OMG my uncle is buried at Henri' Chappelle American cemetery, he was killed Dec 20th 1944, his name is Ralph J Hodgens US Army, Pfc. I believe that was the second day of the Battle of the bulge. We just found out where he is is in 2010. As of yet his grave is not yet listed. We have no pictures of his grave :( I have a letter written by him Dec 18th 1944 2 days before his death, it is vmail, so not much is there. He said he was fine, tell all the folks hello, and it was awfully muddy.
@Valou415 do you know this cemetery I mentioned above? I have seen it online, but no pic of my Uncle's grave is yet posted. I wasn't born, but my mother is 85 and did not know where her brother was buried, how he died etc. Judging from the dates I have he was KIA during the 1st bombardment of the Bulge. His last letter written 12-18-44, he was dead 12-20-44. She is too ill to visit. He never complained, but was in hell he had to be. my God.
Setting in Heerlen, Netherlands planning a trip to Liege Belgium where in late Feb early March my father was moved to a hospital holding area in a school gymnasium in Liege, Belgium
He was wouned after dark the evening of Feb 28, 1945 Dickerscheid, Germany by airburst 88 mm , while dug in gaurding against a counter attack.
This is great, I am so glad you posted it. My dad was a soldier in WW2 and I am so proud that he was. He loved his country and did his best over and when I went to Belgium in 2001 he was remembered as a good man and a gentleman.
