after I finish attacking daze is still on him. If you watch closely you'll see that I actually cancelled my last attack of that turn so as not to take off the last daze, and so long as he stays dazed he can't attack you, so try practicing that.

Thanks, worked like a damn charm on the first try and I even got a Dark Matter, though it'll probably just sit in my inventory, since I've already gotten all weapons and accessories the "hard" way. Anyway, enfire+debuffing destroys this guy.

Cheers buddy saved me alot of ball ache, took me awhile to work out that if you hit him with anything after daze he would come out of it, as i would hit him with daze then must of hit him with another de-buff before i came out of that paradigm.The way i got around it was to switch to 2 medics with me as a sab and cast daze when all other de-buffs we're on that way i could cancel it straight away.And is it just me or is the one wondering the plains twice as hard as this one ?

Yeah, I personally changed the setup just a wee bit. Instead of having two AJAs and EHE (that's COM/SAB/COM and SYN/MED/SYN in the Eng version), I have HJH and EJE (MED/SAB/MED and SYN/SAB/SYN). Not only are Lightning and Fang more effective healers, but if you just have Snow as your debuffer, he will automatically stop casting debuffs when the enemy is stopped. Meanwhile, you can heal/buff to your heart's content, making pre-battle buffs even less necessary. :)

hey ppl if u have problem with shao LongGui, try watching u tube videos about LongGui (ugraded version of the shao long gui)
u even faint.
it casts ultima spell right off the bat. dealing 40k + damage to all, if u duno what yo do u dont even reach the 1st 2 secs of battle

This works so well, I was trying someone elses strategy and it was completely not working for me AT ALL. Then I saw this video in the suggestions and gave it a shot. Worked FIRST time, and all times since. I even had a brain meltdown and forgot I'd bought aegisol for about 8 battles and it still worked. XD Thanks so much!
