  • that's really awesome

  • thank you mr. wizard.....:-)

  • the magnets start to look like barney at 0:30

  • ROFL!

I read the Barney comment at 0:25 and by the time I looked at the screen there was Barney! Can't stop laughing now.

  • nice! :D

  • nice job.

and you can also use it to attack criminals!! just kidding.

  • r u gonna paint it

  • mom doesn't allow that sort of shananagins under her roof. LOL

  • the pickup looks like the very first electric guitar pickup designs...

  • Indeed it does, I think the old Rickenbacker horseshoe pickups used in the Frying Pan guitar of the early 40's used a concept similar to the pickup this mate used.

As simple as his guitar design is I'm pretty impressed. Great job mate.

  • he looks scared :D

  • he looks brain damaged

i thought this was simple jack

  • "Now we're ready to rock!"

    Dude you're awesome.

  • LOVEEDD THE ENDING!

  • ...

  • nice...dropped C tuning? XDXD

  • Sounds to me like dropped Q flat...

  • OMG at the end HAHAHAHHAHAH thats fucking hilarious

  • This guy looks insane!

    Cool vid though

  • okay im making a bodyless bass proably 3 strings maby 4 ill post it. btw learn to play it

  • pretty cool........

  • I've always wanted to play a bodyless guitar like that! Sweet guitar!

  • Okay, time to move on to a real guitar. Nice concept. Treat it like a prototype.

  • Wow, great videos -- very inspiring. I hope you'll find time to post more! Thank you.

  • That sounds very pretty.

  • That sounded like jimmy page :P kiddin'

Cool concept, mostly because it's so different from how conventional pickups work.

Right now i'm working on some optical pickups, i'll post when ready (and of course if it works)

  • he looks like Steve Buscemi a little bit

  • Throw some tuning knobs on there. :)

    Otherwise Awesome concept!

  • no frets, but still pretty cool.

  • sweet

  • lolololololl

  • Leave off RogerInOhio. He's my idol

  • Roger is the coolest, who cares about some visual anomolies? He could have been on disability cause his mom threw him in the dumpster. After decades of recovery he is a superman being. He is so smart that he can't be bothered with trivial stuff. He could be the Einstein that saves our ass from those idiot politicians that give away our country to the Arab's when we have plenty of oil in Alaska.

  • thats so cool i wanna make one

  • I wonder if it rejects noise and hum because of the way the strings are wired in series like that; it seems like any noise induced into the even set of strings must be cancelled out by the odd set because the current induced by the noise cannot travel in both directions at once....

  • the ending was cool, ok we are ready to rock.

  • thats a bass it only has 4 strings

  • he has no idea just look at his funny ass face.

  • wow josh karma is a bitch.

  • Nice work Roger, always love to see your videos.

  • HAHAHAHAHA

    the ending is priceless

  • cool!

  • cool

  • this guy reminds me of a mad scientist

  • this guy scares the hell out of me

  • 'Now we're ready to rock' LOL!!!

Did he behead Barney the Dinosaur and replace his teeth with magnets?

  • haha genius!

  • lmao "ok and now where ready to rock!" funniest thing ive seen today!

  • The pickup looks like Barney

  • Very cool stuff! But the Good Doctor is vaguely creepy.

  • thats a pretty damn sick guitar.

  • Have you ever seen Professor Denzil Dexter from UK comedy sketch show "The Fast Show"?

  • this is great, isnt that dangerous having current running through the strings?

  • absolutely not, it's a very low power current (at least in a regular electric guitar)

  • yea i watched that too...i want to find out how to make that same one

  • I watched a special about some guy in jail who made an electric guitar. It was pretty cool and looked alot better than this one.

  • nice job. I think he likes to show you his pearly whites the same time.

  • wow that is one creepy dude.

  • cool, ive got plans to make a bass guitar.

  • It has an interesting sound. You can buy used guitars and take the necks off, using the original metal bridge and a brass nut, on your homemade instruments. Be careful running current through the strings. I tried that with a cb radio once improvising an amp and shocked my hand pretty bad.

  • wow... interesting

  • nerd jk

    good going

  • Smartass

  • :D you are a vry clever man! well done! i love the ending "now were ready to rock!" =D well done

  • what the fuck is that disease

  • Very innovative, The Pick Ups Are Very Intriguing ,and yes ignore those who know nothing about anything, Your a true pioneer sharing this Beautiful Guitar With TheWorld, God Bless You Sir, Have you ever made guitar necks before? i was always intrigued by pickups inside the guitar neck, Either WAy Rock On!!!

  • Excellent work, unfortunately, this just makes me feel even dummer.(

  • you know what will make you seem even "dummer"? "dummer" is spelt dumber =). lol

  • Oh.............SHIT!!!!!!!!!

  • whoever is callin this guy balls to u, he miles cleverer than ull ever be...fags -.-

  • very cool! electricity through the strings wow! never seen a guitar use that techniqe

  • Hahahhahahahha nice sound xDxD

  • nice :) i'm guessing you just used what was lying around the workshop? i've heard of people winding their own pickups, ever tried that? i'm very mechanically inclined, but electricity, for some reason, confuses me. do you think it would be very difficult to make a set of pickups? something somewhat resembling factory pickups?

  • Its not dificult at all, get some thin wire and coiled onto a magnet, that's it!!

  • cool, i guess i need to get off my lazy butt and do a little research and find out all the details. lol

    thanks

  • Ignore the ignorant comments ... that's an EM application that could be modified to produce more interesting stringed instruments ... keep experimenting

  • I made my first electric guitar when I was 16, I used audio tape heads those you find on tape players, I've put one per string and I hap put a magnet behind the heads. I used the tape's player circuit and voila!! It worked

  • wow thats a pretty smart idea. i played with electronics when i was a kid too. but i was more into synthesis. now im into building guitars. i plan to have all kinds of effects built in.

  • Try using the tape player circuit, conect the guitar's pickup to the head circuit and try with diferent capacitors ( the small ones), also you could use a rotating knob to select them. You'be surprised with the distortions effects,BTW you get better results with pickups made with thin wire coiled onto a magnet(door magnetic catches) Good luck with your guitar!!

  • I would like to hear the sound recorded only from the electrical signals. On the movie I guess I also hear the sound from the strings themselves or is the soundlevel from the strings themselves very low?

  • Ready to rock! oh yeah!

  • interesting and scary at the same time...

  • if the strings carry the current wouldnt it electrocute you?

  • probably not enough to even be felt.

  • wow

  • and now wer ready to rock lol

  • jajajajja, that guy is kinda crazy

  • Awesome shit RIO! You rocked my world!

  • this guy isnt retarded, if i was a famous rockstar i would so use a guitar that he makes :P i think it would be unique and diffrent, a little more edge rofl.

  • very nice thank you! I appreciate you showing how the guitar works and how the sound is picked up :)

  • don't listen to people saying your retarded its probably because they don't understand electromagnitism or electricity

  • lol man you give me a steven hawking vibe or somthing

    subscribed at any rate

  • Dude, you rule. Anyone who makes fun is sick.

Keep on doing your stuff, Rog...and we'll keep watching.

o and your tesla coil...SHOCKING MAN

  • thats pretty cool

  • why make fun of him. hes got more knowledge then ull ever have

  • retarded? yeah, right... what are you capable of building, smart guy? lurikeen, if he's a retard why don't you prove your superiority and build something better. but you probably can't...

  • Cool except for cosmitic stuff thats a decent gutair

  • now, what you need to do is maybe it about 6 feet long and tuned really low. play it with a slide and you've got an upright bass that will blow your head off.

  • Hey Roger! I saw your Tesla coil videos some months ago and thought they were extremely cool. How awesome to bump into your vids again and see you are making guitars aswell :) You're my hero!

  • very nice. Good job

  • good job

  • way out of tune but still very cool

  • good job i plan on makeing one of your tesla coils thanks for the scematics all ready have 3/4 of the matireals on hand where would be a good place to find the wire for the secondary coil

  • wow that is really cool i am from circleville ohio first person i have sean on here from around here keep up the good work

  • yea DerrickMendonca get lost we don't want you here anymore.

  • cool, i didn't know that the principle of a e-guitar is that simple!

  • THATS AWESOME!!!

  • weird, but creative! : )

  • the pickup sounds good.

  • cool as hell, Rog!!! Keep it up!!!

  • Not a nice comment at all. Roger seems to be a very nice person, has built a lot of cool things, and shared his work on the net for everyone to see...

You my friend, DerrickMendonca, seem like an A$S in my honest opinion...

  • You have done well with that pickup design. I have only used it on one string. You got balls using it for a multi string guitar. I vote 8!

  • I would like to hear the sound recorded only from the electrical signals. On the movie I guess I also hear the sound from the strings themselves or is the soundlevel from the strings themselves very low?

  • Yes, the soundlevel from the strings themselves very low. Most of what you hear is comming out the load speakers.

  • thats awesome! i need to try that.

  • With this knowlege I can make a very basic bass drum fiddle
